INTRODUCTION
In this topic we are generating electrical power as
non conventional method by simply walking on
footstep
Walking is the most common activity in human life.
When a person walks, he loses energy to the road
This energy can be tapped and converted in the
usable form such as in electrical form.
The piezoelectric effect was discovered in 1880. by
two French physicists brothers Pierre and Paul.
They took the name from the Greek word piezo,
which means "to press."
Conventional & Non-conventional Energy
Sources
Energy proced by coal, petroleum, natural
gas etc. are called conventional sources.
where as the sources like biomass, wind,
solar etc. are called non conventional energy
sources.
AN ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCE
The Challenge: convert
footstep energy to
electrical energy.
The Solution: using
piezoelectric material.
PIEZOELECTRIC SENSOR
A piezoelectric sensor is a device that uses the Piezoelectric
effect to measure pressure, acceleration, force by converting
them to an electrical signal
PIEZOELECTRIC EFFECT
Piezoelectric Effect is the
ability of certain materials to
generate an electric charge in
response to applied mechanical
stress .

PIC MICROCONTOLLER
PIC Microcontroller is the very smallest
microcontroller in the world that can be designed to
carry out a huge range of tasks.
 These microcontrollers are in electronic devices
such as phones, c, etc.omputer, and Embedded
Operating System etc. Also, the features of these
microcontrollers are RAM, CCP, SSP, LCD, and
ICSP(PERIPHEREL INTER PHASE
CONTROLLER)
PIC
UART
A UART (Universal Asynchronous
Receiver/Transmitter) is the microchip with
programming that controls a computer's interface to
its attached serial devices.
A UART is usually an individual (or part of an)
integrated circuit (IC) used for serial
communications over a computer or peripheral
device serial port.
IMAGE OF UART
WORKING
The main working criteria for this project is the piezoelectric effect
which is achieved by using piezoelectric sensors that develop
electrical energy by converting applied pressure.
The source of the pressure can be from the weight of the people
walking over it.
The output obtained from piezoelectric material is not stable. Hence
PIC microcontroller is used to convert this variable voltage into
steady one.
This generated voltage is applied to the unidirectional current
controller circuit in order to avoid current flow in the opposite
direction.
The rechargeable batteries are used to store the output dc voltage.
An inverter is connected to a battery to provide provision to
connect the ac load.
APPLICATIONS
Foot step generated power can be used for agricultural,
home applications, street-lighting.
Foot step power generation can be used in emergency
power failure situations.
Metros, Rural Applications etc.
Applicable for places like railway station,foot path..etc
ADVANTAGES
Power generation is simply walking on step.
No need fuel input.
This is a Non-conventional system.
No moving parts - long service life.
Self-generating - no external power required.
Compact yet highly sensitive
DISADVANTAGE
 1. Only applicable for the particular place
 2.Initial cost of this arrangement is high Output
 3.affected by temperature variation
 4.Care should be taken for batteries
CONCLUSION
1. The project “ POWER GENERATION USING
FOOT STEP “ is successfully tested and implemented
which the best economical , affordable energy
solution to common people .
2. This can be used for many applications in rural
areas where power availability is less or totally
absence As India is a developing country where
energy management is a big challenge for huge
population . By using this project we can drive both
A.C. As well as D.C loads according to the force we
applied on the piezo electric sensor .
