Silence Of The Lambs Analysis
The Silence of the lambs (1991) is in doubt a film which demonstrates a well constructed horror
film. The film, ranging with scenes, shots, and frames that were well constructed to be identified as
horrific. The films cinematography shifts the films narrative and impacts the film, especially the
film s frames. It seems reasonable to suppose that from the films frames and of those of the
characters expressions, they shape the film s genre to be horrifying, psychological, and thrilling
and they guide viewers towards where the film s narrativewill lead to. Therefore, even a single or
series of frames in the film such as Hannibal Lecters evil smile, Buffalo Bill opening the door,
Hannibal Lecter standing in his cell, and the dialogue between Agent Starling and Hannibal Lecter,
act collectively to represent and symbolize claims about the film.
In the first frame of Hannibal Lecter, it is a close up shot of his disturbing smile. This frame
represents him and gives several interpretive claims about him and it denotes certain messages
and claims of him. Many of the shots of Hannibal Lecter are mostly shots of his face and his
facial expressions. Since, his facial expressions are so intimidating, they are very crucial to be
implemented throughout the film, Hannibal Lecter is a character that if one glances at him, one
will cringe and feel very uncomfortable. From this frame alone, one will immediately have a
general idea of the persona of Hannibal Lecter. He is one who plays with

My Aspiration For The Health Field
My aspiration to work in the health field comes from many different experiences in my life. As an
only child and being a descendant to Haitian parents who came to this country to make a better
living for themselves, I understand I am the first to further my education. Knowing I have
opportunities that my parents did not have, I am dedicated and will do all that it takes to follow my
dreams to become a great PA. After graduating from Florida Atlantic University, volunteering and
becoming a certified nursing assistantgrew my enthusiasm; I know it s the right profession for me. I
would love to be part of a team working with other health professionals, providing patients with
health information and counseling in an environment that appreciates diversity and supports
minorities.
My desire to work in the health field began when I was diagnosed with Bell s palsy as a teenager.
I know it is not a life threatening condition. However, when I was diagnosed I did not know what
was happening. My doctor could not give me a definite answer as to why half of my face was
suddenly paralyzed. That time period was the most stressful and disheartening time of my life. I
felt even embarrassed to laugh or smile in front of my friends. I remember one day when I went
for check ups on my condition, I felt normal again as one of the PAs described how she went
through the same experience with Bell s palsy as a young adult in Jamaica.
The same experience I had with that PA is the same experience I

Leadership Of The Harvard Business School Essay
Leadership:
John P. Kotter (Kotter,1988) of the Harvard Business School defines leadership as The process of
moving a group (or groups) in some direction through mostly noncoercive means. Effective
leadership is defined as leadership that produces movement in the long term best interests of the
group(s).
Four unexpected qualities of Inspirational leaders (Harvard Business Review, 2000)
They selectively reveal their weaknesses.
They rely entirely on their intuition to put forward their thoughts to action
They manage their followers with emotions
They outstand the crowd.
Proper training and a nurturing environment with an atmosphere of people being rewarded for
what they deliver. An environment where a leader can put his innovative and creative ideas with
calculated risk taking and allows some space for occasional failure (Capowski G., 1994).
Management
According to Van Vactor (2012), Management emphasizes systems controls, procedures and
policies employed in a process (p.556)
Careful planning is the first step in successful management. Planning helps the organization to
prepare themselves for external pressures like monetary issues, personnel deficit and technical
advancements (Barr,2008). Along with planning, Managers should also be able to efficiently
organize, guide and control their staff. They should be able to handle huge amounts of data for
future evaluation and manipulation to help the organization achieve their goals.

How Did The League Of Nations A Success
The League of Nations was supposed to be an international organization that would help solve
disputes between the different countries to avoid future wars and bring lasting peace. It was
endorsed on January 10th, 1920 with its headquarters located in Geneva, Switzerland. The League
was created and introduced by President Woodrow Wilson of the United States of America along
with his Fourteen Points, a plan listing terms which he believed must be comprised in the Peace
Treaty of Versailleswhich would bring an end to World War I
. Many nations were members of the
League, and it did help resolve certain issues, but unfortunately, there were quite as many failures
as there were triumphs. Eventually though, the League failed and led to World War II, only to be
replaced by the United Nations in 1946. The League of Nations, meant to be a strong power and
keep peace with all nations who were members, was only a weak and virtually power less
organization. President Woodrow Wilson created the League of Nations and used his immense
influence to attempt to achieve its success. He believed that it would guarantee lasting world peace
and resolve any disputes between nations. President Clemenceau of France and Prime Minister
Loyd George of Great Britain, while highly doubting that the League would succeed, supported it in
order that Wilson would support their plan of revenge on Germany. He was able, with the support
from Clemenceau and George, to attach the Covenant of the League to the

Research Paper: Henry Ford
Imagine how life would be if our society did not have cars. Today, our society is dependent on
cars for our daily routines. From transporting our food, clothes, and technology to just going to the
store across the street, cars are a very important part of our society. In the 19th century, only the
wealthy and upper middle class had access to automobiles, and they only used cars for fancy
transportation and to show off their money. This was due to the extreme prices of cars in the 19th
century. With these high prices not many people could afford them, especially not the working
class. Henry Ford revolutionized the automotive industry in the ... Show more content on

He had his workers work less, with more breaks, and he also payed them almost twice as much as
other jobs. As Eric Foner states, Ford paid the assembly line workers $5 a day when prevailing
wages were about $2.50...he also reduced working hours to 8. With this, workers were more
likely to work harder and better, which led to more productivity. The productivity was not done
alone, the infrastructure of the assembly line is very critical to the production process. This was
done by, as Robert Sobel states, ...conveyor belts in the assembly line that brought parts to the
workers to perform their specific task. All this improved the production rate and it satisfied the
workers. Many may say the assembly line removed individuality, however it brought faster, better,
and cheaper production to the Ford Motor Company.
With the success of the assembly line, Ford was very please however he had a bigger goal set.
Ford wanted to produce cheap cars for the common people to use. Ford made many different
types of cars and experimented with each of them. They were all good but not good enough.
After many different models, Ford achieved his goal with his invention of the Ford Model T. The
Model T was a fully functional compact automobile with a good transmission and torque as well
as comfort and size. Apart from that, the most important aspect of the Model T was that is was
extremely cheap. As Sobel states, ...the model T was only worth $290 in 1924. This was a huge

Large Aircraft Essays
The A 380 is becoming more popular as airlines look for ways to move the maximum amount of
passengers for the least money (Stafford, 2006). The A380 is made in passenger or freight
versions. The A380 800 is the largest passenger plane in the world. When passenger areas are
divided into three classes, the A380 can seat 550 passengers. When the entire plane is designated
economy class, it can seat 853 people. There is 50% more cabin floor space than the Boeing 747
because the A380s upper deck goes the entire length of the fuselage ( Airbus a380airfield, 2011). In
2010 there were already over 30 in use and more are expected in the near future (Young Wells,

According to FAA Order 5300, airports may submit Modifications of Standard (MOS) requests
for review of non standard compliance items as long as safety is not compromised . Making
modification would be much less expensive and less time consuming for the airports that are able
to do them. Some design standards to allow for safe use of the A380 include blast pad dimensions
to be 250 x 400 feet ( Airbus a380 airfield, 2011).
Many smaller airports will not be able to fit the larger airbus and the A380 will be limited to
only the large, hub airports better able to accommodate them. Smaller airports may have to be
used as feeder airports that will connect passengers to the large airports and the A380s. This could
be a problem of increased congestion with the existing slot system if more connecting flights are
needed and there are no more gates available or slot time (Ruehle, Goetsch, Koch, 2006).
At this time intercontinental routes use the hub and spoke system. This method allows airlines to
bundle an increased number of passengers on the flights. The draw back is that it also leads to a
more complex feeder flight schedule. Those airports with the facilities and room to support the
airbuses would then become hubs for those aircraft flights. To be profitable and fill enough seats,
airports with the most potential passengers would need to be paired for flights. Any delay or
cancellation would have a domino effect, costing more

