A new profession of decision coaching is emerging that brings process, analytical tools, and facilitation skills to strategic decision making. Decision coaches help organizations overcome cognitive biases and make better decisions by facilitating collaborative processes, applying decision analysis and systems modeling, and managing organizational knowledge and learning. The document outlines the core skills of a decision coach, including decision framing, applied probability, facilitation, and project management, and argues that developing these skills in engineers could lead to major improvements in public and private decision making.
Cognitive psychology and design, they are two closely related fields. Cognitive bias should be a powerful tool in the designer’s belt. Because we can take advantage of it.

In the age of speed, making decisions quickly is critical to project success. This presentation considers the decision making process, decision making styles, and how to focus and tailor discussions to arrive at meaningful decisions quickly.
Business opportunities of moderate to even light complexity often expose decision makers to hundreds, if not tens of thousands, of coordinated decision options that should be considered thoughtfully before making resource commitments. That complexity is just overwhelming! Unfortunately, the typical response is either analysis paralysis or "shooting from the hip," both of which expose decision makers to unnecessary loss of value and risk. This tutorial teaches decision makers how to tame option complexity to develop creative, valuable decision strategies that range from "mild to wild" with three simple thinking tools.
Did you know that the organization giving away money, has as much difficulty giving away its money, as do those applying to get this money? Find out the hidden millions awaiting your effective proposal. This can be a full day, a half day or a lunch and learn workshop for you or your group.
Successful grant and funding proposals are key to the ongoing success and development of your agency. But creating a well-developed and comprehensive proposal can be difficult for even an experienced writer. To secure funding, you need to know the ins and outs of proposal writing. You need to understand how expectations differ from agency to agency and funder to funder.
Chris Hylton's Grant and Proposal Writing seminar has already helped agencies across the country train and develop the skills they need to access the funding dollars they need for community projects and initiatives. You will learn the proposal-writing process in its entirety, and be able to develop a draft proposal or work on an existing grant proposal with Chris.
The seminar provides you with a comprehensive overview of effective grant proposal techniques, finding best-fit funding sources, and planning for funding sustainability. As participants in the previous seminars can attest, this training session walks you through the key points in developing an effective funding proposal. You have the critical one-on-one support you need to get your questions answered and to develop the skills you need to succeed.

We make decisions every day driven by cognitive biases designed to save time and energy. These mental shortcuts serve us well. Marketers have used this knowledge to build successful marketing strategies for many years. This knowledge can also be used to build engaging products. Behavioral design provides a model for thinking about forming habits and motivating users. Identifying these user stories are critical to build lasting products. They link core user needs with business outcomes. These ideas drive products such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. In this talk, we’ll explore using behavioral design to build an engagement loop and better backlog. Iʼll share how to integrate these ideas into an Agile development process.
Biases are nonconscious drivers — cognitive quirks — that influence how people see the world. They appear to be universal in most of humanity, perhaps hardwired into the brain as part of our genetic or cultural heritage, and they exert their influence outside conscious awareness.
On the whole, biases are helpful and adaptive. They enable people to make quick, efficient judgments and decisions with minimal cognitive effort. But they can also blind a person to new information, or inhibit someone from considering valuable options when making an important decision.
All of these biases, and others, lead many great companies and institutions to make disastrous and dysfunctional decisions.

Predictive Analytics at the Speed of Business -
How decision management and a real-time infrastructure get predictive analytics where and when you need them.
Organizations are looking to maximize the value of their analytics investment. They need to accelerate the deployment process, reduce costs and get the analytic insight where they need it, when they need it. Increasingly organizations must deploy and manage many models, use those models in real-time and integrate predictive analytics into a wide range of operational systems – in the cloud, on-premise, for Hadoop and in-database. In this webinar you will learn how Decision Management and ADAPA – a proven approach and real-time infrastructure – transform passive models into operational success. This webinar is jointly presented by James Taylor, CEO of Decision Management Solutions and Dr. Alex Guazzelli, Vice President of Analytics at Zementis.
Past, Present, & Future of Business Analysis by Kevin BrennanExcella
Kevin Brennan, EVP, Product Management & Development, IIBA International
Business analysis is growing beyond its roots in software requirements engineering and process performance measurement to become a true stand alone profession focused on organizational change. To be successful, business analysts will find themselves focusing less on technology and detailed specifications and more on business value, strategy, and delivering results. The demand for business analysts with these skills is only going to increase in the years to come.
Business analysts must learn to look beyond project scope to understand why the business needs to change, and to help the business realize the benefits of change. If companies are going to survive and thrive in an increasingly competitive and globalized world, they will need business analysts to move beyond facilitation and requirements management and embrace architecture and design. The future for the business analysis profession is very, very bright - as long as we are willing to grasp it.
Richard Moulds discussed business IT strategies. How to lead multi functional teams and sevarl case studies within the public and particular healthcare sector were used.
Predictive analytic models are not new within many analytical organizations. However, the use of predictive analytics is growing rapidly. Data-driven decision-making initiatives are compelling more and more enterprises to move their analytics efforts beyond the basics. Enterprises must go from measurement and reporting to predictions and decision management. With ever-increasing amounts of historical data ready for mining, the right predictive analytic models can help an enterprise understand future behavior – adherence to medical prescriptions, increased or decreased spending, loan repayment, and more. By driving better decision-making, such insights can be transformative. Join us as we look into best-practices for building a predictive enterprise, technology tips for using and implementing predictive analytics tools, and guidelines for building predictive models.
Rational processes and agility–can there be a bigger contradiction in terms? This presentation discusses the rational approach and proves that the separation of the ideas of agility and controlled processes base on a old-age misconception of the decision making mechanism in human brains. Agility and rational processes are similar schemes and Roman Mildner argues that we should stop arguing over it and move on to structuring development processes in a more constructive and effective way. By using the analogy of genetics and their role in organism development, Roman Mildner shows that every organization can create an environment in which projects can significantly increase their success ratio.
Managing an advisory firm's compliance program can be costly. Can this expense also be viewed as an investment? Learn how your compliance efforts can help you manage your firm more effectively.
