3. Hydraulic Press Introduction
The hydraulic jack/Press is a device used for lifting heavy loads by the application of much smaller force. • It
is based on Pascal’s law, which states that intensity of pressure is transmitted equally in all directions through
a mass of fluid at rest.

 It was actually invented by Joseph Bramah, so is also known as the Bramah Press.

5. Working Principle
The concept of the hydraulic press is based on Pascal's theory, which states that when
pressure is applied on fluids in an enclosed system, the pressure throughout the system
always remains constant. In simple words, a hydraulic press is a machine that makes use of
the pressure exerted on the fluids to crush something.

Hydraulic presses are commonly used for forging, clinching, moulding, blanking,
punching, deep drawing, and metal forming operations.
The hydraulic press is advantageous in manufacturing, it gives the ability to create more
intricate shapes and can be economical with materials.

8. Hydraulic press construction
 For a hydraulic press, it consists of two cylinders called a ram(larger cylinder)
and a plunger(smaller cylinder). For hydraulic press working, a small force is
applied to the plunger, and with force multiplication, the magnitude of this
applied force will be increased and delivered at the ram
