Over dependence on crude oil for foreign exchange have led to the steady dwindle in the Agricultural sector performance which was Nigerias main stay prior to the oil boom in the 70s. Currently, Nigerias economy has continued to scuffle to retain its title Africas largest economy with the recent fluctuations in oil prices which have affected the economy negatively which is evident in the low standard of living, and the heightened increase in the cost of goods and services. There is an agreement among scholars that the Nigerian economy should be diversified through agriculture and that Agripreneurship could revamp the current economic situation of the nation. Therefore, increased Agricultural sector performance could lead to economic recovery and sustainable development. Despite the fact that a lot of sensitization programmes, workshops, seminars and presentations have been organized by private and government agencies and organizations also, polices and support Systems were created by the government both in the state and Federal levels so as to enhance the Agricultural sector, yet results from recent studies still indicate that the Agricultural sector performance in Nigeria is low. This indicates that perhaps Agripreneurship has not really been embraced and there are seemingly the existence of some bottlenecks or barriers which inhibit the increase in the Agricultural sector performance of the country, Agriculture is still practiced in subsistence level. Accordingly, the thrust of this study is to explore agripreneurship development as a strategy for economic recovery and sustainable development. Challenges and Prospects of Agribusiness in Nigeria The Missing Linkijtsrd
For about three decades, the Nigerian government had initiated many policies and programs aimed at restoring the agricultural sector to its prominent position in the economy. However, various efforts to encourage investment and export diversification in the agricultural sector have not yielded favorable results. Great potential for investments and export diversification to generate higher economic growth remained untapped, as a result of challenges in the agricultural sector which have to be nipped in the bud. Therefore, this study identified these challenges and made recommendations to be implemented to remove these limitations in order to accelerate the achievement of economic growth and sustainable development in the country. The identified challenges or limitations consist of marketing problems, infrastructure deficiencies and unstable input and output prices. Measures to lift restrictions must include improvements in downstream commodity activities, environmental management, increased financing and efficiency in agricultural spending. The government should wake up and invest in infrastructure, and such investment must ensure infrastructure development in both urban and rural areas. Marketing of Agricultural Products, a Panacea for Economic Growth and Sustain...ijtsrd
There is an urgent need for the revitalization of the Nigerian Agricultural sector especially now the economic situation of the economy is nothing to write home about. The Agricultural sector of Nigeria was neglected for years owing to the discovery of crude oil in the 70s. Crude oil exportation gradually replaced Agricultural products exportation until Nigeria became a mono product exporting nation. The current fall in oil prices have led to the recent clamor for the diversification of the economy through agricultural export performance. Serveral policies have been implemented by the government both in state and federal levels in order to boost the agricultural sector but no significant change has been achieved. This indicates that the sector is faced with challenges which must be identified and nipped in the bud for the sector to flourish. Marketing of Agricultural products has been identified by various researchers globally and in Nigeria as the major problems of the Agricultural sector. Various scholars have discovered that if the right marketing practices is not put in place in the Agricultural sector of an economy, the sector would not flourish. Therefore the thrust of this conceptual study was to identify the problems associated with the marketing of Agricultural products with a view to proffering recommendations of the best marketing practices to adopt in order to boost the Agricultural sector of the economy for economic growth and sustainable development. This article focuses on small-scale food processing enterprises (SSFPEs) as one of the important
measures for national development and addressing food security challenges, particularly in Nigeria. The roles,
challenges, prospects and measures of SSFPE’s development in Nigeria were discussed. The need for food
processing following the extent of food losses and wastages in Nigeria was emphasized. Efforts made at
ensuring food security in developing countries, with particular reference to Nigeria were also discussed. The
contributions of engineering in enhancing food processing and productivity in Nigeria in the areas of
mechanization of food processing unit operations, development of new and existing technologies, design and
development of machinery and systems for processing and preservation of different agricultural produce of high
target were also discussed. This will facilitate the achievement of the technical roles of food processing. SSFPEs
play important roles in the economy of a developing country, particularly in terms of employment creation,
income generation, post-harvest losses reduction, food preservation, value addition, improvement of food safety
and nutritional quality, increase in shelf-life of a product, and act as training grounds for entrepreneurs before
they invest in large scale enterprises. SSFPEs in Nigeria are faced with significant challenges that compromise
their ability to function and to contribute optimally to the economy. Financial constraints and lack of
management skills are the major constraints, among others. The long-term effect in the economic and national
development can be achieved through the development of small-scale food processing techniques, and these
culminate to rapid food processing and industrialization. In view of this, it is recommended that governments
and non-governmental organizations should encourage and facilitate the development of SSFPEs either by
funding or regularly organizing seminars for potential small-scale food enterprises’ operators on how to plan,
organize, direct and control their businesses.
