Abstract: In this lab a laser was used to shine through a pair of double slits to put an interference pattern on the wall. By measuring and recording certain aspects of our apparatus we were able to calculate the wavelength of the laser. I. Introduction The double-slit experiment consists of letting light diffract through two slits, which produces fringes or wave-like interference patterns on a screen. These interference patterns will result in projected light and dark regions that correspond to where the light waves have constructively (added) and destructively (subtracted) interfered. VIII. Conclusion For this lab, a laser was used to create a double slit and the wavelength of the light source being used. Data consisted of measuring the maxima bright spots produced. The laser was beamed towards the wall and drawings were made of the positioned bright maxima. Recordings were made of the distance between slits and the distance from the slits to the wall. Then the slits are rotated and procedure is repeated. After lab was completed, graphs were created of the interference pattern and of d*sin(theta). .

I. Introduction and Objective
This lab1 focuses on the nature and behavior of light. The wave properties of light are most easily demonstrated
by interference and diffraction of light as it passes through narrow slits. The wave nature of light results in a
pattern with a series of bright and dark regions related to the wavelength of the light and the number and size of
the slits.
You will examine the interference and diffraction patterns created by performing single and double slit
experiments using two different lasers. By analyzing the double slit interference patterns, you will determine the
wavelength of each source. Then using the known wavelengths of each laser, you will analyze single slit
diffraction patterns and determine the slit width. You will also compare the interference pattern produced in the
two slit experiment to the diffraction pattern produced in the single slit experiment.
II. Theory
Huygen’s principle can be used to explain the patterns formed when light passes through either a double or
single slit. For two-slit interference, each slit acts as a new source of light. Since the slits are illuminated by the
same wave front, these sources are in phase. Where the wave fronts from the two sources overlap, an
interference pattern is formed. If you look closely at a two slit interference pattern, you will notice that the
intensity of the fringes varies.

In 1801, Thomas Young demonstrated the wave
nature of light by observing the pattern formed
when a narrow beam of light was sent through a
pair of narrow slits. In a similar way, if a laser beam
is passed through two vertical narrow slits onto a
distant screen, a horizontal pattern of equally
spaced dots is observed. The bright and dark
regions are due to the constructive and destructive
interference of the light waves from the two slits.
The geometry of the double slit setup is shown in
the Figure 1 where d is the slit separation, L is the

UV-visible spectroscopy is a fast analytical technique that measures the absorbance or transmittance of light. Although the UV wavelength ranges from 100–380 nm and the visible component goes up to 800 nm, most of the spectrophotometers have a working wavelength range between 200–1100 nm.
The practical range for UV-vis spectroscopy varies from 200–800 nm; above 800 nm is infrared, while below 200 nm is known as vacuum UV. The ability of matter to absorb and to emit light is what defines its color and the human eye is capable of differentiating up to 10 million unique colors. Light passes through media (transmission), reflects off both opaque and transparent surfaces, and is refracted by crystals. Covalently unsaturated compounds with electronic transition energy differences equivalent to the energy of the UV-visible light absorb at specific wavelengths. These compounds are known as chromophores and are responsible for their color. Covalently saturated groups that do not absorb UV-visible electromagnetic radiation but affect the absorption of chromophore groups are called auxochromes. When UV-vis radiation hits chromophores, electrons in the ground state jump to an excited state, which we refer to as electron-excitation, while auxochromes are electron-donating and have the capacity to affect the color of choromophores while they do not change color themselves. Water and alcohols are mostly transparent and do not absorb in the UV-vis range and so are excellent mediums for UV-visible spectroscopy. Acetone and dimethylformamide (DMF) are good solvents for compounds insoluble in water and alcohol, but they absorb light below 320 and 275 nm, respectively, so are appropriate only above these cut-off wavelengths.

