Software simulations using various logic simulators, available from Electronic Design Automation (EDA) companies, is primary method for functional testing. The next level in functional testing is pre-silicon verification using Field
Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) prototype and/or emulation platforms for stress testing the Design Under Test (DUT). With all the efforts, the purpose is to gain confidence on maturity of DUT to ensures first time silicon success that meets time to market needs of the industry. For any test-environment the
bottleneck, in achieving verification closer, is controllability and observability that is quality of stimulus to unearth issues at early stage and coverage calculation. Software simulation, FPGA prototype, or emulation, each method has its own limitations, be it test-time, ease of use, or cost of software, tools and

architecture has been experimented for functional and stress testing of Universal Serial Bus (USB) Link Training and Status State Machine (LTSSM) logic module as DUT in FPGA prototype. The proposed solution is fully synthesizable and hence can be used in both software simulation as well as in prototype system. The biggest advantage is plug and play nature of this active-agent component, that allows its
reusability in any USB3.0 LTSSM digital core.

of resources and budget, various methods are used for functional testing. Software simulations using various logic simulators, available from Electronic Design Automation (EDA) companies, is primary method for functional testing. The next level in functional testing is pre-silicon verification using Field
Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) prototype and/or emulation platforms for stress testing the Design Under Test (DUT). With all the efforts, the purpose is to gain confidence on maturity of DUT to ensures first time silicon success that meets time to market needs of the industry. For any test-environment the
bottleneck, in achieving verification closer, is controllability and observability that is quality of stimulus to unearth issues at early stage and coverage calculation. architecture has been experimented for functional and stress testing of Universal Serial Bus (USB) Link Training and Status State Machine (LTSSM) logic module as DUT in FPGA prototype. The proposed solution is fully synthesizable and hence can be used in both software simulation as well as in prototype system. The biggest advantage is plug and play nature of this active-agent component, that allows its
reusability in any USB3.0 LTSSM digital core.

This document describes a proposed architecture for functional testing of a USB Link Training and Status State Machine (LTSSM) logic module using a synthesizable active agent embedded in an FPGA prototyping system. The active agent controls stimulus generation and injects errors to target time-sensitive link training and low power states. It also includes a coverage collector to provide observability for closed-loop functional testing. The active agent is fully synthesizable, making it reusable for both software simulation and FPGA prototyping. Experimental results showed the architecture was able to better generate stimuli and improve functional coverage for stress testing the LTSSM module.

Grid Connected Electricity Storage Systems (1/2)
Development and use of Renewable Energy Sources is one of the key elements in European Electricity Research. However, connecting energy sources such as photovoltaics and wind turbines to the electricity grid causes significant effects on these networks. Bottlenecks are stability, security, peaks in supply & demand and overall management of the grid. Energy storage systems provide means to overcome technical and economic hurdles for large-scale introduction of distributed sustainable energy sources. The GROW-DERS project (Grid Reliability and Operability with Distributed Generation using Flexible Storage) investigates the implementation of (transportable) distributed storage systems in the networks. The project is funded by the European Commission (FP6) and the consortium partners are KEMA, Liander, Iberdrola, MVV, EAC, SAFT, EXENDIS, CEA-INES and IPE.
In this project 3 storage systems (2 Li-ion battery systems and a flywheel) have been demonstrated at different test locations in Europe. Additionally, a dedicated software tool, PLATOS (PLAnning Tool for Optimizing Storage), has been developed by KEMA to optimize the energy management of electricity networks using storage. For each network, the location, size and type of storage systems is evaluated for all possible configurations and the most attractive option is selected.

The Digital Security by Design challenge has been recently announced by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). This challenge, amounting to £70 million of government funding over 5 years, was delivered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF).
This Collaborators' Workshop provides an opportunity to hear more details of the challenge and forthcoming competitions.

The CyberInfrastructure (CI) has been the object of intensive research and development in the last decade, re- sulting in a rich set of abstractions and interoperable software implementations that are used in production today for supporting ongoing and breakthrough scientific discoveries. A key challenge is the development of tools and application execution frameworks that are robust in current and emerging CI configurations, and that can anticipate the needs of upcoming CI applications. This paper presents WRENCH, a framework that enables simulation-driven engineering for evaluating and developing CI application execution frameworks. WRENCH provides a set of high- level simulation abstractions that serve as building blocks for developing custom simulators. These abstractions rely on the scalable and accurate simulation models that are provided by the SimGrid simulation framework. Consequently, WRENCH makes it possible to build, with minimum software development effort, simulators that that can accurately and scalably simulate a wide spectrum of large and complex CI scenarios. These simulators can then be used to evaluate and/or compare alternate platform, system, and algorithm designs, so as to drive the development of CI solutions for current and emerging applications.Ch1

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
