Tim is the project manager for a team developing a hospital patient data transfer system to improve efficiency. The system would allow medical staff to more quickly access patient data across Australia's approximately 1,400 public hospitals, which are currently connected via manual runners. Potential benefits include saving lives by reducing time spent transferring data and increasing convenience for patients and staff. Key risks include security, system failures or hacks, and loss of data, though regular backups and alternative temporary manual processes could mitigate these risks. User training and testing will help ensure quality.
ARRA & EMR Usability: What Providers Need to KnowJeffery Belden
What if US healthcare providers dramatically adopted EMRs in increasing numbers, worked hard to achieve meaningful use, but never benefited financially or in efficiency or quality?
Meaningful use will be dependent on adequate EMR usability. Discover how usability relates to a number of meaningful use criteria. We offer a usability checklist to assist providers in shopping for a new EMR, or to use during implementation of an existing EMR, in order to achieve efficiency, effectiveness, and usefulness.

The document discusses the physician voice in adopting new technologies like electronic medical records (EMRs). It notes that the physician voice has both an external role advocating for patients and an inner role considering personal impacts. Successful adoption requires addressing physician concerns about privacy, workload, and local needs through collaboration between physicians and other stakeholders. It outlines models used in Vancouver Coastal Health to engage physicians through user groups and champions to provide feedback and guide implementation.
This document provides an overview of hospital management systems and the benefits of web-based systems. It discusses that web-based systems allow for simultaneous access to data from various points and integration of all parties. The document then reviews characteristics of web-based systems like multiple autonomous components and points of control/failure. Benefits of a hospital management web-based system include improved patient care through increased access to records, improved cost control through standardized processes, and increased security of patient information.
IRJET- A System for Complete Healthcare Management: Ask-Us-Health A Secon...IRJET Journal
This document proposes a system called ASK-US-HEALTH that uses machine learning algorithms and data mining to provide healthcare management. It aims to help patients access a second medical opinion by entering symptoms and receiving the probable diagnosis. It would also provide doctor recommendations and store patient medical histories and prescriptions. The system intends to improve healthcare access and help manage patient care and data for research through connecting patients, doctors, and nearby pharmacies via a web application.

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune DiseaseHealth Advances
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.
