This document summarizes research into stakeholders who produce and use Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI). The research aimed to understand who contributes VGI data, how different stakeholder groups value and perceive VGI, and the relationships between stakeholders. Through interviews, the main stakeholder groups were identified as consumers, special interest mapping groups, local communities, and professionals. The analysis found that stakeholder value and perceptions of VGI quality and purpose differed depending on the stakeholder group. Tensions sometimes existed between special interest groups and professionals who have competing interests in VGI.