I. Introduction and Objective
This lab1 focuses on the nature and behavior of light. The wave properties of light are most easily demonstrated
by interference and diffraction of light as it passes through narrow slits. The wave nature of light results in a
pattern with a series of bright and dark regions related to the wavelength of the light and the number and size of
the slits.
You will examine the interference and diffraction patterns created by performing single and double slit
experiments using two different lasers. By analyzing the double slit interference patterns, you will determine the
wavelength of each source. Then using the known wavelengths of each laser, you will analyze single slit
diffraction patterns and determine the slit width. You will also compare the interference pattern produced in the
two slit experiment to the diffraction pattern produced in the single slit experiment.
II. Theory
Huygen’s principle can be used to explain the patterns formed when light passes through either a double or
single slit. For two-slit interference, each slit acts as a new source of light. Since the slits are illuminated by the
same wave front, these sources are in phase. Where the wave fronts from the two sources overlap, an
interference pattern is formed. If you look closely at a two slit interference pattern, you will notice that the
intensity of the fringes varies.

In 1801, Thomas Young demonstrated the wave
nature of light by observing the pattern formed
when a narrow beam of light was sent through a
pair of narrow slits. In a similar way, if a laser beam
is passed through two vertical narrow slits onto a
distant screen, a horizontal pattern of equally
spaced dots is observed. The bright and dark
regions are due to the constructive and destructive
interference of the light waves from the two slits.
The geometry of the double slit setup is shown in
the Figure 1 where d is the slit separation, L is the
distance from the slits to the screen, and y is the
distance measured from the center of the pattern.
When the distance which the light beams travel from the two slits to the screen differs by one-half wavelength,

Multiple constituent frequencies were detected from hand claps, mimicking bursts from supernovae. The amount of diffraction depends on the size of the opening relative to the wavelength - openings around the same size as the wavelength cause strong diffraction. UV-visible spectroscopy is a fast analytical technique that measures the absorbance or transmittance of light. Although the UV wavelength ranges from 100–380 nm and the visible component goes up to 800 nm, most of the spectrophotometers have a working wavelength range between 200–1100 nm.
The practical range for UV-vis spectroscopy varies from 200–800 nm; above 800 nm is infrared, while below 200 nm is known as vacuum UV. The ability of matter to absorb and to emit light is what defines its color and the human eye is capable of differentiating up to 10 million unique colors. Light passes through media (transmission), reflects off both opaque and transparent surfaces, and is refracted by crystals. Covalently unsaturated compounds with electronic transition energy differences equivalent to the energy of the UV-visible light absorb at specific wavelengths. These compounds are known as chromophores and are responsible for their color. Covalently saturated groups that do not absorb UV-visible electromagnetic radiation but affect the absorption of chromophore groups are called auxochromes. When UV-vis radiation hits chromophores, electrons in the ground state jump to an excited state, which we refer to as electron-excitation, while auxochromes are electron-donating and have the capacity to affect the color of choromophores while they do not change color themselves. Water and alcohols are mostly transparent and do not absorb in the UV-vis range and so are excellent mediums for UV-visible spectroscopy. Acetone and dimethylformamide (DMF) are good solvents for compounds insoluble in water and alcohol, but they absorb light below 320 and 275 nm, respectively, so are appropriate only above these cut-off wavelengths.

It is essential that nurses understand the issues related to healthcare financing, including local, state, and national healthcare policies and initiatives that affect healthcare delivery. As a patient advocate, the professional nurse is in a position to work with patients and families to access available resources to meet their healthcare needs.

