2. The equipment: Sony Bloggie
Pros:
- Small and convenient (slim and light (125g and 15.2mm))
- Full HD video (1920x1080p) resolution with sound.
- 12.8 megapixel – Exmor CMOS Sensor captures clear, high quality still photos.
- Easy operation with separate ‘movie’ and ‘photo’ buttons and intuitive touchsrceen interface.
Cons:
- Video quality not as professional as the DSLR cameras.
- Not many advanced settings such as setting the contrast, brightness and not able to add effect.
- The sound quality is quite poor, may not capture the important bits.

3. Nikon D5100
Pros:
- Great quality image (16.2 MP) captures moments in full HD
1080p.
- Flexible shooting with the 3.0” 921k dot vari-angle LCD
Monitor – easy to see from many angles without having to
move the actual camera lens.
- Has many professional affects, allows to adjust the contrast,
lighting and exposure. 7 unique special effects modes can be
applied to both stills and movies.
- 11-point autofocus. Lens allows to zoom in and out of the
action letting us create the best shots possible.
Cons:
- Very short battery life – around 2 hours max. Prevented us
from being able to do more scenes, wasted time and may
have died in the middle of an important scene.
- The memory card only had 16GB which meant we had to
delete work that wasn’t as important but then we got a spare
memory card.
- Quite large, meaning can be uncomfortable to carry around
especially because we filmed in a park so we had to walk to
our destination of filming.
- Expensive to replace – can break easily and can be stolen.
- Complicated to use at times.

4. Tripod vs. Monopod
Pros:
- Hama star 61 tripod – cheap, lightweight tripod, practical to use as easy to get off the site, it also
secured the camera on top well and kept it in place so we didn’t have to hold it and created
straight scenes without the shaking of hands etc.
- Manfrotto MM294A4 294 Aluminium Monopod – lightweight, allowed us a variety of movement
for the camera, also secured the camera well on top, easier to get into smaller places.
Cons:
- The handle for the tripod was sometimes very stiff which prevented us from having smooth
movement .
- The monopod only had one leg which meant we always had to hold.

5. Directional Microphone: Hama RMZ –
16 Zoom Directional microphone
Pros:
- Compatible with camcorders, SLR camera and
system cameras with stereo microphone input
3.5mm. This allowed us to connect the microphone
to most of our devices so was very convenient.
- Clear, high quality sound for video. Picked up the
sound better than a DSLR.
- Normal sensitivity of – 50 dB +1-5dB and zoom
sensitivity of -46 dB + 1-5dB.
Cons:
- Had to be further away from the characters so it
didn’t go into the shot, which prevented from
getting the best sound quality.
- Inconvenient as had to carry it everywhere and
takes up a lot of space.

6. Olympus Audio Recorder
Pros:
- MP3 format, easy to put on other devices and online services.
- High-speed USB connection – quick connectivity allowed the work to get finished quicker.
- 46GB of built in memory – can record as much as you want.
- Low cut filter for noise reduction whilst recording, blocking out the harsher sounds of vehicles etc.
- ME-52 plugs directly into digital recorder 3.5mm microphone jack for uni-directional recording in
high noise environment.
Cons:
- The battery life is short and it can also be inconvenient as its used with batteries so if there were no
spare ones we could not be able to use it.

7. Main Lights: Strobe lights

8. Computer
Pros:
- The most important item through the process –
this allowed us to edit our videos, blogs, gave
us access to the internet to the further research
into zombie films, and other services such as
powerpoint, word, youtube and prezi.
- A lot of memory so was able to store all of our
information.
- Everything was in one place very convenient.
Cons:
- Can’t carry it around with us so can’t always
have access to our stuff.
- Crashed a couple of times e.g. the adobe
premiere which made us lose important work
and had to start over which wasted time.
- Can be slow connection at times on the internet
or no access at all which also prevented us
from doing extra work.

Able to see how
our product looked
at each stage, we
could zoom in and
see if anything
need to be

The timeline is where we edited the clips,
cutting them, matching the music and see
the time that it has taken. This allowed
me to get the jump cuts perfected.
Easy to import HD clips and has a
dropped down of over 50 effects
and transitions making our work
much more professional and
detailed.

10. Prezi/Slideshare
Pros:
- I used this as one of my evaluation methods and also planning and research which gave a
variety of internet resources used.
- Can choose from a wide variety of designs giving a more unique presentation on my blog.
- I learned to create interesting slideshows without much difficulty, very smooth transitions and
easy to work.
- Video clips can be added to give more information.
Cons:
- I was not able to add Gif’s to it which prevented me from being able to explain what I was writing
in more detail.
- Can be confusing to use at times, and cannot put it straight onto my blog only the link to my prezi
presentation.

11. YouTube
Pros:
- I used this service to upload all of our media
videos and my preliminary task.
- Very easy to upload and access anywhere
anytime.
- The uploads were considerably fast and with
very few glitches.
- Able to put onto my blog by copying and
pasting the URL.
Cons:
- Sometimes it took up to 3 hours to upload a video
which wasted time.

12. WordPress
- Has a wide variety of themes to chose from to make your blog interesting and personal.
- You can add a banner on the top.
- Uploads images, videos, PowerPoint's etc.
- Easy to use and work, very straight forward which is a positive because when you need to
upload something quickly its easy to access and very quick.
- Allowed me to record the stages of my planning and research, production, post-production and
evaluation.

13. Photoshop
Pros:
- Many tools and options that allowed me to create a poster for the opening scene.
- Many effects available e.g. changing the brightness, contrast, undertones, colour, shadows.
- Easy to add writing and other images.
Cons:
- Can get complicated and difficult to use.
