Non-chemical methods are important for bed bug management as bed bugs have developed resistance to many insecticides. These methods include clutter removal to eliminate hiding places, using dissolvable laundry bags, bed bug monitors to detect early infestations, vacuuming to aid inspections, steaming to kill bugs on surfaces, cryonite to freeze bugs, diatomaceous earth to dehydrate bugs, and mattress encasements to isolate mattresses. Integrating these non-chemical tools with pest control treatments can help manage bed bug infestations.
Hand dryers have received criticism due to outdated studies and myths, but modern hand dryers address these issues and provide environmental and cost benefits over paper towels. Specifically, older studies claiming hand dryers spread bacteria have been debunked, modern hands-free dryers are more hygienic than surfaces like sinks. Additionally, the upfront and operating costs of hand dryers are lower than paper towels when factors like maintenance and waste are considered. Hand dryers also install and operate with minimal maintenance compared to paper towel dispensers.

It provides guidelines for cleaning operating theaters and critical care areas, including keeping floors dry, cleaning with detergent and low-level disinfectants, and avoiding the use of a single wipe on multiple surfaces. Newer microfiber mopping techniques are presented as a safer alternative that can help reduce the spread of infections in hospitals.
Scabies is a skin infection caused by tiny mites that burrow under the skin. It causes an itchy rash and is highly contagious through direct skin-to-skin contact. There are two main forms: classical scabies with fewer than 20 mites and crusted scabies with thousands of mites. Diagnosis is usually made through examination but can be difficult due to varied symptoms. Treatment involves applying prescribed creams or lotions to kill the mites, with at least two applications one week apart required to fully treat an outbreak. Strict hygiene protocols must be followed to prevent further transmission during treatment.

Efficacy of bed bug control methods and techniquesWendy Wen
Three experiments were conducted to test the efficacy of various consumer and professional bed bug control products: a direct spray bioassay, residual bioassay, and choice bioassay. In the direct spray and residual bioassays, two consumer products (Bed Bug Patrol and EcoRaider) and one professional product (Temprid) achieved 100% mortality of bed bugs. However, in the choice bioassay, while Temprid maintained high mortality, the consumer products did not, suggesting they acted more as repellents than contact killers. The study concludes that a combination of consumer and professional products may be needed to adequately control bed bug infestations in households.

The document discusses effective handwashing techniques to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It explains that the SARS-CoV-2 virus can spread through droplets from sneezes and coughs within 6 feet, or from touching infected surfaces. Vigorous handwashing with soap and water for 20 seconds is the best method to remove and destroy virus particles through physical removal and rupturing the virus membrane. Hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content can also be effective if handwashing is not available, but hands must be rubbed until dry. Regular cleaning of frequently touched surfaces is also recommended.
The spread of Covid-19 has spurred a surge in demand for disinfectants to keep the surfaces clean. But what do we know about how disinfectants deactivate Covid-19?
This document discusses proper handwashing techniques to prevent wound infections. It emphasizes that handwashing is essential before and after contact with patients to remove transient bacteria. Various handwashing agents are described with chlorhexidine gluconate and alcohol being most effective. Compliance can be improved with adequate facilities and education on the importance of hand hygiene.

Aiming better gsm controls a possible approachDevesh Singhal
The document discusses improving control of grammage (GSM) in paper machines by modifying the approach flow system. Currently, variations in GSM occur when the secondary screen reject valve opens only briefly. The document proposes removing the secondary screen and installing a screw pump with a variable frequency drive-controlled motor after the main screen to continuously throttle the reject flow at a low level. This proposed system could eliminate GSM variations and fluctuations in the cross-machine profile while also providing energy savings by removing the secondary screen and reducing throughput needs.
Stack height often surprises me. Can we consider cutting short stacks of factories to reduce pollution, as the polluter would be faced to get into self compliance, willingly or unwillingly. Think.

