Open data hackathon jelgava - report

Cypriot researchers have had some success in the European Union's Horizon 2020 research program in the area of SPACE. In 2014 and 2015, Cypriot researchers submitted 22 proposals related to the GALILEO, EO, and COMPET calls. 5 of these proposals were successful, with Cypriot organizations receiving over 1.1 million Euros in funding. The number of proposals and funded projects increased from 2014 to 2015. While Cyprus submitted fewer proposals in 2015, there were more Cypriot applicants involved in collaborative proposals. iGEO geoportal is a GeoServer-based set of web services allowing Bosnia-Herzegovinian local municipalities, government agencies and utility infrastructure organizations access to the most precise base map data.
Particular attention is paid to the role of the iGEO portal in this process. The geoportal is modeled after the European Union's Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe (INSPIRE) directive to share geographic information across Europe.

EUscreen is a network of over 30 European audiovisual archives that provides access to television content and promotes the sharing of European broadcast heritage. It began in 2002 and has received over €15 million in funding over several projects to digitize and provide metadata for television content. Challenges include copyright issues and differing national laws, but the network provides standardized access and works to address these barriers. It aims to give educational and academic access to material that reflects Europe's shared cultural and historical experiences and the development of broadcasting. In the future, EUscreen hopes to add features like improved citation of materials, subtitles, universal playback capabilities, and links to other digital libraries and services.
Development of Spatial Data Infrastructure Based on INSPIRE Directive – Case ...
iGEO geoportal is a GeoServer-based set of web services allowing Bosnia-Herzegovinian local municipalities, government agencies and utility infrastructure organizations access to the most precise base map data.
Particular attention is paid to the role of the iGEO portal in this process. The geoportal is modeled after the European Union's Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe (INSPIRE) directive to share geographic information across Europe.
INSPIRE addresses 34 key spatial data themes organized in three groups (or Annexes to the Directive), reflecting the different levels of harmonization expected and staged phasing. Annexes I and II focus on reference data, while Annex III focuses on data for environmental analysis and impact assessment.

A group of 15 developers and experts held a Code Camp in 2012 at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen to develop a web platform called plan4business. They combined user requirements with engines for integration, storage, and analysis of pan-European spatial datasets. This will soon be demonstrated in a pilot application enabling spatial analysis. Plan4business is an EU-funded project running from 2012 to 2014 that aims to offer harmonized planning data and analyses for users in an INSPIRE-compliant and open standard platform.
