This study compared the physical characteristics and abilities of 50 young male volleyball players aged 16-18 (Group 1) to 16 professional male volleyball players aged 18-36 (Group 2). Measurements were taken of height, weight, flexibility, jumping ability, arm reach, speed, agility, and muscle endurance. Results showed the professional players on average were taller, heavier, had greater reach, jumping ability and muscle endurance. However, there were no significant differences found between the groups for many measurements. The differences seen were likely due to the professionals having been selected during growth years and having greater physical preparation and experience.