Factors That Increase Out Rates And The Importance And...
Literature Review One of the many problems our youth is affected by is the decision not to, or
inability to graduate high school. This paper will emphasize the issues that can influence drop out
rates and the importance and need of an appropriate intervention. Drop out rates, whether difficult to
measure accurately, continue to steadily increase, especially for minorities (low SES students,
African Americans, and Hispanics). Dropping out of high schoolis a very significant issue, not just
for the individual itself, but also for society (Rumberger, 1983). Research shows that students who
drop out are more likely to be unemployed, or have low skilled/low paying jobs (Christle, Jolivette,
Nelson, 2007). The problems do not stop there;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychological factors also play an important role in Rumberger s study; findings have shown that
high levels of confidence, sociability and educational aspirations can distinguish graduate students
from dropouts. Among other important factors linked to possible dropouts are family backgrounds,
and school settings. Families have a great impact when it comes to school interest and the
motivation to stay in school. One study by Hill and Stafford (1977) shows that better educated
parents have shown to influence their children s educational aspirations and drive to stay in school
(Rumberger, 1983). In addition, a strong parent children communication about their parental
expectations for their children s education has shown a relationship to school achievement (Strom
Boster, 2007). And important finding shows that even if children are doing poorly in school, those
whose parents were involved in their children s education and decisions, were less likely that those
with low parental involvement, to drop out of school (Rumberger, Ghatak, Poulos, Ritter,
Dornbush, 1990). Schools play a very important role as well; students can lose motivation and
become less engaged in school if they cannot find a connection with their school. Studies show that
the majority of high school dropouts are associated with disengagement from school (Christle et al.,
2007). Teachers have the ability to influence their students motivation to stay in school as well.

The Importance Of Voting Rights In America
One of the most essential civil liberties afforded to an American citizen is the right to vote. The
United States Constitution did not initially define who was eligible to vote, allowing each state to
determine who was eligible based on their own standards. As our country developed, we began to
see a growing number of activist movements in different communities such as that of African
Americans and women. The culmination of Jim Crow laws, state and local laws that enforced
racial segregation in the Southern United Stateslead to civil rights movements for African
Americans. Women suffrage movements were broad and included both men and women, who
dared to challenge the notion that a woman s place was domestic in nature and should not include
civil liberties such as voting.
As a result of state and local discriminatory practices, the federal role in elections has gradually
increased. Amendments to the Constitution and enacted legislation, such as the Voting Rights Act
of 1965, have helped to increase the number of eligible voters. Furthermore, the United States
Constitution set forth voting rights that cannot be abridged on account of race, color, previous
condition of servitude, sex, or age for those above 18. However, the guidelines outlined in the
constitution do not account for

from the Similar Minds Inventory, my personality type is ISFJ (A Conservator). The Acronym for
ISFJ is Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging. ISFJs are characterized as the desire to serve

analysis of Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging. The First criterion is Introverted . We are
introverted when we avoid large crowds of individuals, think about our needs and wants, and rather

refers to the attribute that allows us to detect a certain feeling of prediction or behavior based on

Pestle Analysis
Compiling and Using a PESTLE Analysis
1.1 A PESTLE analysis is a tool that acts as a prompt to the staff and governors involved in the
analysis of the developments in the school s environment that could affect its risk profile. It may
help them carry out a more comprehensive analysis. The initials stand for: Political e.g. a new
government initiative creates the risk that the school may fail to deliver the policy or be diverted
away from local priorities etc. Economic e.g. central or local government funding decisions may
affect school finances, closure of a local industry may affect fund raising plans etc. Social e.g.

pupils with English as a second language etc. Technological e.g. new computer viruses may affect
school operations, disturbing images on the internet may affect ICT security measures etc.
Legislative e.g. new legislation may create risks of non compliance with the law, create new
administrative burdens etc. Environmental e.g. a new road layout near the school may create new
dangers for pupils etc.
1.2 The key to using PESTLE successfully is to prepare thoroughly before the meeting and: ask
people to think about the external factors that may affect the school s risk profile so they are
prepared for the joint meeting ensure staff and governors with the best knowledge of external
developments
PEST Analyses
A PEST analysis (also sometimes called a STEP, PESTLE or STEEP analysis) looks at the external
business environment. PEST stands for Political, Economic, Sociocultural and Technological.
Technological factors in this case, include ecological / environmental aspects the second E in
STEEP and PESTLE, while legislative factors are included under Political (the L in PESTLE). The
analysis examines the impact of each of these factors (and their interplay with each other) on the
business. The results can then be used to take advantage of opportunities and to make contingency
plans for threats.

Honestly, I am so happy that there was a breather fight in between, between the characters
Hakumen, a warrior clad in white, and the Leader of the Six Heroes and Terumi, a man wearing

rather despicable actions. Too bad it went by faster than a lightning bolt. In the second round, I

concept called dominant strategy: Once you discover something that is good, you re always

Artillery In The Civil War
When the American Civil War of 1861 1865 began, the Union Army classified its artillery into
three types, depending on the gun s weight and intended use. Field artillery were light pieces that
often traveled with the armies. Siege and garrison artillery were heavy pieces that could be used
either in attacking or defending fortified places. Seacoast artillerywere the heaviest pieces and were
intended to be used in permanent fortifications along the seaboard. Regardless of type, however,
continuous changes of war caused artillery types to be interchanged often, and it was also
common to view a Confederate battery of all different pieces. Because of the size and weight of
the guns, many categorized or classified artillery as either heavy

Similarities Between Good Night And Good Luck And The...
Have you ever been blamed for something that you never took part in, or something you didn t
do? How awful did it make you feel? Pretty terrible, I know. This is what was happening
everyday in 1950 s when the second red scare occurred. The movie Good Night, and Good Luck
and The Crucible by Arthur Miller display the many false accusations that were brought upon the
plethora of people in the society that were said to be people they weren t. This made the public
aware of what was really going on at the time, and to show that history was repeating itself.
There are two people who were falsely accused that were definitely surprising when reading and
watching the two forms of entertainment were Edward Murrow and John Proctor. These two
characters are very similar in the sense that they both were wrongfully alleged to be people that
they weren t. Mary Warren, a weak follower in the novel, says to Proctor in front of the judges

Literary Naturalism In Wharton s The Awakening And Lily Bart
Naturalism is a genre of literature which focuses on how societal conditions and environmental
factors influence human behavior. Naturalist authors often incorporate scientific language to depict
the human struggle for survival in hostile environments which suggests that they were influenced
by Darwin s theory of evolution and natural selection. Naturalist texts use natural forces as a form
of determinism to affect the behaviors and actions of the characters in them. In the course of this
essay we will examine the fate of both Edna Pontellier, Kate Chopin s The Awakening, and Lily
Bart, from Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth, demonstrate the principles of literary naturalism
however, they differ in that they demonstrate different approaches to literary naturalism; one, in
Chopin, with forces overwhelming Edna from within [i.e. desire] and the other, in Wharton, with
forces overwhelming Lily from without [i.e. the economy].
The Awakening
Edna Pontellier is a married mother of two living an affluent lifestyle with her husband,

harmony which had been offered her, gave her no regret, no longing. It was not a condition of life
which fitted her, and she could see in it but an appalling and hopeless ennui (Chopin, 107). For

Obamacare uses federal subsidies make health care premiums more affordable for people with
lower incomes. People closer to the poverty line receive extra subsidies which reduce the cost of

