Our analysis of the 2012 financial performance of the top 100 aerospace companies sees no change in the top 10 companies, but includes some new names from China and Russia. While merger and acquisition activity was subdued after the 2008 financial crisis, 2012 saw a rebound in dealmaking activity as companies seek to diversify their business. Overall profitability for the industry is strong and higher than historical norms, as aviation continues to grow faster than the global economy. The report predicts that consolidation within the aerospace supply chain is likely to continue in the coming years.
Germany has a large and innovative aerospace industry, being the third largest in Europe. It has over 155 companies and over 93,000 employees. The industry is growing and projects strong long-term demand. Major global aerospace companies like Airbus and Rolls-Royce have large manufacturing facilities in Germany. The industry focuses on areas like aircraft structures, engines, maintenance, and military aviation. However, the supply chain is fragmented and Germany lacks strong systems integrators. This creates opportunities for foreign companies to partner with German firms or take over work packages.
This document discusses sustainability reporting and whether companies have to report on sustainability issues. It defines sustainability and outlines different sustainability reporting standards and frameworks. The document notes that while sustainability reporting is not mandatory for all companies, there are external pressures from regulations, advocacy groups, consumers, and investors that are driving more companies to report. It also discusses the benefits companies can realize by reporting, such as minimizing risks, improving reputation and brand, and increasing innovation. The document provides an overview of the major sustainability reporting standards and guidelines.
This document summarizes a presentation about sustainability reporting. It discusses why businesses should engage in sustainability reporting to protect and enhance value. Total impact reporting was presented as going beyond traditional reporting to measure environmental, social and economic impacts. Examples were given of companies like Puma and British Land conducting environmental profit and loss accounting and assessing wider socioeconomic impacts. The document emphasizes moving towards reporting on impacts and outcomes over outputs.
The global aerospace industry is driven primarily by growth in the civil and military aviation sectors. While the industry was estimated at $97 billion in 2007, the current global economic slowdown has caused uncertainty. However, air travel has become integral to the modern world. Long term, growth is expected to continue from factors like increased travel in emerging markets and military spending. India presents opportunities in both manufacturing and MRO services for the aerospace industry.
Elevating Sustainability Reporting with Advanced Energy and Water Data Collec...Urjanet
Sustainability and "going green" are increasingly becoming high priority topics on the agenda of C-level executives and public officials. More organizations are looking into sustainability management and view reporting as an opportunity to build brand trust, satisfy key stakeholders, and identify areas for improvement. Yet, many organizations struggle to collect and organize the data they need to power their reports and management systems.
This webinar dives into why high quality data is critical for sustainability reporting and sheds light upon the energy and water data collection challenges organizations are facing today. Our expert panel discusses advanced energy and water data collection and standardization methods and explains how this data can be leveraged in software to provide actionable insights. This session features Alisdair McDougall from Verdantix, Erik Becker from Urjanet, and Alistair Blackmore from CRedit360.

Aerospace and Defence Sector Diversification | ACMAIndia ACMA
Over the years the years, Indian auto component players have strongly integrated themselves into the global automotive supply chain primarily through their established manufacturing processes and world-class quality. They have been the torchbearers of Indian auto industry’s success story and a case study for our frugal manufacturing skills. The auto component sector has been the face of “Make in India” drive for more than a decade.
Indian defence and aerospace sector is fast emerging as the sunrise sector and will take the centre stage in government’s “Make in India” drive. The government’s push for indigenization in defence and growing interest from global commercial aerospace players to source from Indian suppliers, have opened up multiple supply chain opportunities for Indian private players.
We strongly feel, ACMA members are best positioned to grab these opportunities in the sector due to their proven manufacturing capabilities. The Indian auto component players have all the right ingredients in place to repeat the success story of automotive in aerospace & defence sector. This is the right time for the ACMA member companies to devise a clear strategy and come out with an action plan for the sector.
In this context, KPMG had been appointed by ACMA to assist them in their endeavour towards diversification into aerospace & defence. Our efforts have received overwhelming support from the global aerospace & defence companies and have been
successful in positioning ACMA as the right partner for the global OEMs and Tier1s who are looking at sourcing from India.
We are glad to jointly release the Aerospace & Defence sector diversification report with KPMG. The report captures the sector’s landscape, opportunities, challenges and outlines the road map for the ACMA members who are aspiring to be a part of the sector. We hope you will find this document useful and informative in planning your next steps.

My research paper for Managerial Economics, Spring 2010. The paper analyzes the structure of the aerospace industry and Lockheed Martin\'s role in that industry.
California has become one of the most powerful economic powers in the world on its own. In the 1990s, it aggressively diversified its economy away from aerospace and defense into emerging industries like IT. It now has a $1.2 trillion economy supported by industries like high-tech, manufacturing, and business services. The state provides funding to help companies develop new technologies. Its workforce of over 17 million is benefiting from the strong economy. The city of Palmdale also successfully diversified its defense-dependent economy and could gain thousands of jobs if Lockheed Martin or Boeing, located there, wins a $750 billion contract to build the next military fighter jet.
Baja California has a strategic location on the west coast of Mexico bordering the US. It has 6 border crossings and two international airports connecting it to major cities in Mexico and Asia. The region has a large, young population and is a leader in aerospace, medical devices, renewable energy, automotive, biotech, and electronics industries due to its infrastructure and workforce. The state government offers tax incentives for new investment projects.
Next Steps to an Industry Code for Composting_2012_Part 3 of 3 with Cover vfAndrew Kessler
The document summarizes the steps needed for the composting industry to obtain its own standalone North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code. It outlines how other industries like cotton and milk were able to achieve industry-wide benefits through collective action and marketing campaigns funded by small fees. The document proposes that the compost industry commissions an independent industry report, establishes funding through a small fee per ton of compost, and drafts a proposal to submit to the committee that assigns NAICS codes. This would allow the industry to be formally tracked, provide data to support initiatives, and achieve long-term benefits similar to other industries that obtained their own codes.
