Headlines Skip indefinite articles “a/ an” and definite articles “the.” No be verb. Usually present tense. To+ V, the future tense. Past Participle, the passive voice. Present Participle, the active voice. Prepositional Phrase, the complementary. Phrasal Headline,  usually along with  Subhead . An Atomic Encounter Preference in short verbs and nouns. Abbreviations, like biz, deli, nat’l, com’l, AIDS, NASA, etc.