Pierre Bourdieu s The Logic Of Practice Essay
About halfway through reading Pierre Bourdieu s The Logic of Practice, I realized I had an
important question regarding this assignment: What does any of this have to do with religion?
Not once was religion or any explicit religious theme specifically discussed, besides for a brief
segment regarding myths and rites, which he actually structures within a heavily economic
framework. In fact, this booked seemed more appropriate for a discussion regarding economic
semiotics and socialization through the human body as opposed to theories of religion.
Nevertheless, I highly doubt this book would be completely devoid of religion theory relevance.
This essay will then be an attempt to answer my own question. For starters, Bourdieu s piece can
be interpreted as a critique of modern scholarship, including the study of religion. Although
Bourdieu discusses objectivism and subjectivism, one can juxtapose the underlying critiques
relationship with the study of religion. Beginning with the Introduction chapter, Bourdieu is
occupied by the false duality between objectivism and subjectivism. He argues that both of these
approaches are opposed to the practical mode of knowledge which is the basis of ordinary
experience of the social world because they are both rooted in the same objectifications of
epistemological and social circumstances to describe two supposedly different realities (25).
However, objectivism is Bourdieu s main target throughout the book. First, he depicts

There are many different creatures in the ocean. They are categorized into 3 different groups that
are Zooplankton, Nekton, and Benthos. In the ocean the zooplankton eat phytoplanktons.
Zooplankton are eaten by all of the larger animals. Phytoplankton self reproduce so they don t
need to eat other things. They create their own food. The Nekton eat the zooplankton because it

Film Analysis Of The Film Edward Scissorhands
The film Edward Scissorhands depicts a story about an artificial man who has blades for hands
named Edward Scissorhands, played by Johnny Depp. Edward was made by an inventor in his
mansion atop a hill near a small town. Long after his inventor s death, the isolated Edward is
brought into the public by a local resident. Although Edward s sharp scissors hands separates
him from the rest of society, he attempts to fit into civilization and struggles to be seen as more
than just a misfit. In the film, there are three techniques of continuity editing which are
establishing shots, shot/reverse shots and cross cutting. Establishing Shot The establishing shot
of the film introduces the location of the mansion atop hill. The scene starts with a woman
known as Peg Boggs, an Avon representative. As she is failing to sell her products, Peg sits in car
and happens to look in her side mirror at the isolated mansion. After she decides to drive there,
an establishing shot of the mansion on the hill is shown. The hill is dark and looms directly
above the suburb. It stands in direct contrast to the suburbs colorfulness. The benefit of this shot
is to give film structure; it establishes is the location of the main character even before
introducing the viewers to Edward. SRS A Shots/Reverse shot is used in the scene where Peg
finds Edward in the attic of the mostly empty house, with a gaping hole in the rooftop and
misaligned wooden floors. When Peg sees him clearly she appears to pity

Execution and Results in a Crisis Situation
1. In the Kirkpatrick and Shane article, several leaders are mentioned including President George
W. Bush, Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff, and FEMA Director Michael D. Brown.
Briefly evaluate each of these leaders on their overall effectiveness at Managing Execution and
Driving for Results.

A dependence grows between employee and leader in which the employee has grown
accustomed to the leader giving orders and directions, and makes every effort to follow such
guidance to the letter. This dependence does not bode well in situations of high stress and
shortened reaction times. As General HonorГ© stated, the first part of the leader s job is to set
people on the right path ( A Military General s Leadership Lessons, 2009). This happens when the
leader gives the initial order. In this case, it was to evacuate the people out of harms way. The plan
was then laid out for the authorities to execute.
What happened, was that the dependance the authorities placed on the plan of execution did not
allow themselves to modify the plan of execution when the situation changed. The leaders were
bossing the authorities around in such a manner that the right path and desired end result were
forgotten. When this occurs, and the execution loses all forward motion because the initial plan is
not being followed to the letter, the leaders who were barking orders have to devide their time up
between coming up with a new plan and then desiminating it to the proper authorities. A leader who
motivates the execution, works WITH the execution. In order to motivate, a leader needs to be
involved with those he or she plans to motivate. By involving themselves with the execution, they

Age Of Reform Dbq
The Age of Reform started in 1820 and ended in 1860. The reform was to try to get rid
discrimination against many things or to improve conditions of life. People wanted life to become
more fair and everyone to be equal. In the Age of Jackson democracy became more popular,
democracy is what influenced the reform. Without these movements the US would not be the same
today. One of the many movements in the reform is the women s rightsmovement. Women could
not vote, attend schools, or have certain jobs. They were expected to take care of the house, cook,
and clean. Two women named Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Stanton impacted this movement in
many ways. They had the idea to create a convention after they were told women could not take
part in the proceedings . Their convention discussed many things such as, social, civil, and religious
rights of women. This was the first gathering aimed toward women. Later Stanton wrote The
Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments talked about full equality for women.

Twain Hyperbole
Twain begins the essay by quoting a few critics, who praise the works of Cooper, as Thomas
Lounsbury, Brander Matthews and Willkie Collins. Twain comments: It seems to me that it was
far from right for the Professor of English Literature in Yale, the Professor of English Literature
in Columbia, and Willkie Collins to deliver opinions on Cooper s literature without having read
some of it. It would have been much more decorous to keep silent and let persons talk who have

The greatest example of hyperbole is seen at the end of the essay. Twain implements his final

Thereupon, Twain says that he put many men from all various religions in a cage and after two

the savagery of man in an example of an Earl who hunts buffalo for food and a snake that eats a

anaconda kills just one calf for food. Furthermore, Twain elucidates that when Humans keep

Similarities Between Grendel And Beowulf

If you have ever read the book Grendel, which is a playoff of the book Beowulf, you know the
author depicts the protagonist as a good character. The author, John Gardner, uses many
techniques in his writing to make Grendel sound like a good protagonist. He made a good
argument for its protagonist by describing other characters as evil, giving an idea of character s
backstory to help guide your opinions towards certain characters, and giving Grendel many of the
traits of the nine noble virtues.
Throughout the book John Gardner describes the characters in his book Grendel to make them

Sykes and Matza state that there is five contributory factors to the rationalisation process these are
denial of responsibility, denial of injury, denial of the victim, condemnation of the condemners,
and appeal to the higher loyalties. Denial of responsibility is when a delinquent will blame
another group for his criminal act such as his parents did not give them a good upbringing or his
school let him down, they look at themselves as the victim. Denial of injury is when they
rationalise there action because nobody was hurt, for example vandalism or shoplifting from a
large store chain who they believe can afford the lose. Denial of the victim is when they state that
the victim deserved it. Condemnation of the condemners they blame the other group for there
actions and try to deflect responsibility and appeal to higher loyalties they are fighting for the
ethical good. Chambliss and Snider state that capitalism is the main contributor to delinquency as
we strive to achieve personal wealth and gain an individual who does not achieve this feel justified
in delinquent behaviour.
Theory of political economy and criminalisation this looks at how capitalism can shape delinquent
and deviant behaviour. Chambliss argues :
The heart of the capitalist economic system is the protection of private property, which is, by
definition, the cornerstone upon which capitalist economies function. It is not surprising, then to

industry would not be willing to do it unless the policy requires them to do so. However, the
relevant policies in many developed countries are lacking. So if the national laws and regulations
force the tobacco industry to do it then the solution would be more effective. Thirdly, the solutions
for government, the government should ban on tobacco advertising and raise tobacco taxes. WHO

African American Mckinley Campaign
According to Gosnell, William Mckinley won a significant number of votes from lower and
middle class members because of the amount of Republican propaganda his campaign used.
Mckinley supported by upper class members had more capital to campaign and was able to reach

