Tobernalt Holy Well - Current Works
The repairs and general maintains at the Holy Well are for the following
reasons. Please inform yourself and others on the facts as outlines.
1. A tree was in a dangerous condition at the bottom of the Holy Well next the road
and had to be removed for safety reasons, along with a smaller tree which was
entangled in it. Replanting will take place in due course.
2. Part of the wall at the entrance to the Holy Well had to be removed as it was in a
dangerous condition due to the growth of a tree. This wall will be rebuilt allowing the
tree more room to grow.
3. The wall beside the road had fallen into disrepair over the years. Stones were looses
and dangerous for visitors to the Holy Well. This wall will be rebuilt using old
limestone. The finished wall will give a more defined boundary to the Holy Well. it
will also be a low rise wall which will not obstruct the view into the Holy Well. Also
none of the current entrances into the Holy Well will be obstructed.
All of the work as outlines will be completed in the coming weeks. Overall this work
will continue to make sure that the Holy Well is a safe place for all visitors throughout
the year.