The Effect of Commercial Banks Credit on Agricultural Sector’s Contribution t...ijtsrd
This study is an analysis of the effect of commercial banks’ credit to agriculture on the agricultural sector’s contribution to Nigerian real gross domestic product from 1986 to 2020. Specifically, this study ascertained the effect of commercial banks’ credit to agriculture, inflation rate and interest rate on the agricultural sector’s contribution to real gross domestic product. The Autoregressive Distributive Lag ARDL was the econometric tool of analysis employed using data sourced from the statistical bulletins of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN . The findings of this study in its totality unveiled statistically that commercial banks’ credit to agriculture does not affect the sector’s contribution to real gross domestic product. In the light of the findings, there is a critical need for commercial banks to increase loans to agricultural enterprises through a reduction in interest rate charge for agricultural purposes, which in turn permits for greater economic growth and development. The Central Bank of Nigeria can encourage this through a reduction in the monetary policy rate which inflicts the high interest rate charged by the commercial banks. The Central Bank of Nigeria can also appeal to the commercial banks to reduce their collateral requirements to encourage more farmers, especially the rural farmers to have access to finance for agricultural production. Access to Agricultural Credit and Cassava Production A Study of Selected Coop...YogeshIJTSRD
This study examined access to agricultural credit and cassava production A study of selected cooperative farmers in Anambra State, Nigeria. This study adopted a descriptive survey research design that aimed to determine the relationship between the independent variables and dependent variable in a population. The population of this study was made up of 2978 members of selected thirty six cooperative societies in Anambra State. A sample of 353 was determined for the study using Taro Yamani formula. A structured questionnaire was administered to 353 respondents only 348 responded to the questionnaire. The data collected using the questionnaire was analyzed using descriptive statistics like frequency, mean and standard deviation and also inferential statistics such as regression analysis and t test statistics. All analysis was conducted using SPSS version 23. Findings show that all the five coefficients cost of cooperative credit, amount of credit borrowed, loan repayment period, interest paid and loan repayment performance significantly influence cassava production in Anambra State. In general, the joint effect of the explanatory variables independent variables in the model account for 0.883 or 88.3 of the variations in the influence of cooperative credit on cassava production in Anambra State, Nigeria. This implies that 88.3 of the variations in the cassava production are being accounted for or explained by the variations in the explanatory variables. While other independent variables not captured in the model explain just 11.7 of the variations in cassava production. The study therefore recommends that credit institutions should supervise and spread the repayment period for credit obtained in such a way that the cost will not be heavy. Adequate credit facilities should be provided for farmers to enable them increase their production capacity. The loan repayment period for the farmers should be well spread to enhance their productivity among others. Low interest rate should be charged farmer to enable them reduce their rate of defaulting repayment. Nwafor, Grace Obiageli | Umebali, Emmanuel E. Enhancing Cooperative Thrift and Loan Scheme for Increased Agricultural Produ...ijtsrd
This study assessed ways of enhancing cooperative thrift and loan scheme for increased agricultural production in Udi local government area of Enugu state. To achieve this, the study ascertained the effect of cooperative credit on member’s agricultural production, determined the effect of cooperative savings on member’s agricultural input, and examined the extent to which access to loan to cooperative members increase their standard of living. Data were obtained from Eight functional and active cooperative in the area. The researcher adopted a descriptive research design and made use of survey to make generalization based on findings of the study and also adopted a judgmental sampling technique, Taro Yamane formula was used to determine the same size of 120, The data obtained were analysed using simple percentage frequency distribution tables and likert scale. The stated hypothesis was tested using Pearson’s product moment correlation analysis. Evidence from the study revealed that cooperative thrift and loan scheme plays a significant role on the agricultural production of members. Therefore, the researcher recommended that cooperative should provide more credit and thrifting services to members. Cooperative savings has a positive effect on Agricultural inputs therefore the cooperative should encourage their members to save and invest in viable agricultural businesses, such as poultry, piggery, fishery etc Government should also create an enabling environments for these cooperatives to thrive and Government should assist members with agricultural inputs, credit and supplies through their cooperatives. Performance Implication of Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program...ijtsrd
In a bid to revitalize the ailing agricultural sector in Nigeria, several programmes have been introduced by the government, one of such programmes is Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program Phase 1 Atasp 1 . Hence, this study was necessitated to look at the performance implication of the programme on participant farmers in Southeast Nigeria. The study specifically determined the effect of ATASP 1 interventions on the farm income of participants and ascertained the effect of ATASP 1 intervention on the farm profit of participants. A survey research design was adopted for the study. A total of 8,585 Rice 3248 and Cassava 5337 farmers are participating in the programme from Anambra and Enugu constituted the population for the study. A multi stage sampling technique was employed by the researcher. Taro Yamane sample size determination formula was further used to derive the sample size 730 of the study. R. Kumaison formula was adopted to allocate sample stratum for the study. Primary and secondary data were collected and used in the study. A combination of descriptive, regression and inferential statistics were utilized in data analysis. Results revealed that Pseudo R2 was 0.435 which implies that 43.5 variation in farmer's income was explained by the joint action of the programme interventions and that the Pseudo R2 was 0.300 which implies that the programme interventions explained 30.0 variation in the profit of farmers. Hence, it was concluded that ATASP 1 is a signifant and right step in the right direction to regalvanize the agricultural sector and give it the pride of place it desearves. Exploratory Model of the Impact of Agriculture on Nigerian Economyijtsrd