Winter Symbolism In Literature Essay
When you think of winter what do you usually think about? I think about the freezing temperatures,
the ice, and the snow. However, in literature winter can be symbolic of many things. The dark,
sadness, old age, and death are just some of the things winter can symbolize in literature. The
songs California dreamin by the Mamas and Papas and A hazy shade of winterby Simon and
Garfunkel are both about winter but mean very different things. Foster s How to Read
Literature Like a Professor will also be referenced in order to help show the meanings of these
pieces. California dreaming is a very simple and straightforward song;. It has three short verses
and a chorus that repeats a couple of times. California dreamin on such a winter s day is repeated
throughout the song. This is the main essence of the song. The narrator is telling us that he likes
the warm and sunny days of California more than the cold harsh winter. Throughout this song
we learn of other things that the narrator dislikes which are gray skies and brown leaves. These
signify the arrival of winter which saddens the narrator. There s also a deeper meaning that can
be figured out with the help of Foster s work. In his book he tells us that the cold often can
symbolize sadness and that warm often symbolizes happiness. One of the many possible
meanings that the mamas and papas could be trying to convey is that it isn t easy to be happy.
In the song the narrator arrives at a church and is going to stay. Even though he isn t very happy
he would rather be in the church than in the cold as shown in the next verse where he starts to
complain about the cold again. We can learn from this message to be thankful for what we have
even though it isn t what we want because it could always be worse. In A Hazy Shade of Winter
by Simon and Garfunkel the narrator sends a clear message that he does not like the arrival of
winter. When you hear the song you can tellhow much he doesn t like the winter anytime anything
related to it is said. His voice becomes low, dull and lifeless. The way he sings tries to makes you
associate sadness with the winter. To the narrator the winter may be sad because it is cold but if

Essay on Benedick and Beatrice s Love in Much Ado About...
Entry 1: Act I: Don Pedro and his men return from the war and visit the house of Leonato and his
brother, Antonio. This sudden meeting reunites Beatrice with her archrival, Benedick, and it is here
that Claudio and Hero fall in love.
React:
In Shakespeare s Much Ado about Nothing, there are the usual characters that show up in most of
Shakespeare s pieces. For instance the characters Hero and Claudio could easily be compared to
Romeo and Juliet. Both Hero and Juliet are innocent, quite, and beautiful young women who fall in
love instantly without conversing with the other person. Likewise, Claudio and Romeo decide to

In other words, she says it s good you can t love because women would only be troubled by your
infatuation, and as for myself I d rather be listening to my dog bark than listen to you or any man

Beatrice, with her quick wit and humor, is easily the spotlight stealer in Much Ado about Nothing.
She possesses many great qualities that the other characters lack and ultimately gets the story going
and captures the audience s attention.
Entry 2: Act II: In celebration of the soldiers return, Leonato hosts a masked dance where Don
Pedro woes Hero for Claudio. Don John tries tells Claudio his brother is wooing Hero for
himself, but Don Pedro clarifies the matter and tells Claudio that he has kept his promise. The
others decide amongst themselves that during the week that Hero and Claudio wait to be wed,
they shall play a game in order to make Beatrice and Benedick fall in love.
Relate:
Balthasar s song in scene iii of Act II, is precluded by a subtle yet important line from himself.
He says, Since many a wooer doth commence his suit to her he thinks not worthy, yet he woos,
yet he will swear his love (II.iii.50 52). This introduces to readers the song as well as its topic, and
he means that men usually chase after women even if they think they are of a lower class and will

Up Until Recently, Hoarding Has Been Classified As A Subtype
Up until recently, hoarding has been classified as a subtype of obsessive compulsive disorder.
However, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5 )has now
included a separate diagnostic entry for hoarding. Hoarding Disorder affects anywhere from 3
6% of the general population (Allan, et. al. 2015). Hoarding is defined as the acquisition and
inability to let go of a large number of possessions, resulting in clutter that precludes the use of
living spaces for their intended purposes (Chong, et. al. 2014). In addition to being associated
with obsessive compulsive disorder, hoarding disorder has been linked to all three dimensions of

Furthermore, these individuals may hold a significant sentimental attachment to numerous objects.
This often leads to clutter and disorganization within the hoarders household. Hoarding is further
broken down by four major elements. These key elements are as follows: excessive acquiring,
failure to discard possessions, clutter, and distress and impairment due to hoarding (Gillam, Tolin,
2010). Hoarders acquire their possessions in a multitude of ways. These ways include compulsive
buying, attainment of free objects, and in severe cases, stealing. Individuals oftentimes spend hours
looking for objects to bring back home. Those who hoard describe the procurement of objects as
very exciting and even report feeling frugal because of their finds. Certain hoarding individuals also
find enjoyment out of hunting for new objects to bring back home. In addition, these same
individuals also report feeling discomfort and agitation when trying to refrain from buying objects.
Those with hoarding disorder feel that the attainment of objects brings them positive emotions
similar to those one may experience when they have impulse control disorders like gambling.
Individuals with hoarding disorder have difficulties throwing out things that the general population
would view as garbage or unusable. Similar to the general population, who hates being wasteful or
throwing away objects that may be useful in the future,

Racial Predujice toward Minority Groups
Racial prejudice toward minority groups has been a problem throughout all of history. While overt
racism and prejudice may be diminished from the days of our dark past, covert racism is very
much alive. Society loves to embellish on how far the country has come in the fight against racial
prejudice by highlighting significant events such as having the first black president. Yet there are
still too many instances of subtle racism. In 2011, there were almost 700,000 incidents of stop and
frisk policing in New York. Nine out of ten of these incidents involved blacks or Hispanics,
which is ridiculous because blacks make up less than a quarter of the New York Population
(Bobo 2013). Prejudice causes unfair treatment to innocent people. Everyone should be treated the
same and given the same amount of respect. Continuing the fight towards an unprejudiced world
has so many benefits including making sure everyone feels safe and respected in society and the
possibility to learn from other ethnic groups. A world without prejudice would be a much more
effective world with more time spent on making life better for all instead of violence and hate.
Government officials and psychologists are trying to advertise how being in contact with other
ethnic groups has reduced prejudice. Many psychologists are already praising contact theory
research for its contribution toward world peace and its efforts against prejudice (Dixon, Tropp,
Durrheim, and Tredoux 2010). However, the two empirical

more efficiently; Chinese government ensured that adequate technology was provided for the
nobles and commoners alike, while the Roman government officials gave precedence to using
technology for infrastructure improvements and not necessarily towards welfare of the people.
During the early 2nd century BCE, a Han government official wrote to local officials on
organizing his labor force (Document 1). Water conservation offices were requested to be placed
in each of the districts and staffed with people who were experienced with the water passage. The
official focuses on ordering inspections throughout the empire, along with supplying workers to
tend to repairing duties. He showed concern for the common people and conveyed the idea that
technology is an essential part of the empire and the need for government intervention in order to

Shoko Asahara Cult
At first, the religion of Shoko Asahara, Aum Shinrikyo, now the cult Aleph was not the dangerous
and threatening organization its image is associated to be now. In fact, there was a time where
Asahara and Aum Shinrikyo members had taken up an attitude similar to that of a humble
missionary. However, the Aum Shinrikyofaith, as well as Asahara, had been obsessed with some of
the philosophies of the Bible, the Book of Revelation in particular, and had an unfortunate
turnaround, which resulted in the religion s currently bad reputation. This cult is a perfect example
to show what Paul meant when he said that false christs pretend to be holy servants of God.

