This document provides instructions for completing Form 4, the Application for Extension of Time to File Michigan Tax Returns. It outlines the following key points:
1) An extension of time to file is not an extension of time to pay. Any tax due must be paid by the original due date or penalty and interest will be charged.
2) For the Michigan Business Tax, taxpayers must file for an extension even if the IRS granted a federal extension. Filing a proper extension request will extend the due date to the last day of the 8th month past the original due date.