This paper explored four models in determining the impact of four agricultural sub-sectors of on the Nigerian GDP. The data is on the contribution of four different sub-sectors of agriculture on Nigerian Economy and was obtained from Central Bank of Nigeria statistical bulletin. The findings revealed that ridge regression and PCR are good regression estimation methods for predicting GDP. From the models there is strong indication that fish production in Nigeria is too insufficient to sustain her ever increasing population and improve her economy. Also, the ever increasing demand for fish by Nigerians due to high cost of meat in the market is clearly shown in the models and this stands to say that a lot need to be done to improve fish production in Nigeria to ensure sustainable growth and development. Evaluation of the Impacts of International Agricultural Investments on the Ec...ijtsrd
Food and nutritional sufficiency is a daunting task for national governments and for a long time has remained a political and economic score point given its crucial nature in all national and international discussions. The impact of its importance makes it a core issue of policy making and lack of its management is a possible candidate for national emergency. This study has considered the relevance of international financial intervention in the socio economic balance of developing nations within the framework of agriculture and food production. The need for this investment is the resultant effect of lack of opportunity or unavailability of alternatives arising from poor public policy frameworks that has been shown to suffocate local agricultural production capacities. In the light of the understanding of this menace, the study analyzed the various incidental challenges and their possible solutions which culminate into the accommodation of private investment within public interest, which is more popularly referred to, as, public private partnership arrangements, indicating how it has enabled domesticated economies climb on the shoulders of global economic giants. The succinct recommendations of the study in respect of the design and implementation of public policy framework is very instructive and intended to be a springboard to significant successes. E. O. Effect of Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program Phase 1 Atasp 1 ...ijtsrd
This study examined the effect of Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Programme Phase 1 ATASP 1 on Farmers Performance in Southeast, Nigeria. It used a well structured questionnaire to collect data from a cross section of randomly selected 730 respondents. A combination of analytical tools such as descriptive statistics, Tobit and multiple regression analysis and inferential statistics were used for analysis. The study found that 56.6 of the farmers are males with an average age of 44 years, who are 87.8 married and have 10 years of formal schooling. Apart from over 19 years farming experience, the average 6 people per household is large enough to supply cheap family labour to the farmers. The study found out that the programme interventions are classified into three important components, which are infrastructure, financial market and commodity value chain development. It was also revealed that farmers adopted the following agricultural technologies the use of improved seed varieties, the use of ICT extension facilities, and keeping a good farm processing record to track changes, among others. The study, therefore, recommended among others, that the programme implementers need to be transparent in their disbursement and implementation of the project mandates and that there is a need to improve the literacy level of the farmers, as this will go a long way to improve their possibilities of technology adoption. Use of Social Media in the Marketing of Agricultural Products and Farmers Tur...ijtsrd
The study sought to determine the extent to which the usage of social media in the marketing of agricultural products in South West Nigeria can enhance farmers turnover. It employed the survey research design to collect data with the help of a structured questionnaire to elicit information from respondents selected from six 6 south western states. Research data were analysed using structural equation modelling. The results showed that the use of social media WhatsApp and Facebook in marketing of agricultural products significantly enhances farmers turnover. The managerial implication is that use of Whatsapp and Facebook in the marketing of agricultural products for the enhancement of farmers’ turnover was found to have significant influence on the enhancement in farmers’ turnover from agricultural products. Policy makers in government should provide the enabling environment for the telecommunication companies to enhance their reach by installing their facilities across the length and breadth of the country so that the network coverage will be strong at all times so that the benefits of social media usage will not be constrained. In recent times, agricultural sector has returned to the forefront of development issues in Nigeria given its contribution to employment creation, sustainable food supply and provision of raw materials to other sectors of the economy. In lieu of that, this study examines the impact of agriculture on the economic growth in Nigeria using annual time series data covering the sample period of 1981 to 2018. To analyse the data collected, Autoregression Distributed Lag (ARDL) model through the bounds testing framework is employed to measure the presence of cointegrating relations between real GDP, agricultural productivity, labour force, and agricultural export. Results show the presence of both short-run and long-run relationship among the variables, and that agriculture has a positive and significant impact on economic growth in Nigeria. These findings inform the Nigerian government on the need to expedite labour force (human capital) and agricultural export (non-oil) development with the view to achieving sustainable growth and development. In addition, developing skills and competencies of labour force through capacity building in the agricultural sector will encourage research and development thereby increase the export size, hence essential for long-term growth.