The religion also holds the claim that Asahara is the only person to have attained the highest level
of consciousness and that he is in the state of Nirvana; Asahara even claimed to be Christ. Tibetan
beliefs of extrasensory experiences are also included in the Aum Shinrikyo faith, with clairvoyance,
levitation, and the ability to see through walls being some of these extrasensory abilities that
Asahara promoted and claimed to have (news.bbc.co.uk; fas.org). According to John Pike, the Aum
Shinrikyo faith strongly promoted Shiva, the god of destruction, and thus put a particular emphasis
on Armageddon, or the end of the world. Asahara claimed salvation from this destruction for those
who reached higher levels of consciousness by going through him, the Supreme Master ; their
reincarnated states would hold a special status amongst others. Apparently, this Armageddon was
going to involve a third world war in 1997 that would be initiated between Japan and the United
States; one supposed goal of Aum Shinrikyo was their involved their salvation activities during
this time and the revival of the Japanese nation after the collapse of their country. Members of
Aum Shinrikyo were also very anti Semitic, and put part of the blame for this onto the Jews
(fas.org). Putting the skeptical claims of extrasensory experiences aside for now, the beliefs of Aum
Shinrikyo concerning the Bible,

How Did The Greeks Influence Today s Civilization
Greece had a big part in Europe s civilization. The Minoans were the first civilization to live in
Europe. The Minoans lived on a island called Crete, which is part of Greece now. According to a
legend, there was a man named Aegeus and he had thought that his son, Theasus, had just been
eaten by the Minotaur, the Minotaur was half bull and half human, but he had not. Aegeus
jumped off the edge of a cliff and died in an ocean which is now called the Agean Sea. The
Greeks gave lots more names of places to us. After the Minoans camed the Myceneans. The
Myceneans tried to be as good as they Minoans were but, they couldn t beat them. Around 1100
BC the Greeks entered a stage called the Dark Age. They coudln t read, write, or have any other
literary uses. Starting around 480 BC, Greeceentered the Classical age, which is usually seen as
the golden era of ancient Greece ( Ancient Greece ). The Greeks helped us a lot in today s
civilization.

Present Day In American Culture
This essay has had a deliberate focus on gnomic, historical quotes in order to emphasise the
importance of the past. In truth, however, so much of history is unrecorded, so many lines of it
unrecorded. Without archaeology, all information on proto historic civilisations would only be from
written accounts, and there would be no information whatsoever on prehistoric civilisations.
Archaeology can even serve to explain modern trends. The present day has been influenced so
much by the pastthat the two are inextricably linked, and learning about the past can tell so much
about the present today. Equally, so much about the past can be explained using present rituals.
Some Native Americans have traditions that can be traced back thousands of years

Analysis Of The Movie House
When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only
two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home. Everything in my life had been
improving! Darry and I rarely fought, instead of tension, there was a connection. Even though he
never said it, I could tell he felt it too. I was still thinking about Johnny a ton (it had been 7
weeks since he had died), but I had accepted that he wasn t with us physically. I kept him in my
heart, and instead of grieving, I remembered all of our fun times together. Moving on, school
was better than ever. After I turned in my essay, it made its way up to the school board. They sent a
copy home with each kid, so the parents would know what really happened. The truth was
revealed, and I made some good buddies, who didn t care if I was a Greaser, or a Soc, or a middle
man. My grades were back to straight A s and Darry was as proud as can be. I had to quit track, in
order to make time for football. I m was and still am the starting running back on my high school
footballteam, and Darry had just quit one of his jobs, when he got offered the position of head
coach. He was still fixing roofs, and coaching football at the same time. Darry was happy, he had
found a way to follow his dreams. That was last month. By the end of this week, our lives had
changed! One random Thursday, after Darry came home from roofing, he told Sodapop and I,
about the lady he had met at the house he was roofing, This

Beauty In Fat Girl And The Birthmark
What is beauty? Who is beautiful? It is very difficult to answer these types of questions. Beauty
has different meanings in different people, different cultures and different countries. It also
changes throughout time. However, many of us judge beauty only in terms of physical
appearance. We can see similar scenarios in the stories Fat Girl by Andre Dubus, and The
Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Judging beauty in terms of physical appearance is not the best
way to describe beauty. Without looking perfect, a person still can be wonderful with his or her
great virtues. So, a human being with a good heart, kindness, intelligence, love and happiness is
beautiful. Therefore, beauty varies from person to person. Physical structure can be... Show more

According to the Oxford Dictionary beauty is a noun, meaning, a combination of qualities, such
as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. In the article On
Beauty by Lindsay King Miller mentions Taylor s explanation that Beauty exists; standards do
not. Beauty is undefinable, is subjective, is intrinsic to humanity. If a group of people is asked
what does beauty mean to you? they will most probably reply the dictionary meaning. However,
if the same group of people is asked individually what kind of shape, color and form constitutes
beauty, each one of them will come up with a different answer. Some like based on hair, some
like based on skin color, some like based on height etc. This is because there are a lot of types of
shape, color and form, and everyone has a different preference for the shape, color and form. For
this reason, Georgina from The Birthmark was regarded beautiful by most of the people except
her husband, who didn t like the birthmark. The husband thought Georgina would be perfect if
the birthmark were removed. Aylmer says, dearest Georgiana, you came so nearly perfect from
the hand of Nature that this slightest possible defect, which we hesitate whether to term a defect
or a beauty, shocks me, as being the visible mark of earthly imperfection (Hawthorne 305). So,
Georgina s husband and other people had different opinions about her birthmark. Aylmer s
assistant Aminadab says If she were my wife, I d never part with that birthmark (Hawthorne
305). Since everyone can t agree on whether a person is beautiful or not in terms of physical
appearance, it can t be the only factor of beauty. On the other hand, if beauty is judged in terms of
values of a person like that of kindness, manners and other behaviors than everyone will be able to
come to the same conclusion. That is because, a person is simply either kind or unkind and well

Argumentative Essay On Race And Race
At the end of the week that brought Baton Rouge, St. Paul, and Dallas, President Obama said,
America is not as divided as some have suggested.
Isn t it pretty to think so?
Has the president not seen the headlines?
Rudy Giuliani says Black Lives Matter is Racist.
Jesse Jackson says Donald Trump helped seed the clouds of recent violence.
Those were but two.
Maybe the president needs to read my emails.
Black Lives Matter, a rent a cop mob equivalent to the KKK, has been provoking this for months

wrestle with race.
Yes, Mr. President, we are precisely this divided. About race, and much more.
The Pew Research Center recently reported that for the first time in more than two decades of
surveys, majorities in both parties expressed very unfavorable views of each other. Fifty eight
percent of Republicans have a very unfavorable impression of Democrats, who in turn have a 55
percent unfavorable view of Republicans.
Strong negative opinions often rise out of ignorance. Not this time. Pew also reported 85 percent
of voters say they are following the election closely. Sixty percent say they are more interested in
politics than they were four years ago.
So rather than an uninformed polarization, the growing, gaping gulch between Americans is
widened by the voices to which we give our attention.

Levy Law Personal Statement
I became interested in pursuing legal education ever since I took grade 11 and 12 law courses in
high school. Those courses illustrated to me the significance of legal professionals to society s
stability and justice. To get a better understanding about the legal sphere, I enrolled in co operative
education where I was assigned to Levy Law Professional Corporation for the placement. I
immediately blended into the environment and started to excel at my tasks. After my co operative
education placement came to conclusion, the managing partner at Levy Law Professional
Corporation offered me an employment opportunity for my excellent performance. Throughout my
employment at Levy Law Professional Corporation I have been exposed to various legal
proceedings associated with the personal injury sphere that helped me to develop variety of skills,
including critical reading abilities, writing skills, oral communication, listening abilities, research

It was just a normal day for me. My first interaction with the mafia prince was when we were

business meeting. But what daddy said was law. So I put on a winning smileand went with him. I
never knew exactly what daddy did. I asked him once and he brushed the question off and his
exact words,, I am a businessman, now go play or something Minnie, I m busy. Children were to

The Importance Of Religions In Advertising
In today s culture, everyone can see advertisements anywhere promoting products, people, or ideas.
Advertisements are found on billboards, radio, television, newspapers, logos on the sides of drinks,
and even in restrooms. Ads are used to make people think that this is a must, to make them think
that they need this or that they have to start doing this and that they should to be like this person or
follow them. In America, we have freedom of religion, meaning that anyone can be of any religion
or not follow any religion at all if they chose without being harassed or persecuted for their beliefs.
God and various religions should not be used in promoting products, people and/or ideas.
Companies use advertisements to promote their products with the basic principle that their
product is the best in the market. God and various religions should not be used in advertising
products because it is ethically wrong. If a company used God or a certain religion to promote
their products they are basically saying that they know the direct word of God. They are also
saying that the beliefs of one religious group s teachings and including the thoughts of the
members of the religion are all in agreement of that specific product, that it is the best. This
approach is not only wrong in the ethical sense but also it could deeply offend many different
cultures and religious groups. It is also not a good financial decision for the company to make. If
one company promoted one of their products with

