The Alumni Association of IIT Kanpur was established in 1967 to foster interaction among alumni and with the institute. It has over 25,000 registered alumni members and organizes various events including reunions, lectures, and conventions. The Association aims to support alumni professionally and contribute to the institute's vision of research and innovation excellence.

Membership The Association has the following categories of members: (1) Regular members and (2) Honorary members (1) Regular members are those (i) Who have received degree(s)/diploma(s) awarded by the Institute, herein referred to as the alumni, and (ii) Have registered with Alumni Association by paying the applicable life membership fees. Faculty members who have served the Institute. (2) Honorary members Honorary membership shall be conferred on (i) All the past directors of the Institute and (ii) Eminent personalities honored by the Institute or the persons of eminence who have not received any degree from the Institute but have contributed immensely or have shown a keen interest for the development of the Institute. Reunions II Batch Reunion The Class –of-66 is planning to have their II Batch reunion scheduled for November 26 to 28, 2011 With around 45 of them attending with their families Silver Jubilee Reunion The Class–of–87 25 years of their graduation is scheduled for December 24 to 26, 2011 with around 125 alumni attending the event with their families. 15. Distinguished Alumnus Awards is the highest award given by IIT Kanpur to to its alumni for their outstanding achievements in their field of pursuit. The process for collecting nomination this year is on. 16. Satyendra K. Dubey Memorial Award The award was instituted in the year 2005. The award will be given to one who as distinguished himself / herself by displaying highest professional integrity for upholding human values Alumni Association IIT Kanpur
