2. To help our environment there are the 4 R’s that we need to do – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Replace. Our aim, will be to make everyone in school to recycle. We have already introduced the teddy bear bins which recycle paper and plastic bottles. This is an easy way to start. After we have reached our aim, we will try and go further with recycling. 3. If every one recycles then Kellett school will make a difference. Pollution and global warming will be reduced because of our effort. This may spread on to other schools and will help our environment. Hong Kong may become less polluted, if everyone contributes to recycling. Littered Effects

Things that we can already recycle: Newspaper, magazines, leaflets, envelopes, paper Plastic, Supermarket bags, plastic wrapping (in special events) Paper from projects/work Things we can recycle later: Batteries Electronics CD ’s, DVD’s, video tapes Stationary Cardboard boxes – especially in pizza sales (boxes) Food waste, Beverage, chip packets THINGS WE COULD RECYCLE IN SCHOOL

5. Paper, newspaper, magazines, leaflets, envelopes: These are things that are commonly used. Paper is most frequently used among everyone, therefore each class should have a recycling paper tray to put scrap paper in. Plastic : Right now we have a plastic bottle bin. Many children bring in plastic bottles. Y7 have tried leaving plastic bottles out on the side that we want to be recycled but then they are thrown away. We had an idea to have a plastic bottle box in the classroom that will be collected at the end of the week. That way they won’t get thrown away. RECYCLE MATERIAL DATA

6. The rest of the materials to recycle haven’t yet been taken into context. We will start recycling them once wed have gotten used to recycling paper and plastic bottles. At the end of the week the Y7 will each have a floor to collect the material. Some of us have recycling places near where we live and there is a recycling place near here. RECYCLE MATERIAL DATA

7. Be an environmental star Save Water When you are using the tap, turn it off if you are getting some soap Don’t play with the water Waste Reduction Bring lunch boxes instead of plastic boxes or plastic bags Use both sides of the piece of paper, before throwing it away Save energy Set the air conditioners into comfortable temperature of 25.5 °C during summer months Turn off lights and electronic appliances when not in use. Clean air We can create a tree planting for after school activities Ask adults to turn off engines when the car is not moving

8. We will be recycling paper and plastic first and we will have 10 of them, the look like normal recycling bins but this time with wheels so we can roll them into the car park and put them into the main container. RECYCLING BINS

9. Who will be responsible to collect the recycling materials? In the car park we can have a large recycling bin to carry all the recycling materials from each floor, Year 7s can be the people to collect the recycling materials. They can go in partners or in threes if there is too much materials in that floor. The materials can be carried by trolleys.

10. Collection points Across the road of our school, there is a recycling collection company and it is easy to give our recycling materials because it is just right next to the Hok Shan School! The company, told us that they are happy to collect the material, from school to their company. They will collect the plastic items and also paper. For the other items they can be collected by the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Ltd.

11. There are lots of things we can change in school, here are some possible things: Turn off the lights in the stairwell when the school is empty Change all the lights in the school into environmentally light bulbs Turn off the air conditioning, lights and electronics in the classroom when it’s empty. All these points above could also change the environment and also help the school to be environmentally friendly. THINGS WE COULD CHANGE
