The 3rd internal assessment for the 2009-10 Physiology syllabus includes two papers and two practical sessions. Paper 1 covers the endocrine system, reproductive system, and chapters 14-19 of the Guyton textbook on cardiovascular physiology. Paper 2 covers the nervous system and special senses. Each paper consists of 30 multiple choice questions, 10 short answers, 6 short essays, and 1 long essay. Practical 1 involves experiments on humans related to blood pressure, exercise effects on blood pressure, posture effects on blood pressure, and respiratory parameters. Students will interpret one clinical case history. Practical 2 involves clinical examinations of various body systems and calculations.

There will be two practical sessions for each student i.e. Practical 1 and 2 and
each practical will be of 2 hours duration. Please refer to the timetable for more

I. Physiology Practical 1 (Venue: Parasitology Lab 1)
Experiments on Human
A. Recording of Blood pressure
B. Effect of exercise on BP
C. Effect of posture on BP
D. Recording of respiratory parameters by Digital Spirometer
E. Clinical Examination of radial pulse and radial pulse tracing.
AND
Interpretation of Clinical case History
Each student shall get one Experiment on Human (listed above) and one
clinical case history.

Clinical examination