The research was carried out to empirically examine the effect of financial literacy reporting on the profitability of small scale enterprises in Bayelsa state, Nigeria. Sample of small scale enterprises in Yenagoa city of Bayelsa state was taken, Linear Regression with Ordinary Least Square was used to test the hypotheses with the aid of SPSS version 20.0. The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between financial literacy reporting and profitability of small scale enterprises. The study recommended that it is evident that financial behavior is an important contributor to profitability of SMEs, and that a statewide financial literacy week campaign be instituted by ministries and agencies in collaboration with SME and well targeted at business owners in rural areas, financial institutions should observe thoroughly the type of businesses, knowledge in the type of businesses etc. before granting loans to small scale enterprises, access to finance is not necessarily a route to success for small scale enterprises but crucially, they need mentorship and business skills transfer to make the transition to becoming established in the formal sector and, in addition to other recommendations, SMEs must hire financial experts to help them manage their businesses as well as to deal with the issue of financial record keeping. Microfinance Credit and Agricultural Sector Output in Nigeriaijtsrd
This study focused on microfinance credit and agricultural sector output in Nigeria. The main objective is to examine the effect of microfinance credit on agricultural sector output in Nigeria. The specific objectives are to find out the effect of microfinance loan, microfinance deposit and shareholder’s fund on agricultural sector output in Nigeria. The data were obtained from Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical Bulletin for the period 1992 to 2019. The Autoregressive Distributive Lag approach which is apt for data with mixed order of integration was employed to regress the microfinance credit variables on agricultural sector output which is the dependent variable The empirical analyses revealed that microfinance loans and microfinance deposits had a positive effect on Agricultural sector output while shareholders fund had negative effect on agricultural sector output in Nigeria. This work indicates that microfinance credit has only short run effect on Agricultural sector output in Nigeria. These findings depict among others that the micro financing hub of the financial system is capable of driving short term investment needs of the agricultural sector. The study recommends that an enabling environment capable of supporting the microfinance banks in microcredit delivery should be provided. This can be achieved by government, through mandating the CBN to undertake the responsibility of writing off at least 50 of losses incurred by micro finance institutions in an attempt to extend credits to rural dwellers who essentially engage in agriculture. They should also ensure that agricultural inputs which are made available to the rural farmers get to them not to the politicians and civil servants. This study dwelt on Effects of Agricultural Extension Services on the Performance of Members of Women Agricultural Cooperatives in Southeast Nigeria. Nigerian agricultural system has not been living up to expectation, despite the wide range of programmes, policies and approaches that have been formulated for its enhancement and sustenance. Multistage random sampling technique was adopted to select 399 respondents of the women agricultural cooperative members. Primary data was sourced through the use of structured questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed with both descriptive and inferential statistics with the help of SPSS version 23 and strata 14 software. The descriptive statistics used include frequency distribution table, simple percentages, weighted mean and mean threshold of five point likert scale measure while inferential statistics used include regression, and ANOVA, which were used for the test of hypotheses formulated. The result of hypothesis one revealed that the socioeconomic characteristics of the members of the women agricultural cooperative have significant influence on the use of extension services with Age 2.07 ,level of education 3.39 ,main occupation 2.46 and income 3.25.Hypotheses 2 and 3 also revealed that the level of use of agricultural extension services have significant effect on the women's income and output performance indices with F statistics value of 107.42 ,72.11 and r 0.4622,0.3658 respectively. It is recommended that women farmers need education and training for better understanding of extension services and programmes which will provide assistance to them, for improved agricultural production. Women agricultural cooperative members need training on financial inclusion that they can use all available sources of credit for enhancement of agricultural activities and this will boost food security in the Southeast and Nigeria in general. Oil, a very versatile and flexible non-productive, depleting, natural (hydrocarbon) resource is a fundamental input to modern economic activities providing about 50 percent of the total energy demanded in the world apart from the former centrally planned economy. The countries dealing with oil exploiting in the world depend heavily on oil revenue for foreign exchange earnings and for the government budget, in most cases, reaching 90 percent or above. Few studies have been carried out in this regard yet there is no conclusion as to the key factors that determine economic growth. This study determines the influence of Oil revenue on economic growth of Nigeria. The study uses domestic consumption and export as proxies for Oil revenue, and represents economic growth with real gross domestic product. Using 33 years time series observations, the study used Ordinary least square method. The study covers the period from 1980 to 2013. Secondary data source was acquired from the central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Statistical bulletin. The study found that both domestic consumption and export has positive and significant influence on economic growth of Nigeria. The study recommends that, the domestic consumption and crude oil export sales should be increased in order to have the gross domestic product increased as this will put the country on a better scale. But this will have to be done by balancing the domestic consumption with the export of oil.
This reduction in supply along with the support by a number of Government schemes, including MGNREGA has led to an escalation in farm wages which is adversely impacting the profitability of the farmer. Rural wages have been growing by 17% on average since 2006-07 outstripping urban wages. At the same time, the increase in wages, without an increase in productivity, is fueling inflation.

Among others, the study recommended that there is a need for the programme to increase its efforts on financial market development intervention and that the programme implementers and policymakers are encouraged to increase their intervention in rural areas.

