Jake Saletsky interned at National Grid over the summer, working on various projects in their T&D Work Methods department. He created standardized tool kits for field trucks, narrowed down the large inventory of meters and testers stocked, corrected issues with supplier part numbers, and began developing a new tool database. Through meetings, research, and field trips, Jake gained experience in time management, communication, and taking responsibility for challenging independent work. He felt the internship provided real contributions rather than just administrative tasks.
This self-directed course will guide you through the basics of how a Groundwater Datalogger is used for taking water level measurements. It also discusses some techniques on how to improve the accuracy of your collected data.
Culverts : A Framework for Your Critical Stormwater AssetsCartegraph
A culvert collapsing in a neighboring jurisdiction was the only wake-up call Multnomah County needed. It was time for them to get an accurate inventory and inspection of their 1,800 culverts—and fast. Using the Oregon DOT’s Culvert Inspection and Inventory Handbook as a framework, learn how Multnomah is leveraging GIS and Cartegraph OMS workflows to keep tabs on the life cycle of their assets and ensure they are making proactive, data-driven decisions for their citizens.

The critical equipment used in deepwater drilling operations is subjected to harsh environmental factors such as loop currents, extreme weather, and high seastates. It is important to understand the effects these environmental variables have on subsea wellhead and conductor integrity.
Through the use of drilling riser monitoring systems (DRMS) operational insight into the real-time status of critical equipment such as the Wellhead, Conductor, BOP, and Riser can be instantly evaluated allowing for safe and efficient decision making.
A business case and ROI justification is presented in order to show that a DRMS can reduce Non-Profitable Time (NPT) and Invisible Lost Time (ILT) and is financially justified by saving as few as 1 day of rig time.
An overview of the issues with offshore drilling activities in high current environments. As a solution, structural monitoring systems are suggested as a way of providing actual riser response data to the operator

This presentation is designed as per Unit V - Electronic Product Design (Elective II)-SPPU Syllabus. This Study material is useful for BE E & TC students.
The right pressure transmitter can enhance production. The key to maximizing the return on oil and gas development projects rests with the maintenance and safety of your—sometimes—aging equipment.
This presentation was requested by the Nebraska Meter Conference and covers all the components of field testing and best practices including a site check list, field test kits and hot socket repair kits.

Truck Tool List
Currently, there is no standard list of tools that should be stocked on a
field truck.
Creation of standard “kits” that can be ordered to provide all of the
required tools for a new truck.
The kits will be tailored to the type of truck. (i.e. overhead bucket truck,
digger derrick, underground, substation, etc.)

6. Assignments & Projects: Meters
Meter Issues
There are currently 62 different meters and voltage testers being
carried in storerooms.
Most of these meters and testers have almost identical functions,
therefore the list must be narrowed down and “dead inventory”
identified.

Assignments & Projects
11. Assignments & Projects: Tool Database
Main Project: Tool Database
Problems with existing database:
o Does not include SAP numbers
o Many tools have no manufacturer/description
o Lack of repair information
• Warranties
• Authorized repair companies
• Ability to prepare an unofficial report for the entire repair process.
• Comparisons between repair companies
12. Considered database programs Tool-Watch, FileMaker, and Access,
decided on Access due to price and familiarity with Excel.
Assignments & Projects: Tool Database
14. Lessons Learned
Time management
Meeting due dates, create schedules based on importance of tasks.
Quality over quantity
Always better to be correct and slow, rather than incorrect and fast.
Communication
Allows all workers to be on the same page regarding large group
assignments.
Note taking
Always bring a notepad, you never know when you’ll need it.
15. Comments on Internship Program
No “getting coffee and making copies”
I felt that I actually contributed to the progress of the company, rather than
being little more than a secretary.
Challenges
I had to learn a lot of information and material in a short amount of time on my
own, including auditing basics, SAP, and Access, but I enjoyed the challenge.
Suggested Improvement
‘More Intern trips out into the field
Overall Experience
Overall, I enjoyed my summer here at National Grid, and I plan to work here
next summer as well.
