This week in 9th grade English class, students will discuss the writer's claim, persuasive strategies used, and effectiveness of those strategies. They will then revisit the "Am I Persuaded" performance task. For the task, students will analyze two to three persuasive messages on the same topic, identifying the claim, strategies, and irrelevant evidence. They will provide suggestions to improve persuasiveness and write a summary concluding which message was most effective.
