2. 1. When do I receive my DEC
username and password ?
During enrolment you will receive a
Department of Education and Communities
(DEC) username and a temporary password
for your TAFE student account.
3. 2. How do I find my username
& password?
It will be printed on the TAFE NSW tax invoice
you receive when your enrolment has been
finalised. Application students receive their
username and password on their offer letter.
Please note: It is a temporary password and
should be changed within your account in the
DEC Student Portal website.
4. 3. What if I don’t know my username
and password?
You can ask your teacher, Administration
Customer Service staff, or Library staff to
look up your username and email address
and to reset your password if required.
You must provide proof of identification.
5. 4. What if I don't have access to a
computer or the internet?
You can log on to the TAFE Student
Portal by visiting the college library,
where computers with internet
connection are available for you to use.
6. 5. Why do I need a username/password to
access the Internet on campus?
When you access the Internet on campus
from either a campus computer or your
personal wireless laptop, you will be
asked to enter your username and
password.
This is to authenticate that you are a
current TAFE student.
7. 6. How do I access my student email
and Internet account?
Go to the DEC Student Portal website
http://student.det.nsw.edu.au.
At the login page, enter your username and
password.
Once you have accepted the conditions of
use, you will find links to your email
account as well as other student services
8. 7. What student services can I access from the
student portal?
Your DEC TAFE user name and password provides access to:
The Internet on campus from a student computer or your own
wireless laptop
Your TAFE student record via e-Services
Your TAFE email account
Click on the link to TAFE e-Services to view your enrolment details,
change your contact details, view your results, request a transcript,
pay outstanding fees and enrol online.
Set up your study timetable and calendar alerts for important dates
Search the TAFE Library Network Catalogue, eResources (eBooks,
libguides, information databases ) provided by WSI libraries
Access to your eLearning course/resources