The Impact of Digital Media on the Decentralization of Power and the Erosion ...ijtsrd
The impact of digital media on the distribution of power and the weakening of traditional gatekeepers has gained considerable attention in recent years. The adoption of digital technologies and the internet has resulted in declining influence and power for traditional gatekeepers such as publishing houses and news organizations. Simultaneously, digital media has facilitated the emergence of new voices and players in the media industry. Digital medias impact on power decentralization and gatekeeper erosion is visible in several ways. One significant aspect is the democratization of information, which enables anyone with an internet connection to publish and share content globally, leading to citizen journalism and bypassing traditional gatekeepers. Another aspect is the disruption of conventional media industry business models, as traditional organizations struggle to adjust to the decrease in advertising revenue and the rise of digital platforms. Alternative business models, such as subscription models and crowdfunding, have become more prevalent, leading to the emergence of new players. Overall, the impact of digital media on the distribution of power and the weakening of traditional gatekeepers has brought about significant changes in the media landscape and the way information is shared. Further research is required to fully comprehend the implications of these changes and their impact on society. A Study on the Effective Teaching Learning Process in English Curriculum at t...ijtsrd
“One Language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way” Frank Smith English as a foreign language or as a second language has been ruling in India since the period of Lord Macaulay. But the question is how much we teach or learn English properly in our culture. Is there any scope to use English as a language rather than a subject How much we learn or teach English without any interference of mother language specially in the classroom teaching learning scenario in West Bengal By considering all these issues the researcher has attempted in this article to focus on the effective teaching learning process comparing to other traditional strategies in the field of English curriculum at the secondary level to investigate whether they fulfill the present teaching learning requirements or not by examining the validity of the present curriculum of English. The purpose of this study is to focus on the effectiveness of the systematic, scientific, sequential and logical transaction of the course between the teachers and the learners in the perspective of the 5Es programme that is engage, explore, explain, extend and evaluate. The Role of Mentoring and Its Influence on the Effectiveness of the Teaching ...ijtsrd
This paper reports on a study which was conducted to investigate the role of mentoring and its influence on the effectiveness of the teaching of Physics in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. The study adopted the convergent parallel mixed methods design, focusing on respondents in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected, analysed separately, and the results were compared to see if the findings confirm or disconfirm each other. The quantitative analysis found that majority of the respondents 72 of Physics teachers affirmed that they had more experienced colleagues as mentors to help build their confidence, improve their teaching, and help them improve their effectiveness and efficiency in guiding learners’ achievements. Only 28 of the respondents disagreed with these statements. With majority respondents 72 agreeing with the statements, it implies that in most secondary schools, experienced Physics teachers act as mentors to build teachers’ confidence in teaching and improving students’ learning. The interview qualitative data analysis summarized how secondary school Principals use meetings with mentors and mentees to promote mentorship in the school milieu. This has helped strengthen teachers’ classroom practices in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. With the results confirming each other, the study recommends that mentoring should focus on helping teachers employ social interactions and instructional practices feedback and clarity in teaching that have direct measurable impact on students’ learning achievements. Design Simulation and Hardware Construction of an Arduino Microcontroller Bas...ijtsrd
This study primarily focuses on the design of a high side buck converter using an Arduino microcontroller. The converter is specifically intended for use in DC DC applications, particularly in standalone solar PV systems where the PV output voltage exceeds the load or battery voltage. To evaluate the performance of the converter, simulation experiments are conducted using Proteus Software. These simulations provide insights into the input and output voltages, currents, powers, and efficiency under different state of charge SoC conditions of a 12V,70Ah rechargeable lead acid battery. Additionally, the hardware design of the converter is implemented, and practical data is collected through operation, monitoring, and recording. By comparing the simulation results with the practical results, the efficiency and performance of the designed converter are assessed. The findings indicate that while the buck converter is suitable for practical use in standalone PV systems, its efficiency is compromised due to a lower output current. Sustainable Energy by Paul A. Adekunte | Matthew N. O. Sadiku | Janet O. Sadikuijtsrd
Energy becomes sustainable if it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Some of the definitions of sustainable energy include the considerations of environmental aspects such as greenhouse gas emissions, social, and economic aspects such as energy poverty. Generally far more sustainable than fossil fuel are renewable energy sources such as wind, hydroelectric power, solar, and geothermal energy sources. Worthy of note is that some renewable energy projects, like the clearing of forests to produce biofuels, can cause severe environmental damage. The sustainability of nuclear power which is a low carbon source is highly debated because of concerns about radioactive waste, nuclear proliferation, and accidents. The switching from coal to natural gas has environmental benefits, including a lower climate impact, but could lead to delay in switching to more sustainable options. “Carbon capture and storage” can be built into power plants to remove the carbon dioxide CO2 emissions, but this technology is expensive and has rarely been implemented. Leading non renewable energy sources around the world is fossil fuels, coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Nuclear energy is usually considered another non renewable energy source, although nuclear energy itself is a renewable energy source, but the material used in nuclear power plants is not. The paper addresses the issue of sustainable energy, its attendant benefits to the future generation, and humanity in general. Paul A. Adekunte | Matthew N. O. Sadiku | Janet O. Concepts for Sudan Survey Act Implementations Executive Regulations and Stand...ijtsrd