Government Intervention
Executive Summary Slide This presentation will reveal the reasons why government intervention
was required in the 1920 s, and provide its evolution from its inception to current day challenges.
The summary slides above will highlight various topics that will be covered in this presentation
backed by supporting research and analysis.
1.Describe the intervention and detail its history.
Social security was created out of necessity by the United States of America (US) government. One
primary cause attributing to this necessity was due to better health care and sanitation, and the
development of effective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.Analyze the arguments for government intervention as opposed to arguments for market based
solutions. Hint: See the information in our course textbook on market failures.
Without government intervention, the US economy would have continued to be devastated based
on the millions of Americans who lost their jobs, savings disappearances, and the senior citizens
having no source of income when they reached retirement age, (Koba, 2013). The market could not
correct itself from as the Gross National Product was almost cut in half from 1929 to 1932, where
recovery efforts without government intervention would be next to impossible.
3.Examine who may be helped and who may be hurt by the selected government intervention.
Social Security has helped the elderly receive income during their retirement years, and has helped
those who have disabilities from accidents and other disabilities to supplement their income
sources. Social Security takes a portion of income from workers paychecks each month, and pay
those individuals a retirement income based on when they elect to retire and receive this income.
This income makes up of more than half the retirement income of more than 75 percent of retired
Americans, and continues to help households with their daily living expenses by injecting funds
back into the economy (Osterland, 2014). Oddly enough,

Network Flows
Author: versity. Arthur M. Hobbs, Department of Mathematics, Texas A M Uni
Prerequisites: The prerequisites for this chapter are graphs and trees. See
Sections 9.1 and 10.1 of Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications.
Introduction
In this chapter we solve three very different problems.
Example 1
Joe the plumber has made an interesting offer. He says he has lots of short pieces of varying
gauges of copper pipe; they are nearly worthless to him, but for only 1/5 of the usual cost of
installing a plumbing connection under your house, he will use a bunch of T and Y joints he
picked up at a distress sale and these small pipes to build the network shown in Figure 1. He claims
that it will deliver three gallons per minute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Example 4
Find a flow in the graph of Figure 3.
Solution:
The path p = s, b, a, t extends from s to t, and seen as a sequence of pipes, the largest amount of
flow that could travel along it is the minimum of the capacities of the pipes comprising it. This
minimum is 2, which is c(s, b)

and also c(b, a). Thus we put number pairs on each of the edges, the second entry being 2 for each
edge in the path and 0 for the other two edges. The result is shown in Figure 4.
Figure 4.
Graph of Figure 3 with flow along path s,b,a,t.
There are two ways we can view a flow, and Example 4 illustrates them both. One view is to
trace out the path from the source to the sink of one or more units of flow. In the example, path
p is such a path. The other view is to measure the total flow in each edge of the graph. This view
is shown in the example by our placing the amount of flow along each edge. Since there is
actually only one flow, namely the orderly procession of fluid from the source to the sink
through the network, these two views must be equivalent.
When solving the problem of finding maximum flows through the graph, the second view is
preferable for two reasons. If we are searching a very large network by hand, it may well be
impossible for us to п¬Ѓnd a best set

school shootings have come to be all to regular. For some waking up and going to school has

Relationship Between Secure Attachment And Self Esteem Essay
The relationship between Secure attachment and self esteem in adults Kathryn O Dwyer 30323696
Federation University Abstract The attachments you create with parents when you are younger are
very important for the relationships you experience later in life; and the self esteem you live with
when experiencing adulthood. To examine whether there is a relationship between secure
attachment and self esteem, 520 undergraduate psychology students were to complete two
questionnaires; The Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1989) measures self esteem and
Attachment Style Questionnaire Modified (ASQ Mod; Feeney, Noller, Hanrahan, 1994) to measure
attachment type. As predicted the participants who have a secure attachment type were likely to
have high levels of self esteem, this was supported by the medium positive correlation coefficient (r
= .326) between self esteem and secure attachment. The relationship between Secure attachment and
self esteem in adults Have you ever thought of the type of attachment established with your parents
at a young age, to be similar to the attachment currently experienced with people? And knowing that
whatever attachment type you formed accounts for the levels of self esteem you possess?
Attachment is characterized by specific behaviors in children, such as seeking proximity with the
attachment figure when upset or threatened (Bowlby, 1969). According to research, over 50% of
the population are secure attachment types

