This document summarizes a research article about the relationship between gut microbiota and neurotransmitters in anxiety and depression. The study reviewed evidence that changes in gut microbiota composition are related to mental health conditions. It focused on studies of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine neurotransmission in the brains of stress-related rodent models. The results supported that brain neurotransmitter modulation is linked to anxiety and depression through gut microbiota. However, more research is needed to understand how gut microbiota impacts human neurotransmission and potential applications for therapy.