Introduction
We think of our societies as ‘knowledge societies’ in which lifelong learning is
becoming increasingly important. Lifelong learning refers to the idea that people
not only learn in schools and universities, but also in non-formal and informal
ways during their lifespan.The concepts of lifelong learning and lifelong education
began to enter the discourse on educational policies in the late 1960s (Tuijnman
& Boström, 2002). However, these are related, but distinct concepts. As Lee (2014,
p. 472) notes ‘the terminological change (from lifelong education, continuing
education and adult education, to lifelong learning) reflects a conceptual departure
from the idea of organised educational provision to that of a more individualised
pursuit of learning’.
One of the first important documents on lifelong learning was the report of the
International Commission on the Development of Education to UNESCO in
1972, titled ‘Learning to be. The world of education today and tomorrow’. In his
introductory letter to the Director-General of UNESCO, the chairman of the
Commission, Edgar Faure, stated that the work of the Commission was based on
four assumptions (see Elfert pp. and Carneiro pp. in this issue). The first was
related to the idea that there was an international community which was united by
common aspirations and the second was the belief in democracy and in education
as its keystones. The third was ‘that the aim of development is the complete
fulfilment of man, in all the richness of his personality, the complexity of his forms
of expression and his various commitments — as individual, member of a family
and of a community, citizen and producer, inventor of techniques and creative
dreamer’. The last assumption was that ‘only an over-all, lifelong education can
produce the kind of complete man, the need for whom is increasing with the
continually more stringent constraints tearing the individual asunder’ (Faure,
1972, p. vi).
Following the Faure Report, the UNESCO Institute for Education, which
was founded in Germany in 1951, started to focus on lifelong learning and
subsequently became the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL, http://
uil.unesco.org/home/). It was under its leadership that a formal model of lifelong
education was developed and published in the book ‘Towards a System of Life-
long Education’ (Cropley, 1980). The concept of lifelong learning also became
manifest in the ‘Education for All’ (EFA) agenda that was launched at the World
Conference on Education for All which took place in Jomtien (Thailand) in
1990 (Inter-Agency Commission, 1990). Ten years later, at the World Education
Forum in Dakar (Senegal) in 2000, the Dakar Framework for Action was
designed ‘to enable all individuals to realize their right to learn and to fulfil their
responsibility to contribute to the development of their society’ (UNESCO,

Base Salary Range
For the position of VP of Operations, the National Average Salary is $122,624. In San Francisco, the average is higher and placed at $155,946. This amount is 16% higher than the National Average (Payscale, 2016). The reason for this increase is because of experience and geography. These are the two prime factors that impact the pay scale. Another major factor is the employer. Most employers base their decision to hire an individual on the experience they bring with them. Of course, with more experience, higher pay is required. With our company cutting cost a less experienced individual would be the best fit for the position.
Standard Employee Benefit
In many cases, your employee benefits could be the turning point for a prospective employee. This benefit is a vital portion of any employee packet. These valuable benefits are used as a blanket of security in the case of any sickness, injury, unemployment, old age, or death (Gomez-Mejia, Balkin & Cardy, 2015, p. 362). There is a significant difference between incentives and benefits: benefits are financial and nonfinancial compensations that are indirect to the employee. To have a competitive strategy Blossoms Up! must align their profits with the compensation package that has been already put in place. This action will help provide flexibility to the amount and the benefits available (Gomez-Mejia et al., 2015).
There are also some benefits that most companies are legally obligated to provide. Three benefits are required regardless of the number of employees that the company has. These interests involve social security, workers compensation, and unemployment insurance (Gomez-Mejia et al., 2015). Other laws must be adhered to when dealing with a certain number of individuals. When a company has 50 or more employee they must have the Family and Medical Leave Act in place and since its induction in 2015 the Affordable Care Act for Health Insurance for companies with 20 or more employees. For the health insurance to be considered standard medical, vision and dental plans must be made available to the business. These programs that must be regarded as being under the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) or a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) (Gomez-Mejia et al., 2015).
There are some voluntary benefits that we can include. We are already looking into adding a pension package using the Defined Contribution Plan as well as the 401(K) plan (Gomez-Mejia et al., 2015). Life insurance is another excellent benefit that could be added to the package as well as short-term and long-term disability insurance. Adding Vacation and PTO, and Holiday pay is .

Introduction The double-slit experiment consists of letting light diffract through two slits, which produces fringes or wave-like interference patterns on a screen. These interference patterns will result in projected light and dark regions that correspond to where the light waves have constructively (added) and destructively (subtracted) interfered. VIII. Conclusion For this lab, a laser was used to create a double slit and the wavelength of the light source being used. Data consisted of measuring the maxima bright spots produced. The laser was beamed towards the wall and drawings were made of the positioned bright maxima. Recordings were made of the distance between slits and the distance from the slits to the wall. Then the slits are rotated and procedure is repeated. After lab was completed, graphs were created of the interference pattern and of d*sin(theta).
