This document summarizes a literature review comparing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) to foraminotomy for treating cervical radiculopathy. The review searched Medline, Embase, and Scopus databases, identifying a total of 574 results after deduplication. After reviewing titles and abstracts, 16 studies were included in the review - 7 comparative studies and 9 additional studies identified from references. The review concluded that foraminotomy has comparable results to ACDF in relieving radicular pain, and both procedures have similar rates of needing further surgery at the index level, though ACDF may provide more rapid relief of symptoms during hospitalization.
