To start the ADDIE process, our first step is to identify the GAP.
Where your organization is and where it wants to be. The difference is the GAP
We need a purpose! Our purpose of creating a training solution is to close that gap.
Our analysis phase has already been started for us- Our GAP has been identified (entry-level).
In our first work session, we will examine the information and finalize training solution.
CONTRIBUTION: Identify GAPS not discovered in Analysis. Clear baseline of identified GAPS.
Once we identified the training solution, Let’s move forward about a month into the Design Phase. (close the gap)
Identify Learning Objectives
We know there is a GAP and have knowledge of the learning need, but we need to create a more technical objective listing specific job behaviors for your entry level drillers. What do you want to see them doing that they aren’t currently?
Organize our information!
>>identify business goals
>>specific behaviors that support our goal
>>real-world activities that directly relate to those actions
>>essential information that directly links to the activity
>>job aides?
a.)Cooperative learning b.) Discovery c.) Problem Solving d.) Games e.) Simulation
f.) Discussion g.) Drill and Practice h.) Tutorial i.) Demonstration j.) Presentation h) manipulatives
The last portion is Testing Instruments: how do you want the participants to prove acquiring of knowledge AND that they are able to apply it in a work scenario. performance tasks and written tests are the most common ways to do this. The goal is to evaluate the learner in order to provide constructive feedback and remediation when necessary.
Your CONTRIBUTION – Provide technical expertise & guidance in developing course outcomes. (what behaviors do you want to see that we aren’t seeing now)
The next step in our ADDIE process is the Development phase.
In the last phase we mapped out the goal, the behaviors, activities, and related information.
Now, we CREATE the activities, assessments, and job aides. The team is going to actual develop these activities that the participants will be completing.
Write, review, edit, write, review, edit… I may create some things to present at the next work session for you to review and edit. I will be writing the materials based on our experiences together. Lots of collaboration!
It is key to create content that is Instructionally and Technically Sound.
Completed Instructional Plan is our start to finish including estimated time
CONTRIBUTION: Technical knowledge to assist with the development of course content.
Now, we get to see our design and development put into action. During this phase we will have a small target audiences chosen for the pilot.
We can all be involved to observe the pilot being brought to life. We will gather in-direct feedback through your observations.
Too in depth? Not in depth enough? Confusing? Want to add job aide.
We will make revisions at stage.
CONTRIBUTION: Observe or participate in part or all of training. Respond to technical questions as the technical expert.
Through out the pilot we gathered some observation notes and feedback.
This is where we ask: ARE WE meeting are objective?? This is where we can use that feedback to make revisions to improve future offerings of the training.
End-of-course evaluation. ‘
Summative; OVERALL VALUE – this is where we can “measure” the outcomes of the training.
CONTRIBUTION: Provide and analyze feedback.
RECAP- what have we learned and how it applies to you.