This paper aims to outline the executive regulations, survey standards, and specifications required for the implementation of the Sudan Survey Act, and for regulating and organizing all surveying work activities in Sudan. The act has been discussed for more than 5 years. The Land Survey Act was initiated by the Sudan Survey Authority and all official legislations were headed by the Sudan Ministry of Justice till it was issued in 2022. The paper presents conceptual guidelines to be used for the Survey Act implementation and to regulate the survey work practice, standardizing the field surveys, processing, quality control, procedures, and the processes related to survey work carried out by the stakeholders and relevant authorities in Sudan. The conceptual guidelines are meant to improve the quality and harmonization of geospatial data and to aid decision making processes as well as geospatial information systems. The established comprehensive executive regulations will govern and regulate the implementation of the Sudan Survey Geomatics Act in all surveying and mapping practices undertaken by the Sudan Survey Authority SSA and state local survey departments for public or private sector organizations. The targeted standards and specifications include the reference frame, projection, coordinate systems, and the guidelines and specifications that must be followed in the field of survey work, processes, and mapping products. In the last few decades, there has been a growing awareness of the importance of geomatics activities and measurements on the Earths surface in space and time, together with observing and mapping the changes. In such cases, data must be captured promptly, standardized, and obtained with more accuracy and specified in much detail. The paper will also highlight the current situation in Sudan, the degree to which survey standards are used, the problems encountered, and the errors that arise from not using the standards and survey specifications. Towards the Implementation of the Sudan Interpolated Geoid Model Khartoum Sta...ijtsrd
The discussions between ellipsoid and geoid have invoked many researchers during the recent decades, especially during the GNSS technology era, which had witnessed a great deal of development but still geoid undulation requires more investigations. To figure out a solution for Sudans local geoid, this research has tried to intake the possibility of determining the geoid model by following two approaches, gravimetric and geometrical geoid model determination, by making use of GNSS leveling benchmarks at Khartoum state. The Benchmarks are well distributed in the study area, in which, the horizontal coordinates and the height above the ellipsoid have been observed by GNSS while orthometric heights were carried out using precise leveling. The Global Geopotential Model GGM represented in EGM2008 has been exploited to figure out the geoid undulation at the benchmarks in the study area. This is followed by a fitting process, that has been done to suit the geoid undulation data which has been computed using GNSS leveling data and geoid undulation inspired by the EGM2008. Two geoid surfaces were created after the fitting process to ensure that they are identical and both of them could be counted for getting the same geoid undulation with an acceptable accuracy. In this respect, statistical operation played an important role in ensuring the consistency and integrity of the model by applying cross validation techniques splitting the data into training and testing datasets for building the geoid model and testing its eligibility. The geometrical solution for geoid undulation computation has been utilized by applying straightforward equations that facilitate the calculation of the geoid undulation directly through applying statistical techniques for the GNSS leveling data of the study area to get the common equation parameters values that could be utilized to calculate geoid undulation of any position in the study area within the claimed accuracy. Both systems were checked and proved eligible to be used within the study area with acceptable accuracy which may contribute to solving the geoid undulation problem in the Khartoum area, and be further generalized to determine the geoid model over the entire country, and this could be considered in the future, for regional and continental geoid model. Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

nation's economic growth. The current economic
situation in the country have been attributed to poor
performance of the agricultural sector and over
dependence on crude oil as the major source of
foreign exchange earnings (Ojo, 2001). The
realization of this fact have led the government of
Nigeria to strongly advocate for the boost of the
agricultural sector performance and diversification of
the economy from crude oil to non-oil products
exportation. Series of attempts have been made by
past and present government to enhance agriculture
but the sector has continued to perform poorly.
Researchers have also made various contributions on
how to improve agricultural sector performance.
Ahungwa et al. (2014) suggested that there must be a
shift from agriculture to agripreneurship as a pathway
to revitalize Nigerian Agricultural sector and to make
it a sustainable means of economic development.
Agripreneurship is a new concept in global
agriculture, geared towards transforming agriculture
from its largely subsistence level to becoming a
competitive enterprise(Nwankwo E. C et al, 2021).
The concept of agripreneurship in the fields of
entrepreneurship and agriculture is virtually new.
Accordingly, there is a paucity of literature on
agripreneurship and agripreneurship development.
This research therefore bridges the literature gap. It
builds on the few existing literature on
agripreneurship. Moreover, as regards the current
economic recession that Nigeria is witnessing,
previous research proffered different solutions,
ranging from structural to economic reforms. This
study nonetheless tried to specifically recommend
agripreneurship development as a strategic tool for
economic growth and development of the economy.