Can we provide some space for viruses in our lives? A different thought, indicating what can be done to to live happily without a fear of virus and let it live its life.
Delhi-NCR air is becoming more and more polluted. We need to find a solution, that too very fast. The present concept note presents such a simple idea to solve the pollution problem.
When environment protection causes problemsDevesh Singhal
What happens when an industry starts treating effluent to achieve better and better than mandated norms? This is done by additional energy, capital cost and thus creates undesirable problems.
This document provides a concise summary of paper and the paper industry for students. It discusses the history of paper and how the paper making process has modernized. It also summarizes key facts about the paper industry in India, including production levels, recycling rates, and environmental practices. The document aims to enhance students' knowledge about paper and debunk common misconceptions.
The document discusses voltage fluctuations that can cause electrical motors and appliances to trip. It describes how fluctuations can originate from the power supply or internal wiring issues. Methods are presented to identify weak neutrals, measure fluctuation magnitude, and reduce tripping, such as installing a supervisory neutral bus or changing control power phases. The goal is to better understand fluctuations and minimize their impacts on production.
The document discusses the issue of plastic pollution and proposes solutions. It notes that plastics are a major source of pollution as most are not recycled. While plastics are very prevalent in modern life, the key issue is plastic waste management rather than plastics themselves. The paper industry could help by recycling products like paper cups and tetra packs that contain a high percentage of paper along with some plastic. This would remove plastic waste from the environment by collecting it along with recycled paper. Mandating that laminated packaging contain at least 75% paper would enable efficient recycling and reduce plastic pollution.
The document discusses rethinking the use of approach flow screening on paper machines. It notes that removing centrifugal cleaners from approach flow 10 years ago resulted in dramatic energy savings, improved basis weight control, reduced web breaks by over 75%, better steam control, and increased yield. The document observes temporary 0.5-0.7 gsm reductions in basis weight from the timer-operated reject valve on the current pressure screen and slot screen system. It questions whether the electricity costs and basis weight control problems from the approach screen outweigh its benefits as a "security guard" and suggests starting to think about removing approach screens.
Can our cooking create pollution?
While you prepare your delicious food, fumes containing particulate matter are added to atmosphere. Probably that is the reason that pollution index is generally found more in densely populated areas.
This document discusses how hair care products are a major source of pollution that is often overlooked. It notes that the water and chemicals used in shampoos, conditioners, dyes, and other hair products exceed the pollution produced by most major industries when considered globally. The author argues that wearing hats more often could help reduce this pollution by decreasing the need for frequent hair washing and product use. Wearing a hat for a month is proposed as a task people should accept to help raise awareness of hair care's environmental impact and potential solutions like cutting one's hair short.
Have you faced problems of incorrect readings in displays, flickering of tubelights etc. Do you know, electrical pollution can be harmful for our lives also?
The document proposes a concept to help reduce smog levels in Delhi using controlled artificial rain. It suggests installing vertical conical tunnels equipped with fans, pipes with shower nozzles, and water collection tanks. The tunnels would suck in polluted air from the bottom, spray it with water droplets of different sizes to "wash" the particulates, and expel cleaner air from the top. Initial trials could be conducted near polluted areas to monitor effectiveness. The author believes cooling tower manufacturers could build these units, which would cost less than 2 lakhs each and treat 1 million cubic meters of air daily. Feedback on this approach is requested.

5-hydroxytryptamine or 5-HT or Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that serves a range of roles in the human body. It is sometimes referred to as the happy chemical since it promotes overall well-being and happiness.
It is mostly found in the brain, intestines, and blood platelets.
5-HT is utilised to transport messages between nerve cells, is known to be involved in smooth muscle contraction, and adds to overall well-being and pleasure, among other benefits. 5-HT regulates the body's sleep-wake cycles and internal clock by acting as a precursor to melatonin.
It is hypothesised to regulate hunger, emotions, motor, cognitive, and autonomic processes.
Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune DiseaseHealth Advances
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.
8 Surprising Reasons To Meditate 40 Minutes A Day That Can Change Your Life.pptxHolistified Wellness
We’re talking about Vedic Meditation, a form of meditation that has been around for at least 5,000 years. Back then, the people who lived in the Indus Valley, now known as India and Pakistan, practised meditation as a fundamental part of daily life. This knowledge that has given us yoga and Ayurveda, was known as Veda, hence the name Vedic. And though there are some written records, the practice has been passed down verbally from generation to generation.
10 Benefits an EPCR Software should Bring to EMS Organizations Traumasoft LLC
The benefits of an ePCR solution should extend to the whole EMS organization, not just certain groups of people or certain departments. It should provide more than just a form for entering and a database for storing information. It should also include a workflow of how information is communicated, used and stored across the entire organization.

