In this topic we are Generating Electric Power as non
Conventional method by simple walking on Footstep.
Non Conventional energy using footstep is
converting Mechanical Energy into Electrical Energy.
This energy can be tapped and converted in the
usable form such as in electric form.
Basic Principle behind this system is Piezoelectric
Effect.

 They took the name from the Greek word Piezo, which means
“to press”.
 Certain material have the ability to build up an electric charge
from having pressure and strain applied to them.
 Piezoelectric refers to the ability of some materials to generate
an electric potential in response to applied pressure such
materials are called Piezoelectric Material
Egg: Quartz
Belemnite
Gallium orthophosphate
Tourmaline

o The piezoelectric material converts the pressure
applied to it in to electrical energy.
o The source of pressure can be either from the
weight of the moving vehicles or from the weight of the
people walking over it.
o Again an AC ripple filter is used to filter out any
further fluctuation in the output.
o The output DC Voltage is then stored in a
rechargeable battery.
o The inverter is converts the DC into AC.

o Footstep power generation can be used in emergency power
failure situations.
o It can be used for Agricultural , Home applications, Street
lighting and etc….
o Metros and Rural application.
o In Bus stand , Car parking System , Airports , Electronic
Escalators , government hospitals , Clubs , School and Colleges,
Foot path , Shopping Malls.