Therefore, the thrust of this paper is to explore
agripreneurship development as a strategic tool for
economic recovery and sustainable development in
Nigeria.
2. Literature Review
2.1. Definition of Agripreneurship
Sudharani (2002) sees agripreneurship as “generally
sustainable, community oriented, directly marketed
agriculture. Sustainable agriculture denotes a holistic,
systems-oriented approach to farming that focuses on
the interrelationships of social, economic and
environmental process.” Gray (2002) on the other
hand defines an entrepreneur as an individual who
manages a business with the intention of expanding
the business and with the leadership and managerial
skills necessary for achieving those goals. In the face
of growing unemployment and poverty in the nation
and poor growth of agricultural sector performance
there is need of entrepreneurship in agriculture for
more productivity and profitability of agricultural
sector. The Agripreneurship programme is imperative
for the development of entrepreneurs and
management workforce to cater agricultural Industry
across the world (Kular & Brar, 2011).
Agripreneurship has its foundation from the fields of
agriculture and entrepreneurship (Nwibo et al., 2016).
Thus, it is coined from two different words:
agriculture and entrepreneurship. Agriculture is
derived from two Latin words “Ager” and “Cultura.”
Ager means “land“ and “Cultura” means
“Cultivation”. Put the two words together, agriculture
means land cultivation i.e. tilling the soil and
preparing it for planting of corps (Uturu, 2002).
Entrepreneurship, on the other hand, consists of
initiative taking, organization of resources and
acceptance of risks in exploring and exploiting
business opportunities (Kuratko, 2009). Thus,
agripreneurship can be defined as the ability and
willingness of a person to recognize viable
agricultural business opportunity, gather resources,
establish and manage the resulting agribusiness
successfully. Agripreneurship development therefore
is defined as the process whereby people are taught
agripreneurial knowledge, skills and competencies
that are required to start and manage an agribusiness
successfully. Agripreneurship development, in the
context of this paper, is also called agripreneurship
education. Basically, the major objective of
agripreneurship development is to create agripreneurs
for improved agricultural sector performance (Uneze,
2012). It helps to instill agripreneurship tradition in to
people and to motivate them to embrace agribusiness
as a career. Consequently, it influences people’s
intentions and attitudes toward choosing agribusiness
as a career, by making agriculture attractive.
Agripreneurship development equips people with the
agripreneurial skills, competencies and the insight
that they need to identify and utilize profitable
business opportunities in agriculture.
2.2. Importance and Objectives of
Agripreneurship
Agripreneurship plays a vital role not only in
stimulating production and consumption, but in
accelerating the pace of economic growth and
development. The agripreneurship system plays a
dual role in economic development in nations whose
resources are primarily agricultural. Increasing
demands for money with which to procure other
goods leads to increasing sensitivity to relative prices
on the part of the producers, and specialization in the
cultivation of those crops on which the returns are the
greatest, subject to socio-cultural, economic and
ecological constraints. It is the marketing system that
conveys the crucial price signals. Agripreneurship

increases the gross Domestic Product(GDP) of a
economies thereby enhancing their standard of living.
2.2.1. The objectives of an efficient
Agripreneurship system are:
1. To enable primary producers to obtain the best
possible returns,
2. To provide facilities for enhancing all produce,
the farmers are willing, to sell at a good price,
3. To reduce the price difference between the
primary producer and ultimate consumer.
4. To make available all products of farm origin to
consumers at reasonable price without affecting
the quality of the produce.
2.3. Customer Satisfaction:-
For most agricultural products, customer satisfaction
has a strong positive effect on critical success factors
such as customer loyalty (Serenko, 2006). Customer
satisfaction is the level to which a firm fulfills a
customer’s needs, desires and expectations better than
competitors Perreault et al (2009). In the global
market, every producer competes with each other for
the same customer such that a single bad contact
experience can have an exponential ripple effect
(Jobber, 2004). A well organised complaints handling
process can have an influence on customer
satisfaction. Customers who complain and are well
attended to can be more satisfied and less likely to
switch than customers who had no reason for
complaints at all (Nyer, 2000).
Thus, agripreneurship cannot, nonetheless be planned
and executed in isolation of the development,
dynamism and improvement occurring in the business
world. The growth of the agricultural sector
performance is vital and indispensable so as to meet
the challenges of the modern world. The concept of
agripreneurship development will lead to effective
and efficient distribution of product and livestock to
the consumers at the right place, at the right price and
time.
2.4. Constraints of Agripreneurship
Development in Nigeria
A lot of barriers militate against successful
agripreneurship development. Some of the constraints
are as follows:
Insufficient funds militate against agripreneurship
development. On the part of the government, this
could mean insufficient funds to establish
agripreneurship development centers and or to
organize agripreneurship development programmes
(ADPs) for the purpose of training and developing
both current and potential
agripreneurs. Consequently, on the part of the
trained agripreneurs, it could mean insufficient capital
to start an agribusiness of their choice.
