This document proposes that 3GPP consider addressing vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication in Release 14 to support a variety of use cases. V2X includes vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure, vehicle-to-pedestrian, and vehicle-to-home communication. It discusses how 3GPP proximity services and infrastructure could enhance dedicated short-range communications to meet more V2X use cases. Example use cases described are low-latency safety applications, higher-latency safety and mobility applications, using vehicles as mobile small cells, using common spectrum for V2X, and accessing local services. The document concludes by proposing that SA1 consider V2X as a work item for
This document analyzes the coverage performance of LTE-M Category-M1 technology through link layer simulations. The key findings are:
1) LTE-M can provide a coverage gain of 21 dB, exceeding the 3GPP target of 18 dB. This corresponds to data rates of 1400 bps downlink and 250 bps uplink.
2) Assuming a UE power class of 23 dBm and less conservative noise figures, LTE-M can support a maximum coupling loss of 164 dB.
3) LTE-M is a versatile technology that can support both high data rates/mobility in typical coverage scenarios as well as deep coverage scenarios with lower data rates and latency requirements.
What is V2X? The term covers a range of technology, actually, such as:
- Vehicle to vehicle communications
- Vehicle to infrastructure communications
- Vehicle to pedestrian communications
And much more. Learn about the technology at play and what challenges implementers face in this presentation.

This document discusses the potential for Low Power Wide Area Network (LP-WAN) technologies to connect Internet of Things devices to the Internet. It outlines how LP-WAN uses low-power wireless networks to connect objects over long ranges at low cost. The document argues that integrating LP-WAN with the Internet could provide scalable, secure infrastructure and allow for the development of new IoT applications. It presents examples of using LP-WAN networks and the Internet to enable smart city applications like pollution or energy monitoring. Standardization efforts aim to merge LP-WAN and Internet technologies to realize the full potential of the IoT.

LTE-U/LAA, MuLTEfire™ and Wi-Fi; making best use of unlicensed spectrumQualcomm Research
LTE-U and LAA technologies allow LTE networks to opportunistically use unlicensed 5 GHz spectrum for small cell deployments to provide additional capacity. Aggregating LTE in both licensed and unlicensed spectrum provides the best performance. Multiple technologies, including LTE-U, LAA, MuLTEfire and Wi-Fi will coexist in the unlicensed spectrum to support all use cases and deployment scenarios.
Introducing new Cellular V2X technologies, designed to connect vehicles to each other (V2V), to pedestrians (V2P), to roadway infrastructure (V2I), to the network (V2N) — to basically everything (V2X).
1) Qualcomm is leading the development of 5G mobile technology through advancements in LTE, including LTE Advanced Pro.
2) LTE Advanced Pro enhances LTE capabilities through features like carrier aggregation across wider bandwidths, use of licensed and unlicensed spectrum, advanced antenna techniques, and lower latency.
3) These enhancements help deliver gigabit speeds, increase network capacity and efficiency, enable new IoT use cases, and progress LTE capabilities towards 5G standards.
Full immersion is achieved by simultaneously focusing on the broader dimensions of visual quality, sound quality, and intuitive interactions. This presentation discusses how:
- Technology improvements continue to drive more immersive experiences, especially for VR and AR
- High Dynamic Range (HDR) will enhance the visual quality on all our screens
- Scene-based audio is a new paradigm for 3D audio
- Natural user interfaces like voice, gestures, and eye tracking are making interactions more intuitive

The document discusses 4G LTE drive testing. It describes the necessary equipment for drive testing including a notebook, GPS, and LTE dongle. It outlines key LTE radio parameters that are measured like PCI, RSRP, SINR, and MIMO. It also discusses measuring UE state information, throughput, and LTE access procedures including attach requests, random access failures, and E-RAB failures. Finally, it compares the impact of ANR capabilities versus UE capabilities on measuring neighboring cells within and between eNodeBs.
Lte drivetest guideline with genex probeRay KHASTUR
1. Drive testing involves collecting radio frequency data through a test device to evaluate network coverage and quality of service parameters.
2. Major LTE key performance indicators measured include accessibility, retainability, mobility, and integrity. Key parameters measured are RSRP, SINR, and throughput.
3. To perform an effective drive test, the tester must understand parameter definitions, avoid duplicate routes, analyze events like call drops, and strategically test throughput in stable conditions.
The document discusses various LTE measurement parameters and procedures including:
1. The eNB reports a list of detected PRACH preambles and measures timing advance, average RSSI, average SINR, UL CSI, and transport BLER for RRM purposes.
2. UE measurements include CQI, RSRP, and RSRQ while eNB measurements include timing advance, RSSI, SINR, UL CSI, detected preambles, and transport BLER. Inter-RAT measurements are also discussed.
3. Examples of RSRP, RSRQ, and timing advance procedures are provided along with CQI measurement details. PLMN selection, cell selection,

Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) is introduced in 3GPP release 13 as part of LTE Advanced Pro. It uses carrier aggregation in the downlink to combine LTE in unlicensed spectrum (5 GHz) with LTE in the licensed band.
This document outlines the process of cellular network planning and optimization. It discusses collecting radio network data through drive testing, analyzing network performance, and proposing solutions to issues or meet key performance indicators. The objectives of optimization are finding and correcting problems, meeting contract quality criteria, and iterative improvement of overall network quality without degrading other areas. Methodologies proposed include problem analysis, drive testing, simulation, and exporting data to map software to identify solutions.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
