■ What did you like about the product?
– Book Covers: Good use of iconography. There is a clear theme running throughout the three covers that
makes it easy to connect as a series. It was nice to see which book was in which order and the font seemed to
suit the theme of the books. The cover for the Red Sands book was, however, not to the same standard as the
rest and looked a bit rushed.
– Promo Sheet for Audiobook. Clear concise and well laid out. I would have just said available in audiobook; it's
obvious that it's a different format to a printed book. Maybe a bit of blurb like you would have on the back
cover of a book would have brought the reader/listener into the book.
– Audiobook Clip: Well written and narrative although the narrator's accent was inconsistent. It might have
been better to just have read it in a natural accent. The opening was a nice hook into the book and there was
sufficient indication of a back story that made the main character interesting. The description of the injuries
on the victim were enough to spark the imagination without being to 'in your face'. The use of sound effects
added an additional dimension to the book that is often missing in other and I thought that the fading out
and in of the background noise in the Cafe scene was particularly effective; it gave the elder an 'other-wordly'
aspect. I would be really keen to listen to the rest of the story
■ What improvements could have been made to the product?
– Lose the accent; it was a bit jarring at times and veered from American to Australian with a bit of cockney
thrown in.
– Review and amend the cover for Red Sands; it looks a bit amateurish compared to the others.
– A bit of blurb on the audiobook promo to hook the reader/listener?

■ What did you like about the product?
– I was particularly impressed by the striking visual graphics of the book cover.
Although the text font was more challenging to read than a plain font, the font used
was interesting enough to grab my attention. The images used also heightened my
interest in this product wanting to know more about Detective Harper and the story.
Having listened to the audio file, I was delighted by the high quality of the story and
the use of language to describe it. I felt the images used on the book cover
complemented the written story - the image on “Wild Dog” left me feeling intrigued,
could this be Harper or was it the native American or was it the mythical creature? The
image on the the front of “Pommegranite Seeds” corresponded to the description of
Harper in the audio file.
■ What improvements could have been made to the product?
– I wasn’t sure whether the spelling of Pommegranite rather than Pomegranate was
deliberate or not. Either way, the spelling and the title was intriguing to me. I would
possibly consider using a slightly easier to read font but only if this was just as eye-
catching.Overall, I was very impressed.

■ What did you like about the product?
– I found the audio narrative intriguing, exceptionally descriptive
and drew me in to a world of potentially gory drama.The audio
wildlife sounds in the back ground were genius leading you to
believe you were out in the open whilst listening. Something I
would happily buy and listen to.The poster gave all three covers
of the books making identifying the next in the series really easy
for the purchaser instead of searching just by title.
■ What improvements could have been made to the product?
– From a non-artistic person, I can offer nothing to improve the
product as it is currently. Although perhaps the almost singular
colour tones could be improved with the addition of the odd
colour splash in parts.

■ What did you like about the product?
– The book cover designs are unique and therefore stand out.
– I like the fact the cover told you which one in the series you are looking at, I hate reading a
book only to discover it is number 3 in the series.
– The audio set the right atmosphere with the music at the beginning, you knew straight away
it was likely to be a detective story.
– Once I had listened to the audio I could see the link between it and the book one cover, as the
audio referred to local native people and the book cover for book one reflected that.
– The sound effects on the audio made it clear that the Detective Harper was outside at the
beginning, the birds and animal sounds were very good.
■ What improvements could have been made to the product?
– Whilst I liked the book cover pictures and the information it contained I wasn’t overly keen on
the font used. I think it distracted from the artwork.
– The audio moved from the outside to the inside but it took me a minute to realise it, there was
the use of what I assume was a shop doorbell but it came slightly after the narrative of
Detective Harper going inside.There just needed to be a clearer audio signal that Detective
Harper was moving locations.

■ What did you like about the product?
– There is good atmospheric music at the beginning of the audio and the
sound effects add depth to the presentation.
– The style of narration complements the ‘noir’ style of writing.The
description is detailed and gives a good picture of what’s going on
whilst maintaining a natural flow.
– The narrator and author managed to get different voices for the
different characters which will aid the listener reader in following the
story as it developed.
– The graphics are eye catching the book cover would make me pick up
the book. It reminded me of a shooting range target.
■ What improvements could have been made to the product?
– I wondered if having a narrator with a Canadian accent would have
enhanced the presentation - shades of Phillip Marlow. Probably not as
it was well done anyway.