People’s attitude toward agriculture and agribusiness
is also a challenge. So many individuals, especially
the youths, do not like to choose agribusiness as a
career. Many graduates have abandoned agriculture
for white collar jobs. Some people erroneously think
that agriculture is meant for the people in the rural
areas.
Poor agricultural infrastructure work against
successful agripreneurship development. The
agricultural infrastructure referred to are: agricultural
machinery, storage facilities, improved seeds and
agrochemicals, irrigation facilities, energy,
transportation and marketing infrastructure. Lack of
agricultural-related policies and laws can obstruct
agripreneurship development. Many countries do not
have agricultural-related policies and laws that
encourage people to go into agriculture and
agribusiness.
Paucity of agricultural specialists with the modern
agripreneurial knowledge and competencies militate
against agripreneurship development. Let it be
reiterated that agriculture has developed
tremendously lately. Therefore, people who are
already into agriculture or those who would like to
venture into it in the future need to be equipped with
the knowledge on the modern farming techniques and
practices. Where people are willing to be trained, the
unavailability or shortage of professionals with
modern agripreneurial expertise affect their training
negatively.
3. Conclusion
The level of unfavorable growth of macroeconomic
variables such as decline in gross Domestic product,
skyrocketing inflation, high interest rate and high
unemployment rate indicate that the economyis in the
state of recession.
As mentioned at the introductory section, Nigeria’s
economy delved into full recession when the GDP
revealed negative growth continuouslyin the first and
second quarters of 2016 till date. Although the
Nigerian Government has come up with different
economic policies and structural reforms to reverse
this trend, policymakers, economic analysts and
renowned scholars have advocated for diversification
of the economy (Otache I, 2017). Consequently,
individuals and institutions have suggested
agricultural transformation as one of the ways Nigeria
can recover from recession. Aforementioned,
agriculture has undergone a lot of developments in
the recent times. Unfortunately, Nigeria’s agricultural
sector, which is supposed to be one of the major
contributors to her gross domestic product, have
suffered outright neglect in the past by successive
Nigerian Governments. Furthermore, the Nigerian

youths, especially graduates, have abandoned
agriculture for white collar jobs whose demands far
outweigh its supplies, thereby resulting in mass
unemployment.
It is no longer news that Nigeria’s economy is in the
state of recession. it should be stressed at this juncture
that recovering from an economic recession does not
happen by mere wishes. The Nigerian Government
and Nigerians must take practical steps to reverse this
trend. In this regard, while agriculture is regarded as
the vehicle that a country can use to move out of
economic recession, agripreneurship development is
the engine that actually propels the wheel of steering
the economy out of recession (Otache I, 2017). Thus,
considering the benefits of agripreneurship
development already discussed, this paper stresses the
need for agripreneurship development as a strategy
for economic recovery and sustainable development
in Nigeria. It should be stressed that Nigeria has a
vast area of agricultural land (about 48 million
hectares) that is uncultivated This means that there
are great opportunities such as export earnings and
employment opportunities that abound in the
agricultural sector that could be utilized for economic
growth and development.
3.1. Recommendations
1. The government should provide funding to
agripreneurs beyond what the commercial and
microfinance banks can provide. To do this, the
government could budget certain amount of
money to be offered to agripreneurs in the form of
short-term loans at a zero or reduced interest rate
through selected banks or agencies. In the same
vien, the government through the Central Bank of
Nigeria, can instruct all commercial banks to
reserve certain amount of money to be given
specifically to small-scale agripreneurs at a
reduced interest rate and with less difficult
conditions.
2. The government should subsidize agricultural
inputs such as tractors,, improved seeds, feeds and
agrochemicals for the agripreneurs. Recently,
farming has become capital intensive.
Agripreneurs need huge amount of funds to be
able to start a particular agribusiness. The
government can help agripreneurs by subsidizing
certain agricultural inputs with a view to
improving agricultural productivity.
3. Though the government may not be directly
involved in agriculture, it is its responsibility to
provide a suitable environment for agriculture to
flourish. Thus, the government in its budget
appropriation should allocate sufficient funds to
the agricultural sector. This will enable it to
provide the necessary infrastructure such as good
road network, adequate power supply and
adequate storage facilities to assist agripreneurs.
4. There is a widespread apathy among Nigerians
toward agriculture. The Nigerian Government
should initiate and execute sensitization
programmes that will aid in changing people’s
attitude toward agriculture. Nigerians, particularly
the youths should be made to see agriculture as a
reliable and noble source of livelihood.
5. Agripreneurship development should be a major
part of the nation's School curriculum. This will
help in inculcating the importance of
entrepreneurship in Agriculture and it's benefits to
them (the students) as well as the country at large.
6. The Nigerian Government, especially the
legislative sector should formulate policies and
laws in favour of agripreneurship, this will attract
more people to invest in the Agricultural sector.
When policies are formulated to favour and
facilitate Agricultural investment, it is important
that these policies are well implemented the
government should set up strategies to ensure that
the formulated policies are effectively
implemented.
