1) A boy with a bad temper is given nails by his father to hammer into a fence each time he loses his temper. Over time, the boy loses his temper less as it is easier to hold his temper than create holes in the fence that will never be repaired.
2) A guy with a terminal illness falls in love at first sight with a girl at a music store. Each time he visits, he leaves his number for her but dies before they can meet. His mother finds many unopened CDs from the store, each containing a love note from the girl.

MH Group Communications published a new white paper on a profound shift we have observed in the social media environment – a shift that we believe will compel companies to get off of the fence and engage social media with a comprehensive strategy.
We have labeled this new dynamic “asymmetric communications,” because we believe that it completely upends the traditional online communications model and allows individuals outside the company to use the company’s own web presence as a platform to broadcast their own views to the world, with or without the company’s approval.
A short summary of what you will find in the white paper:
Until now, many companies have ignored social media without suffering obvious consequences. No more. We have entered the era of asymmetric social media, and there isn’t a place on the web where your company can escape it.
Your online media coverage and advertising, your search engine results, and even your company’s own website are about to be overtaken by social media in a way you cannot stop, slow down, or control.
The Old Paradigm – “Opt-In” Social Media
* Social media platforms cross -communicated only manually and with some effort and difficulty.
* Brands can ignore social media, or dabbling in a few areas of social media with a piecemeal strategy.
* To see social media content you had to participate in social media platforms Even if some of your customers were talking about your company on social media platforms
The New Paradigm – Asymmetric Social Media
* Audiences have social media pushed to them automatically everywhere they go online. Your online media coverage and advertising, your search engine results, and even your company’s own website, are about to be overtaken by social media in a way, you cannot stop, slow down, or control.
* In every place that your brand is on the web, social media will there as well providing feedback and offering praise and criticism, and seeking a response.
The three dynamics driving the era of asymmetric social media are:
* Integration: Content flows easily across different social media platforms
* Aggregation: Multi-platform content is consolidated online for easy consumption
* Annexation: New tools allow un-controlled social media communication ON YOUR COMPANY WEBSITE.
What Companies Can Do To Prepare
Your company’s only hope of survival is to build a community of active online supporters who will lend credibility and authenticity to your brand on the Web, and defend your brand against negative attacks.
We hope that this paper will be helpful to executives who are trying to convince their superiors of the need to embrace social media. What do you think of the “asymmetric communications” trend? Are there other developments you would add as indicators of a shifting social media environment?

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
3. Once upon a time, there was an
island where all the feelings lived:
Happiness, Sadness, and all of the
others including Love.
4. One day it was announced to the
feelings that the island would sink,
so all repaired their boats and left.
5. Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to
persevere until the last possible moment. When the
island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for help.
6. Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love
said, "Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness
answered, "No I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver
in my boat. There is no place for you here."
7. Love decided to ask Vanity, who was also passing by in
a beautiful vessel, "Vanity, please help me!" "I can't
help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my
boat," Vanity answered.
8. Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, "Sadness
let me go with you." "Oh...Love, I am so sad that I need
to be by myself!"
9. Happiness passed by Love too, but she was so happy
that she did not even hear when Love called her!
10. Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come Love, I will take you." It was an
elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that he even forgot to ask the
elder her name. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own
way. Love realizing how much he owed the elder, asked Knowledge,
another elder, "Who helped me?"
11. "It was Time", Knowledge
answered.
"Time?" asked Love. "But why
did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep
wisdom and answered,
"Because only Time is
capable of understanding
how great Love is."
13. There was a little boy with
a bad temper. His father
gave him a bag of nails and
told him that every time he
lost his temper, to hammer
a nail in the back fence.
14. The first day the boy had
driven 37 nails into the
fence. Then it gradually
dwindled down. He
discovered it was easier
to hold his temper than
to drive those nails into
the fence.
15. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said,
"You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The
fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a
scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out.
16. Moral : It won't matter how
many times you say I'm sorry,
the wound is still there. A
verbal wound is as bad as a
physical one."
18. There was a guy that was born with
cancer. A cancer that has no known
cure. He was 17 years old and could
die at any moment. He was always
at home, under his mother's care.
19. One day he decided to go out, even if it was just once. He asked
his mother for permission and she agreed. Walking down his
block he saw many stores. Stopping at a music store he looked
in and saw a very pretty girl of his own age, it was love at first
sight and he walked in. He walked up to the counter were the
girl was. She smiled at him and asked "Can I help you with
anything?"
20. The guy could only think that it
was the most beautiful smile he
had ever seen and stuttered,
"Well, ummm, I'd like to buy a... ".
He grabbed the first one he saw
and gave her the money.
21. One day the guy set out for
the store with a determined
mind, he bought a CD and
the girl wrapped it as usual.
While she was busy he left his
telephone on the counter
and rushed out of the store.
22. The following day the guy
didn't visit the store, and the
girl called him. His mother
answered the phone,
wondering who it could be.
It was the girl from the music
store! She asked to speak
with her son and his mother
started crying. The girl asked
her what was the matter.
"Don't you know? He died
yesterday." There was a long
silence on the phone.
23. Later that afternoon the guy's mother entered his room to remember her
son. She decided to start with his closet, and to her surprised she saw a
big pile of unopened CDs wrapped in festive paper. She was curious
because there were so many of them, and she opened one. As she tore
open the package she noticed a slip of paper that said:
"Hi! You're cute, I would love to meet you. Let's go out some time. Sophie"
The mother started crying as she opened another, and another, and
another. Every single CD contained a slip of paper that said the same.
24. Moral: That's the way life is, don't
wait to show those special people
the way you feel, tomorrow could
be too late.
26. Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. Every
afternoon when the man in the bed next to the window could sit
up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the
things he could see outside the window.
27. The man in the other bed would live for
those one-hour periods where his world
would be broadened and enlivened by all
the activity and color of the outside world.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely
lake, the man had said.
28. Ducks and swans played on the
water while children sailed their
model boats. Lovers walked arm
in arm amid flowers of every color
of the rainbow. Grand old trees
graced the landscape, and a fine
view of the city skyline could be
seen in the distance. As the man
by the window described all this
in exquisite detail, the man on the
other side of the room would
close his eyes and imagine the
picturesque scene.
29. One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing
by. Although the other man could not hear the band, he could see it in his
mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive
words. Unexpectedly, an alien thought entered his head: Why should he
have all the pleasure of seeing everything while I never get to see anything?
30. One day the man by the window has passed away. As soon as it
seemed appropriate, the man asked if he could be moved next to
the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch and after
making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.
31. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up
on one elbow to take his first look.
Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it
all himself. He strained to slowly turn to
look out the window beside the bed ...
..........It faced a blank wall!!!
32. The man asked the nurse what could
have compelled his deceased roommate
who had described such wonderful
things outside this window. The nurse
responded that the man was blind and
could not even see the wall. She said,
"Perhaps he just wanted to
encourage you."
33. Moral : There is tremendous happiness
in making others happy, despite our
own situations. shared grief is half the
sorrow, but happiness when shared, is
doubled. If you want to feel rich, just
count all of the things you have that
money can't buy.
