This document summarizes a workshop that explored who should be the main targets for learning content arising from an R&D fund aimed at achieving step changes in how the arts engage with and experiment with new technologies. The workshop used personas to represent different audiences and had participants help complete and rank the personas based on their influence over coming barriers to change. 10 personas were described representing people like a private foundation director, marketing officer, creative digital agency director, and others involved in the arts.

Start with a concept (and stop designing like a robot)Florian Cordier
In a digital industry driven by data, research, sprints and frameworks, I still believe that finding a concept remains a powerful and refreshing way for designers to create impactful, strong and memorable experiences.
Being a Digital Do-Gooder (IxDA Berlin Event #53)Clive K. Lavery
As digital designers we are constantly being told that we have the power to change the world.
But other than repeating this over and over again in our comfortable bubble of tech meetups, conferences or self centred documentaries how many of us actually use our perceived super powers for something more than making rich companies richer, selling more shoes online or creating something like "Uber for coat hangers"?
In my talk at the IxDA Berlin Event in September 2016 I will look at examples of applied digital do-goodism and discuss some strategies for how we can use our UX and design skills for social good.
Slides may contain traces of half baked philosophy, social romanticism, self guilt and hopefully inspiration.

I developed this for the ACCE conference in OK City as a follow up to my presentation "Selling the Intangible". Whether you work for a Chamber of Commerce or not, this applies to anyone who sells a product or service. And let's be honest: we are all in sales.
each year for 9 years I have give a 3 to 4 hour presentation for Dr. Kristina Jaskyte's creativity class for students of social work for non-profit organization majors
We introduce Learning Presentation design principles that incorporate theories of Adult Learning. These presentation principles and approaches can be adapted by researchers, teachers, and students for use in classrooms, conferences, and communities, whether F2F, hybrid, or online environments. We collaborate with participants by sharing knowledge and experience to create personalized strategies for maximizing learning while using presentation platforms. For this showcase we draw on our work with future faculty and current staff to demonstrate Learning Presentations as scaffolds for showcasing ideas, guiding learning, and engaging learners.

From idea to execution.
The digital industry is moving fast. Creative people need to be more productive as competition is growing up everyday. While many tasks can be more and more automated, conceptualization remains a powerful, efficient and truly human tool to create strong, memorable and engaging experiences.

Portfolios are the calling card to employment, we worry that lack of time to explore, digest, incubate, and think is detrimental to future and current designers.

If an objective of the overall R&D Fund is to achieve a step
change in how the arts engage with and experiment with
new technologies, this workshop was an exploration of who
the main targets should be for the learning content arising
from the fund.
The workshop used personas to explore the different
audiences which participants helped complete and also rank
as to who were the most influential when it came to
overcoming current barriers to change.
This document is a work in progress.