  • 2. Silence Of The Lambs Analysis The Silence of the lambs (1991) is in doubt a film which demonstrates a well constructed horror film. The film, ranging with scenes, shots, and frames that were well constructed to be identified as horrific. The films cinematography shifts the films narrative and impacts the film, especially the film s frames. It seems reasonable to suppose that from the films frames and of those of the characters expressions, they shape the film s genre to be horrifying, psychological, and thrilling and they guide viewers towards where the film s narrativewill lead to. Therefore, even a single or series of frames in the film such as Hannibal Lecters evil smile, Buffalo Bill opening the door, Hannibal Lecter standing in his cell, and the dialogue between Agent Starling and Hannibal Lecter, act collectively to represent and symbolize claims about the film. In the first frame of Hannibal Lecter, it is a close up shot of his disturbing smile. This frame represents him and gives several interpretive claims about him and it denotes certain messages and claims of him. Many of the shots of Hannibal Lecter are mostly shots of his face and his facial expressions. Since, his facial expressions are so intimidating, they are very crucial to be implemented throughout the film, Hannibal Lecter is a character that if one glances at him, one will cringe and feel very uncomfortable. From this frame alone, one will immediately have a general idea of the persona of Hannibal Lecter. He is one who plays with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. My Aspiration For The Health Field My aspiration to work in the health field comes from many different experiences in my life. As an only child and being a descendant to Haitian parents who came to this country to make a better living for themselves, I understand I am the first to further my education. Knowing I have opportunities that my parents did not have, I am dedicated and will do all that it takes to follow my dreams to become a great PA. After graduating from Florida Atlantic University, volunteering and becoming a certified nursing assistantgrew my enthusiasm; I know it s the right profession for me. I would love to be part of a team working with other health professionals, providing patients with health information and counseling in an environment that appreciates diversity and supports minorities. My desire to work in the health field began when I was diagnosed with Bell s palsy as a teenager. I know it is not a life threatening condition. However, when I was diagnosed I did not know what was happening. My doctor could not give me a definite answer as to why half of my face was suddenly paralyzed. That time period was the most stressful and disheartening time of my life. I felt even embarrassed to laugh or smile in front of my friends. I remember one day when I went for check ups on my condition, I felt normal again as one of the PAs described how she went through the same experience with Bell s palsy as a young adult in Jamaica. The same experience I had with that PA is the same experience I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kotter (Kotter,1988) of the Harvard Business School defines leadership as The process of moving a group (or groups) in some direction through mostly noncoercive means. Effective leadership is defined as leadership that produces movement in the long term best interests of the group(s). Four unexpected qualities of Inspirational leaders (Harvard Business Review, 2000) They selectively reveal their weaknesses. They rely entirely on their intuition to put forward their thoughts to action They manage their followers with emotions They outstand the crowd. Proper training and a nurturing environment with an atmosphere of people being rewarded for what they deliver. An environment where a leader can put his innovative and creative ideas with calculated risk taking and allows some space for occasional failure (Capowski G., 1994). Management According to Van Vactor (2012), Management emphasizes systems controls, procedures and policies employed in a process (p.556) Careful planning is the first step in successful management. Planning helps the organization to prepare themselves for external pressures like monetary issues, personnel deficit and technical advancements (Barr,2008). • 7. How Did The League Of Nations A Success The League of Nations was supposed to be an international organization that would help solve disputes between the different countries to avoid future wars and bring lasting peace. It was endorsed on January 10th, 1920 with its headquarters located in Geneva, Switzerland. The League was created and introduced by President Woodrow Wilson of the United States of America along with his Fourteen Points, a plan listing terms which he believed must be comprised in the Peace Treaty of Versailleswhich would bring an end to World War I . Many nations were members of the League, and it did help resolve certain issues, but unfortunately, there were quite as many failures as there were triumphs. Eventually though, the League failed and led to World War II, only to be replaced by the United Nations in 1946. The League of Nations, meant to be a strong power and keep peace with all nations who were members, was only a weak and virtually power less organization. President Woodrow Wilson created the League of Nations and used his immense influence to attempt to achieve its success. He believed that it would guarantee lasting world peace and resolve any disputes between nations. President Clemenceau of France and Prime Minister Loyd George of Great Britain, while highly doubting that the League would succeed, supported it in order that Wilson would support their plan of revenge on Germany. • 8. Research Paper Henry Ford Daniel Rodriguez English 10 Mrs. Toman March 29, 2011 Research Paper: Henry Ford Imagine how life would be if our society did not have cars. Today, our society is dependent on cars for our daily routines. From transporting our food, clothes, and technology to just going to the store across the street, cars are a very important part of our society. In the 19th century, only the wealthy and upper middle class had access to automobiles, and they only used cars for fancy transportation and to show off their money. This was due to the extreme prices of cars in the 19th century. With these high prices not many people could afford them, especially not the working class. Henry Ford revolutionized the automotive industry in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He had his workers work less, with more breaks, and he also payed them almost twice as much as other jobs. As Eric Foner states, Ford paid the assembly line workers $5 a day when prevailing wages were about $2.50...he also reduced working hours to 8. With this, workers were more likely to work harder and better, which led to more productivity. The productivity was not done alone, the infrastructure of the assembly line is very critical to the production process. This was done by, as Robert Sobel states, ...conveyor belts in the assembly line that brought parts to the workers to perform their specific task. All this improved the production rate and it satisfied the workers. Many may say the assembly line removed individuality, however it brought faster, better, and cheaper production to the Ford Motor Company. With the success of the assembly line, Ford was very please however he had a bigger goal set. Ford wanted to produce cheap cars for the common people to use. Ford made many different types of cars and experimented with each of them. They were all good but not good enough. After many different models, Ford achieved his goal with his invention of the Ford Model T. The Model T was a fully functional compact automobile with a good transmission and torque as well as comfort and size. Apart from that, the most important aspect of the Model T was that is was extremely cheap. As Sobel states, ...the model T was only worth $290 in 1924. This was a huge ... • 9. Large Aircraft Essays The A 380 is becoming more popular as airlines look for ways to move the maximum amount of passengers for the least money (Stafford, 2006). The A380 is made in passenger or freight versions. The A380 800 is the largest passenger plane in the world. When passenger areas are divided into three classes, the A380 can seat 550 passengers. When the entire plane is designated economy class, it can seat 853 people. There is 50% more cabin floor space than the Boeing 747 because the A380s upper deck goes the entire length of the fuselage ( Airbus a380airfield, 2011). In 2010 there were already over 30 in use and more are expected in the near future (Young Wells, 2011, p. 473). Due to the size and weight of the aircraft, airports will have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to FAA Order 5300, airports may submit Modifications of Standard (MOS) requests for review of non standard compliance items as long as safety is not compromised . Making modification would be much less expensive and less time consuming for the airports that are able to do them. Some design standards to allow for safe use of the A380 include blast pad dimensions to be 250 x 400 feet ( Airbus a380 airfield, 2011). Many smaller airports will not be able to fit the larger airbus and the A380 will be limited to only the large, hub airports better able to accommodate them. Smaller airports may have to be used as feeder airports that will connect passengers to the large airports and the A380s. This could be a problem of increased congestion with the existing slot system if more connecting flights are needed and there are no more gates available or slot time (Ruehle, Goetsch, Koch, 2006). At this time intercontinental routes use the hub and spoke system. This method allows airlines to bundle an increased number of passengers on the flights. The draw back is that it also leads to a more complex feeder flight schedule. Those airports with the facilities and room to support the airbuses would then become hubs for those aircraft flights. To be profitable and fill enough seats, airports with the most potential passengers would need to be paired for flights. Any delay or cancellation would have a domino effect, costing more ... • 10. Factors That Increase Out Rates And The Importance And... Literature Review One of the many problems our youth is affected by is the decision not to, or inability to graduate high school. This paper will emphasize the issues that can influence drop out rates and the importance and need of an appropriate intervention. Drop out rates, whether difficult to measure accurately, continue to steadily increase, especially for minorities (low SES students, African Americans, and Hispanics). Dropping out of high schoolis a very significant issue, not just for the individual itself, but also for society (Rumberger, 1983). Research shows that students who drop out are more likely to be unemployed, or have low skilled/low paying jobs (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). The problems do not stop there;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Psychological factors also play an important role in Rumberger s study; findings have shown that high levels of confidence, sociability and educational aspirations can distinguish graduate students from dropouts. Among other important factors linked to possible dropouts are family backgrounds, and school settings. Families have a great impact when it comes to school interest and the motivation to stay in school. One study by Hill and Stafford (1977) shows that better educated parents have shown to influence their children s educational aspirations and drive to stay in school (Rumberger, 1983). In addition, a strong parent children communication about their parental expectations for their children s education has shown a relationship to school achievement (Strom Boster, 2007). And important finding shows that even if children are doing poorly in school, those whose parents were involved in their children s education and decisions, were less likely that those with low parental involvement, to drop out of school (Rumberger, Ghatak, Poulos, Ritter, Dornbush, 1990). Schools play a very important role as well; students can lose motivation and become less engaged in school if they cannot find a connection with their school. Studies show that the majority of high school dropouts are associated with disengagement from school (Christle et al., 2007). Teachers have the ability to influence their students motivation to stay in school as well. Students who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Importance Of Voting Rights In America One of the most essential civil liberties afforded to an American citizen is the right to vote. The United States Constitution did not initially define who was eligible to vote, allowing