IMPROVEMENT

What is school improvement ?
School improvement means making schools better places for
learning. This relies on changes both level and within
classrooms, which depend on school being committed to
fulfilling the expectations of the children and their parents. In
other words, school improvement refers to a systematic
approach that improves the quality of schools.
1. START WITH A VISION
What should your vision improvement look like?
This will be different for every school or district, but
you will need to establish a common definition that will
guide your improvements effort. In other words, what
are you looking to achieve and how will you define
success.
2. CONDUCT A NEED ASSESSMENT
To get from a point A to B. you have to know not
only where you’re going, but also where you’re
starting from. That requires an honest assessment of
your current practices and result. Begin with
comprehensive needs assessment that accurately
gauges your strength and weakness, and areas of
improvement.
3. IDENTIFYING GOALS AND OBJCETIVE
Once you have clear sense of where you are now,
you can begin mapping out a strategy for progressing
to where you want to be. Your plan should include
concise measurable, and achievable goals and
objective that will lead you to the path to success.
4. OUTLINE A SPECIFIC ACTIONS STEP
One of the most common goal roadblocks that
repeatedly prevents district from achieving success
is that their plan is noy actionable . A strong vision
and a list of goal is not enough. You also need to
outline what you will do to achieve those goals.
5. INVOLVE ALL STAKE HOLDERS IN THE PROCESS
Research shows that strategies developed
collaboratively become more widely supported and
adopted and one of the most effective leaders know
how to listen to their constituents .
