My key message to all is that, however we word the issues, whatever we call them, THEY APPLY TO ALL BUSINESS TYPES It is up to all of us to care about what’s going on around us and to do our best to leave resources for the future. This doesn’t mean we can’t live to-day but it does mean we have to think about how we live. If we make things clear and simple it will be easier to get folk started down the right path and from these small steps many kilometers can be walked! In business staff ‘buy-in’ is important and flows through to the guests and ‘spreads the word’.
Landscaping boundaries and road sides. Think about your immediate neighbours and passing community Lighting and its impact not only on your guests, but also on your surroundings. Leave and re-approach or overlook your premises at night when lights are on – see if you can reduce lighting and still be secure. Is your lighting achieving what you want? Use motion sensors. Is it necessary? Is it spoiling your neighbours’ or the general public’s environment? Do you start engines earlier than necessary and so disturb neighbours? Think about how your business may impact the surrounding community – Negatively and Positively.
