Adaptive technology, also known as assistive technology, refers to products that are designed to promote greater independence for individuals with disabilities by providing alternative methods to perform tasks that may be difficult due to impairments. This document discusses the Sock Aid, an adaptive device that helps those with limited mobility get dressed by putting on socks and discusses how adaptive technology can benefit those who are blind, deaf, have speech or mobility impairments, or other disabilities by allowing them to overcome obstacles and limitations. It concludes with a quote about using adaptive devices to prove that disabilities have not won.
