Type A personalities are characterized as workaholics who are always busy, impatient, and constantly competing for success. Type B personalities are more laid back and easygoing. The study hypothesized that Type A personalities would be more depressed than Type B personalities due to factors like daily hassles and a need for control. However, the results of surveying 50 undergraduate students found no significant difference in depression levels or GPA between personality types. More research is still needed to fully understand the relationship between Type A and Type B personalities and depression risk.
