• ABSOLEM founded in 2010 (MBO of De Valck Engineering, founded 1986)
• Based in Mechelen, Belgium (head office)
• Lab & Facilities in Turnhout, Belgium (acquired from Philips in 2016)
• Absolem Inc. USA office founded 2017 (South Carolina based)
• Activities: project sourcing, consultancy and in-house projects for mechanical
design, process development, production equipment, lasertechnology
• Over 60 engineers with on average 20 years experience
• Annual Turnover 2016: 4 mio EUR
• Industry independent: automotive OEM & Tier1, additive manufacturing,
industrial equipment, bio tech, food, etc

in production to do material processing for different
materials and applications.

• The possibilities of lasers in material processing are tremendous but it is very
difficult for an unexperienced of occasional user to understand all the variables
and the different types of lasers.
• Defining the correct process window in a lab environment is a necessary step to
build the best suited, most cost effective tooling or mechanization.
• The learnings / failures during the lab phase are very important to the process
owner.This enables quick problem solving on the production floor.
• Be creative to balance the investments in equipment with the growth path of the
product

  • 22. • The possibilities of lasers in material processing are tremendous but it is very difficult for an unexperienced of occasional user to understand all the variables and the different types of lasers. • Defining the correct process window in a lab environment is a necessary step to build the best suited, most cost effective tooling or mechanization. • The learnings / failures during the lab phase are very important to the process owner.This enables quick problem solving on the production floor. • Be creative to balance the investments in equipment with the growth path of the product CONCLUSIONS
