How current faculty, staff, and students can get access to subscription materials at the Bechtold Library

1. Library Access: Authentication

2.  In the summer of 2020, the
library began using Open Athens
for authenticating library users.
 Your Open Athens account will
be tied to your CTU e-mail
address. You’ll use it both for
access electronic resources and
for the CTU catalog.
 The IT Department provides
directions for setting up your
account (support@ctu.edu)
Write down the answers to the
security questions you set up so
you can reset your own
password if needed.

3. What Does the Login Process Look Like?
You’ll need to log in each time you try to access a subscription resource from the Library, whether you’re on
or off campus.
Your credentials are remembered while your browser is open, so you only need to log in once a day.
With the exception of some periodicals (like Origins and all periodicals published by Peeters), you can access
electronic resources (e-books), CTU’s subscription databases, and the EBSCO Discovery Service from off
campus.
Current students, faculty, and staff should always select the top option on this screen:

4. What happens when I’m off campus?
On this screen, Enter your CTU e-mail address and the password that you set up
following the directions from the IT department.
E-mail support@ctu.edu if you need those directions (the Library doesn’t manage
this screen and can’t help set with this page).
You can reset the password
yourself using the answers to
the security questions you set
up.

5. E-book Checkouts
 E-book providers (like EBSCO or ProQuest) may require you to set up a free
account with them to check out their books.
 Some e-book checkouts also require you to download a specific e-book reader.
 Follow the directions of the e-book provider for screens like this
