Rohan Gunatillake gave a talk at the William Gibson AMA Conference in 2009 about how digital media can be used to develop artistic content and engage the public. He discussed how the web has evolved from a broadcast medium to one that enables connection, collaboration, and conversation. He recommended that arts organizations open up their processes and focus on managing communities rather than audiences. He also suggested some books on these topics, including Tribes by Seth Godin and Convergence Culture by Henry Jenkins.
