3. WHAT IS IT?
 The generation of energy from ambient
movement/vibrations is known as the Piezo-
electric Energy generation.
 It’s a Micro scale process means that energy
generated is very small.
 It uses a peizo-electric material to convert
mechanical pressure into electric energy
which can be amplified for using.

4. HISTORY:-
 Piezoelectricity was discovered by Curie
Brothers in 1880.
 Jacques Curie Pierre Curie

5. MEANING OF PIEZOELECTRICITY:-
 Piezoelectric means “Pressure Electricity”-the
generation of electricity by the application of
pressure.
 Piezoelectricity is observed if mechanical
stress is applied to a solid by bending,
twisting or squeezing.

 Quartz is the second most commonly
available piezoelectric material.

8. HOW PIEZOELECRIC MATERIALS
WORKS:-
 Under normal conditions the charges in a
piezoelectric material are balanced even if the
material is not symmetrically arranged.
 The opposite charges cancel each other
leaving no net charge on the crystal.

9. HOW PIEZOELECRIC MATERIALS
WORKS:-
 If a mechanical stress is applied on the crystal
surface the charges no longer cancels each
other and there will be a net positive or
negative charge on the crystal.A voltage will
be produced on the crystal surface across it’s
opposite faces and that’s known as
PIEZOELECTRICITY.

 By the application of the mechanical pressure
we forces the charges out of balance.

 Crystals are prone to damage due to
