5. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• Open to all Year 4 – Year 6 pupils from government-
aided schools.
• The competition is divided into two sections:
Section 1 :Prepared - any story
Section 2 : Impromptu - (state & national level
only)
• Props, backdrops and sound effects are not allowed. Any
use of these will allow for disqualification by the judges.
• Time allocated to present the story is 4 to 5 minutes.
• The performance should be recorded and saved in MP4
/ 3GP / AVI / MOV / WMV format.

6. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• For Section 2, contestants are to observe the following
rules:
• Impromptu section will be conducted via video tele-
conferencing between the contestant, the panel of
judges and the timekeeper. (state & national level only)
• Contestants tell their story based on the phrase given.
• 30 seconds are given as prep time.
• Time allocated to present the impromptu story is 2 to 3
minutes.
• The bell will be rung at the 3rd minute. Marks will be
deducted thereafter.

8. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• This competition is open to pupils of government-
aided schools from Year 4 to Year 6 only. Year 3
pupils are allowed to participate if they are from
under enrolled schools.
• The competition is divided into two sections, as
follows:
Section 1 : Prepared Speech – any topic
Section 2 : Impromptu Speech (for state and
national levels only)

9. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• For Section 1 (Prepared Speech), contestants are to
observe the following rules:
• Primary school contestants will deliver a prepared speech
on a topic of their choice for 4 to 6 minutes.
• The performance should be recorded and saved in MP4
/ 3GP / AVI / MOV / WMV format.
• For Section 2 (Impromptu Speech), contestants are to
observe the following rules:
• Impromptu section will be conducted via video tele-
conferencing between the contestant, the panel of
judges and the timekeeper. (state & national level only)

10. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• Contestants are given a topic 4 minutes before they
are due to present the speech.
• All contestants speak on the same topic.
• The time allocated for the impromptu speech is 3
minutes.
• A warning bell will be sounded at the 2nd minute
and a final bell at the 3rd minute. Marks will be
deducted thereafter.

12. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• This competition is open to pupils of government-
aided primary schools from Year 4 to Year 6 only.
Year 3 pupils are allowed to participate if they are
from under enrolled schools.
• Only ONE pupil can represent his/her school.
• Time limit (for Primary level) - of not less than 4
minutes and not more than 6 minutes.
• The poem must be entirely authentic and original
and must never have been published or have won a
prize in any other competition prior to this
competition. The text of the poem will be based on
themes decided by the organisers.

13. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• The theme for year 2021 is ‘If I may…’.
• *NOTES:
“Theme is the lesson about life or statement about
human nature that the poem expresses. To determine
theme, start by figuring out the main idea. Then keep
looking around the poem for details such as the
structure, sounds, word choice, and any poetic
devices.”
• So, the phrase “If I may…” is the general theme of the poem. It
may / may not be literally in the title of the poem penned.

14. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• 3 copies of the poem must be submitted to the
organiser two weeks prior to the competition.
• Written poetry must be typed on an A4 paper (Times
New Roman / Arial, font size 12)
• Participants should be in formal school uniform when
competing.
• Participants are not allowed to refer to any notes or
printed materials during the presentation. The poem
must be recited as it appears on the judge’s copy.

15. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• Participants must start the recitation by mentioning
the title and the writer of the poem.
• There should be no inclusion of singing, music, props
or artificial sound effects.
• A theatrical performance of the poem is not allowed.
• The performance should be recorded and saved in
MP4 / 3GP / AVI / MOV / WMV format.

17. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• This competition is open to all primary school pupils
from government-aided schools.
• Year 4 – Year 6 pupils.

• The theme given is for the use at district and state
levels only. For national level, a new theme will be
given 2 weeks prior to the competition.
• Participants are allowed to submit ONLY one poem.

25. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• This competition is open to pupils of government-
aided primary schools from Year 4 to Year 6 only.
Year 3 pupils are allowed to participate if they are
from under enrolled schools.
• Each team comprises a maximum of 10 participants
(including the technical crew: stage manager,
technical coordinator, set and prop assistant,
prompter) and two teachers-in-charge.
• Team members must be from the same school.
• The duration of performance is limited to 7-10
minutes.
SKETCH COMPETITION (PRIMARY)
26. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
• Participating teams are encouraged to produce their
own scripts. Scripts or translated scripts of
established plays must be adapted and cited.
• Sketch scripts must include synopses and cast lists
and be typed using Font 12 Times New Roman on A4
paper.
• Themes reflecting positive messages and values
should be predominant.
• The use of sets and props should be minimised.
• Virtual props / Computer Generated Images (CGI)
are not allowed.
SKETCH COMPETITION (PRIMARY)
27. RULES AND REGULATIONS:
Recording and Submission:
• The actors must be recorded separately and merged for
the final video. Face to face interaction is prohibited as
per SOP given by MOE.
• The submitted recording must be in landscape.
• Usage of DSLR or Video Cameras to shoot the video is
encouraged. Videos shot must be at least of HD Quality
at 1080px780p resolution.
• No subtitles should be added to the video by any means.
• Videos should be uploaded on YouTube and set as
unlisted. Link to the video will be submitted to the
organiser via suitable means. (i.e. Google Form)
