Individual government departments have over 100 maps relating to policies and programmes scattered across 95 different places. The Royal Town Planning Institute is suggesting bringing these maps together in an interactive website to help the public understand how policies affect their areas, help policymakers understand cumulative impacts, and help businesses understand how policies may affect them. A pilot website was launched in October 2012 with layers for key policies and programmes, and the consultation process is ongoing to gather feedback and add additional datasets.