A concept note on anti virus paper
1. A Concept Note on Anti-Virus Paper
Covid-19 has forced the whole world in defending role to same mankind. The best solution
is staying indoors, avoid getting in physical contact with anyone who is suffering from it,
washing hands frequently and maintaining good immune system of our body.
From what we know, the virus cannot be killed- it is already a non-living thing; but with
soap, it gets disintegrated and becomes ineffective to replicate itself even when a suitable
environment is available. That is why washing hand frequently with soap is being
considered a good way to protect ourselves.
It has been observed that the virus remains active on different surfaces for different time
before being dissipated. This time varies from 2-3 hours on paper, to 2-3 days on stainless
steel. That indicates that paper could be a good medium to fight this deadly virus.
The Concept:
As both paper and soap show us a way to fight against Covid-19, the proposed concept uses
the combination of both as a tool to check on spread of Covid-19. The idea is to coat the
paper with a thin layer of soap molecules. This paper can be further used as a contact
surface in place of conventional surfaces, wherever possible. As a carrier person (infected
with Covid-19) touches this paper, some of the virus is transferred to that paper, but due to
presence of soap molecules, these molecules might detach from paper and enter the Covid-
19 virus ultimately destroying the same.
This paper can be wrapped around handrails, used as a protective covering on handles,
door-knobs in the public areas etc. This paper might be printed with the replica of lift push-
buttons panel, and pasted over that, so that when anyone uses the lift, to press any floor
button this paper receives the virus from one person, which are destroyed before some
other person uses the lift panel. Needless to say, this sheet may be replaced every day or
so. The paper may also find application as table cover or a cover for the counter of your
favorite grocery shop. As the estimated soap in paper is not going to be high, disposal of the
same should not be an issue, and the same can be recycled easily.
Jean Perrin has estimated the size of soap molecule typically as 4.5 nanometer.
On the other hand, the size of Covid-19 virus has been estimated within 60-140 nanometer,
with most probable figure of 120 nanometer. Out of this, 80 nanometer is the spherical
envelope is 80 nanometer and the size of bulbous surface projections is 20 nanometers.
These sizes give a good starting point for the work. As per the initial calculations, a one
square meter flat surface of paper shall have around 5-10 square meter area to be covered
depending upon the surface properties (smoothness/roughness) of paper. To cover that
2. with a very thin soap film on paper, a mild coating of less than 0.01-0.10 gsm is more than
enough. We must also keep it in mind that theoretically, even a uni-molecular layer of soap
will have dozens of soap molecules that would come in direct contact to the virus, and the
final efficacy shall depend mainly on the soap-virus interactions.
Absence of water as a carrier might be an issue in the whole process, but, considering the
menace caused by the virus, we need to act fast.
Action Line:
A set of different papers typically including tissue paper (18-26 gsm), Poster Paper (40-60
gsm), copier Paper (55-75 gsm) shall be tried first. The papers shall be coated (except for
tissue) with the soap solution of various types of soap solutions to achieve coat weight of
0.01 gsm, 0.05gsm, 0.1 gsm and 0.2 gsm. For tissue paper, the soap solution may be sprayed
in form of fine mist so that it is uniformly spread onto it. The paper is dried, and coded
before testing for virus stability time on the surface.
Based on the results, suitable soap quality, soap weight can be optimized further.
