Cement is manufactured by heating limestone and clay in a kiln. Joseph Aspdin first made cement in England in 1824. It is a binding agent that is produced by grinding limestone, clay, coal and fly ash into a fine powder that sets and hardens. India is the second largest cement producer after China, with a production capacity of 151.2 million tonnes per year that is expected to reach 550-600 million tonnes by 2025. The cement industry plays a major role in India's infrastructure growth and development.
