SwanbioTM offers a range of hygiene products that use BiomasterTM technology to inhibit bacterial growth on surfaces. The products include a laundry wash, fabric spray, clear lacquer, and hand moisturizer. They are intended for use in places like hospitals, nursing homes, hotels and food establishments to help reduce the spread of bacteria and viruses. and personal care
2. hygiene solutions for home, industry and personal care
Swanbio™ is a range of products for use both in industry and the home where the control of
hygiene and reduction of cross-infection potential is required.
Ideally suited to a wide range of applications were hygiene is important, including hospitals, care
homes, hotels, hospitality venues and catering establishments, the proven Biomaster™ technology
is safe and easy to use.
The product is NOT a disinfectant or cleaner. It is designed to offer surface protection. Once in
place it inhibits bacterial growth and therefore reduces the risk of cross contamination. It is
designed to be used in conjunction with existing cleaning regimes.
Biomaster™ technology is used across a wide
range of applications and materials including paint,
handrail coatings, pens and paper.

Stopping the spread of infection
Hospital acquired infections
Over recent years there has been an increasing concern over Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs).
These infections are caused by a wide range of bacteria. There is a particular concern about the
number of cases of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA). This is a strain of
Staphylococcus Aureus that has built up resistance to Methicillin – the strongest type of Penicillin
available. It has also been shown that bacteria such as MRSA can survive up to 38 weeks or even
longer on contaminated surfaces.
Food and hygiene
Bacteria are very easily spread from surface to surface by hand-contact and other methods. This is
particularly relevant to food-preparation areas where a large number of potentially lethal bacteria can
be present such as E.coli.
Across the healthcare, food and hygiene sectors,
antimicrobials are used to combat the growth of
fungi, yeasts and molds.

Biomaster™ technology
The active ingredient in Biomaster™ is silver, which has been used in its purest form for
many centuries to prevent the growth of bacteria.
We have incorporated this technology into the Swanneck pen.
The silver ions have three different modes of action that stop bacteria growing. They:
• Bind to the cell surface, disrupting the cell wall and preventing cell growth
• Prevent the bacteria from producing energy
• Interrupt cell DNA, preventing cell replication and new cell formation
The active silver is slowly released which means it
has maximum long, term effectiveness. Biomaster™
can also be processed at temperatures up to 600oC
without losing its antimicrobial properties.

including MRSA, Salmonella, E coli, VRE, Campylobacter and the virus
that causes winter vomiting, Noro Virus.
Ideal for chairs and furnishings in care homes, waiting rooms, wherever the
opportunity exists for cross contamination.
Sprayed evenly over soft furnishings, textiles, the liquid will dry within 15-20
minutes, leaving an antimicrobial residue in the fibres. One 1000ml trigger

Ideal cleaning regime
Laundry Wash
Simply add to the detergent at a rate of 10ml per kg of laundry when washing laundry. The
antibacterial agents will set to work immediately and most importantly will remain within the fabric of
the textiles between washes continually providing bacterial inhibition.
Clear Lacquer
Degrease and disinfect hard surface. Allow to dry. Then apply the lacquer with an even spray, from a
distance of around 20-30cm, as if applying a thin layer of paint. The lacquer will take approximately
20 minutes to dry. Once dry it forms an antibacterial coating that will remain in place between 3-6
months depending on amount of abrasive activity on the surface. Surface can be wiped using a
standard surface cleaner if required. Note the spray contains a propellant so ensure good ventilation
during application.
Fabric spray
Ensure surface is clean and dry before application. Spray evenly over the surface so the material
feels very slightly damp. Allow to dry, which will take approximately 15 minutes. The antibacterial
agent will then fix itself into the fabric and continually provide bacterial inhibition. Reapply every 3
months in medium to high traffic areas such as seating in waiting rooms etc. 3-6 months for low
traffic areas such as curtains. Not suitable for leather and vinyl surfaces.
