Noise Control Stratagies in Reinforced Concrete BuildingsIJRES Journal
This study is aimed at bringing out the salient aspects of building noise control. An analysis has been carried out with respect to the noise transmission as well as the characteristics of noise inside buildings. The key issues on building noise control have been included and discussed. A comprehensive study on building noise and on acoustically divisible spaces has been made. It has been observed that a sound insulation of the order of 30 to 35 dB is possible in a given building. Further, the noise propagation parameters in an exhibition hall have been theoretically estimated. The data so obtained has been compared with actual SPL measurements and recorded. Variations in noise levels observed have been explained. Before the partition is made, the SPL drop is faster inside the building but after the partition the drop falls at the rate of 3dB for doubling the distance. The cost of the acoustically divisible partition wall is found to be very high, but the advantage of this partition seems to be creating acoustically divisible spaces where in one can conduct two programs simultaneously, without any disturbance to each other. Prior to the selection and design of control measures, noise sources must be identified and the noise produced must be carefully evaluated.
Introduction to the study of acoustics, basic terminology, sound and distance inverse square law; absorption of sound, sound absorption co-efficient. Reverberation time, Sabines formula, various sound absorbing materials. Behavior of sound in enclosed spaces, Acoustical defects
This is a small presentation on Architectural Acoustics and Reverberation Time that i made for my coursework. it is not that detailed and explanatory (made for only 2 marks), but i thought sharing this might help someone with their study. So forgive me if u get disappointed, and feel free to reach me if u have any questions/complain or suggestion.

Examples of Self-Financing Noise Control projects across a wide range of plant categories and industries that illustrate the cost savings inherent in engineering noise control measures at source compared with conventional palliatives such as acoustic enclosures, silencers, lagging etc. In many cases, noise control modifications are installed as an extension to maintenance and can be justified simply on the grounds of increased performance, efficiency and productivity, with the noise reduction as an additional benefit. Typical noise control savings of 50-80% with no maintenance or access issues, no hygiene implications, the potential to eliminate PPE / audiometry and to remove remove existing acoustic enclosures and to improve productivity

2. NOISE
What is the problem with noise?
Sounds and noise are an important part of
everyday life. In small amounts they are
harmless, but if they are too loud they can cause
problems. Hearing damage caused by noise is
permanent and incurable - it can range from
sounds appearing muffled to total deafness.
Permanent ‘tinnitus’ or ringing in the ears can be
caused as well.
What does the law say?
The Noise at Work Regulations 1989 say what
you and your employer must do. It is important
that you and your employer co-operate - it is
your hearing that will be damaged if the
danger is not controlled.
3. Acoustic Enclosure
The control of noise in industry is becoming very important.
Increased worker compensation claims involving hearing
damage, and the advent of ever-increasing legislative; safety
and economic requirements make a noise reduction program
mandatory for many industries. Additionally, the government
Provincial, or Local ordinances have been enacted to further
protect the communities from unwanted ‘Industrial ’noise as it
migrates offsite. To meet these specific noise reduction
requirements, Ecotone manufactures and supply a complete
line of acoustically designed panels, which can be quickly and
easily assembled to provide complete or as desired, partial
enclosures for any noisy equipment. Ecotone panels are
designed to provide optimum noise control through the time
proven method of sound transmission loss and sound
absorption, using our proprietary internal arrangements and
key specified materials to meet or exceed your requirements.
Our unique panel internal arrangements are specifically
designed for each application and are sized to meet your
requirements.
Additionally, enclosures can be designed with doors, windows,
access panels and removable panels, floors. Doors are
equipped with heavy-duty hardware and with seals to prevent
further noise leakage. Window panels are framed and gasket
sealed as specified. If constant access to the equipment is
needed, removable panels will be incorporated in the enclosure
design. All-important ventilation of the enclosure is also
incorporated into the design based upon your requirements.
Specialty paints, finishes and metal types are also available
upon request.
4. Acoustic Enclosure
Ecotone acoustic enclosures are
designed to control noise generated
from any machine, the noise reduction
should be as per client requirement OR

15. CNC Machine Noise Enclosure
CNC punch presses are capable of producing high levels of noise,
depending on the type of material and operation they are performing.
An older machine, for instance a 30-ton, 40-station mechanical press,
can expose an operator at the control panel to 95 dB(A) during a
typical punching cycle on 3 mm steel. Improvements in design have
made newer machines generally quieter than older ones, although
according to manufacturers’ figures the noisiest operations can still
result in noise levels above 100 dB(A) at the operating position.
Ecotone is able to reduce CNC machine noise by 25-40 dBA using a
noise suppression treatment.
Sources of noise from CNC punch presses:
Punch presses generate noise from a number of sources, including:
• tool impact;
• the driving mechanism;
• hydraulic pumps;
• sheet manipulation;
• the clamping mechanism;
• transfer and collection of punched components; and
• vibrating machine panels.
