MAVEN successfully reached Mars after a 10 month, 442 million mile journey from Earth. It has now entered orbit around Mars and will study the planet's upper atmosphere to help scientists understand what happened to Mars's water and support future manned missions to Mars planned for the 2030s. Currently, MAVEN is one of four spacecraft orbiting Mars, collecting atmospheric data to reveal clues about the planet's climate history.