each state to determine who was eligible based on their own standards. As our country developed, we began to see a growing number of activist movements in different communities such as that of African Americans and women. The culmination of Jim Crow laws, state and local laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United Stateslead to civil rights movements for African Americans. Women suffrage movements were broad and included both men and women, who dared to challenge the notion that a woman s place was domestic in nature and should not include civil liberties such as voting. As a result of state and local discriminatory practices, the federal role in elections has gradually increased. Amendments to the Constitution and enacted legislation, such as the Voting Rights Act of 1965, have helped to increase the number of eligible voters. Furthermore, the United States Constitution set forth voting rights that cannot be abridged on account of race, color, previous condition of servitude, sex, or age for those above 18. However, the guidelines outlined in the constitution do not account for In recent years, voter fraud and how to deter it has become a sensitive and heavily debated subject. Too bad it went by faster than a lightning bolt. In the second round, I had a tougher time, but I knew what to do against the beast, so it evens out. • 19. Literary Naturalism In Wharton s The Awakening And Lily Bart Naturalism is a genre of literature which focuses on how societal conditions and environmental factors influence human behavior. Naturalist authors often incorporate scientific language to depict the human struggle for survival in hostile environments which suggests that they were influenced by Darwin s theory of evolution and natural selection. Naturalist texts use natural forces as a form of determinism to affect the behaviors and actions of the characters in them. Pierre Bourdieu s The Logic Of Practice Essay About halfway through reading Pierre Bourdieu s The Logic of Practice, I realized I had an important question regarding this assignment: What does any of this have to do with religion? Not once was religion or any explicit religious theme specifically discussed, besides for a brief segment regarding myths and rites, which he actually structures within a heavily economic framework. In fact, this booked seemed more appropriate for a discussion regarding economic semiotics and socialization through the human body as opposed to theories of religion. Nevertheless, I highly doubt this book would be completely devoid of religion theory relevance. This essay will then be an attempt to answer my own question. For starters, Bourdieu s piece can be interpreted as a critique of modern scholarship, including the study of religion. Although Bourdieu discusses objectivism and subjectivism, one can juxtapose the underlying critiques relationship with the study of religion. Beginning with the Introduction chapter, Bourdieu is occupied by the false duality between objectivism and subjectivism. He argues that both of these approaches are opposed to the practical mode of knowledge which is the basis of ordinary experience of the social world because they are both rooted in the same objectifications of epistemological and social circumstances to describe two supposedly different realities (25). However, in literature winter can be symbolic of many things. The dark, sadness, old age, and death are just some of the things winter can symbolize in literature. The songs California dreamin by the Mamas and Papas and A hazy shade of winterby Simon and Garfunkel are both about winter but mean very different things. Foster s How to Read Literature Like a Professor will also be referenced in order to help show the meanings of these pieces. California dreaming is a very simple and straightforward song;. It has three short verses and a chorus that repeats a couple of times. California dreamin on such a winter s day is repeated throughout the song. This is the main essence of the song. The narrator is telling us that he likes the warm and sunny days of California more than the cold harsh winter. Throughout this song we learn of other things that the narrator dislikes which are gray skies and brown leaves. These signify the arrival of winter which saddens the narrator. There s also a deeper meaning that can be figured out with the help of Foster s work. In his book he tells us that the cold often can symbolize sadness and that warm often symbolizes happiness. One of the many possible meanings that the mamas and papas could be trying to convey is that it isn t easy to be happy. In the song the narrator arrives at a church and is going to stay. Even though he isn t very happy he would rather be in the church than in the cold as shown in the next verse where he starts to complain about the cold again. We can learn from this message to be thankful for what we have even though it isn t what we want because it could always be worse. In A Hazy Shade of Winter by Simon and Garfunkel the narrator sends a clear message that he does not like the arrival of winter. When you hear the song you can tellhow much he doesn t like the winter anytime anything related to it is said. His voice becomes low, dull and lifeless. The way he sings tries to makes you associate sadness with the winter. To the narrator the winter may be sad because it is cold but if we look deeper into the song we ... The theme of the fictional story Rikki Tikki Tavi by Rudyard Kipling is that Rikki Tikki Tavi s love for his family motivates him to be brave and to protect his new family against all odds. Rikki is an active, brave, and loving animal. For example, in the story, Still, the instant s delay brought Rikki Tikki up to her, and as she plunged into the rat hole where she and Nag used to live, his little white teeth were clenched on her tail and he went down with her and very few mongooses, however, wise and old they may be, care to follow a cobra into its hole (pg.19).This shows that Rikki is brave because Rikki was going against a snake and Rikki is just a young mongoose. This ... This sudden meeting reunites Beatrice with her archrival, Benedick, and it is here that Claudio and Hero fall in love. React: In Shakespeare s Much Ado about Nothing, there are the usual characters that show up in most of Shakespeare s pieces. For instance the characters Hero and Claudio could easily be compared to Romeo and Juliet. Both Hero and Juliet are innocent, quite, and beautiful young women who fall in love instantly without conversing with the other person. She possesses many great qualities that the other characters lack and ultimately gets the story going and captures the audience s attention. Entry 2: Act II: In celebration of the soldiers return, Leonato hosts a masked dance where Don Pedro woes Hero for Claudio. Don John tries tells Claudio his brother is wooing Hero for himself, but Don Pedro clarifies the matter and tells Claudio that he has kept his promise. However, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5 )has now included a separate diagnostic entry for hoarding. Hoarding Disorder affects anywhere from 3 6% of the general population (Allan, et. al. 2015). Hoarding is defined as the acquisition and inability to let go of a large number of possessions, resulting in clutter that precludes the use of living spaces for their intended purposes (Chong, et. al. 2014). These key elements are as follows: excessive acquiring, failure to discard possessions, clutter, and distress and impairment due to hoarding (Gillam, Tolin, 2010). Hoarders acquire their possessions in a multitude of ways. These ways include compulsive buying, attainment of free objects, and in severe cases, stealing. Individuals oftentimes spend hours looking for objects to bring back home. Those who hoard describe the procurement of objects as very exciting and even report feeling frugal because of their finds. Certain hoarding individuals also find enjoyment out of hunting for new objects to bring back home. In addition, these same individuals also report feeling discomfort and agitation when trying to refrain from buying objects. Those with hoarding disorder feel that the attainment of objects brings them positive emotions similar to those one may experience when they have impulse control disorders like gambling. While overt racism and prejudice may be diminished from the days of our dark past, covert racism is very much alive. Society loves to embellish on how far the country has come in the fight against racial prejudice by highlighting significant events such as having the first black president. Yet there are still too many instances of subtle racism. In 2011, there were almost 700,000 incidents of stop and frisk policing in New York. Nine out of ten of these incidents involved blacks or Hispanics, which is ridiculous because blacks make up less than a quarter of the New York Population (Bobo 2013). Prejudice causes unfair treatment to innocent people. Everyone should be treated the same and given the same amount of respect. Continuing the fight towards an unprejudiced world has so many benefits including making sure everyone feels safe and respected in society and the possibility to learn from other ethnic groups. A world without prejudice would be a much more effective world with more time spent on making life better for all instead of violence and hate. Government officials and psychologists are trying to advertise how being in contact with other ethnic groups has reduced prejudice. Technology In The Han Dynasty And The Roman Empire The Han dynasty and the Roman empire were two of the largest classical empires between 300 BCE to 300 CE and both experienced a period of expansion. These empires developed technology to help with this expansion for military and practical purposes such as metallurgy and the water mills. The Han dynasty used technology to prevent natural disasters, as well as make their tools more efficient, whereas the Romans took pride in their own civilization s advancements, yet refused to appreciate the lower class artisans who crafted the tools and artistry. The Han dynasty showed an appreciation for technology and utilized it to make their society run more efficiently; Chinese government ensured that adequate technology was provided for the nobles and commoners alike, while the Roman government officials gave precedence to using technology for infrastructure improvements and not necessarily towards welfare of the people. During the early 2nd century BCE, a Han government official wrote to local officials on organizing his labor force (Document 1). Water conservation offices were requested to be placed in each of the districts and staffed with people who were experienced with the water passage. The official focuses on ordering inspections throughout the empire, along with supplying workers to tend to repairing duties. We can see similar scenarios in the stories Fat Girl by Andre Dubus, and The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Judging beauty in terms of physical appearance is not the best way to describe beauty. According to the Oxford Dictionary beauty is a noun, meaning, a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. In the article On Beauty by Lindsay King Miller mentions Taylor s explanation that Beauty exists; standards do not. Beauty is undefinable, is subjective, is intrinsic to humanity. If a group of people is asked what does beauty mean to you? they will most probably reply the dictionary meaning. However, if the same group of people is asked individually what kind of shape, color and form constitutes beauty, each one of them will come up with a different answer. Some like based on hair, some like based on skin color, some like based on height etc. This is because there are a lot of types of shape, color and form, and everyone has a different preference for the shape, color and form. For this reason, Georgina from The Birthmark was regarded beautiful by most of the people except her husband, who didn t like the birthmark. The husband thought Georgina would be perfect if the birthmark were removed. Aylmer says, dearest Georgiana, you came so nearly perfect from the hand of Nature that this slightest possible defect, which we hesitate whether to term a defect or a beauty, shocks me, as being the visible mark of earthly imperfection (Hawthorne 305). So, Georgina s husband and other people had different opinions about her birthmark. Aylmer s assistant Aminadab says If she were my wife, I d never part with that birthmark (Hawthorne 305). Since everyone can t agree on whether a person is beautiful or not in terms of physical appearance, it can t be the only factor of beauty. On the other hand, if beauty is judged in terms of values of a person like that of kindness, manners and other behaviors than everyone will be able to come to the same conclusion.
