Ball Possession 1 – Keep Possession - 3 v 0 
DESCRIPTION OF PRACTICE (TECHNIQUE / SKILL) 
Three Players – keep possession of one football with No Opposition 
Players pass the ball between them, and can either move or stay static 
ORGANISATION 
15 x 12 metre grid (can be modified) 
1. Play for 1 minute with players in a 
fixed position – don’t move 
2. Players now move as far away 
from each other – play 2 touch 
3. Players now move after passing 
4. Players cant play back to same 
player ( whom passed ton them) 
5. Two Players keep the ball while 
third player moves freely – then 
comes alive to receive the pass 
6. Players play 1 touch & move 
7. Players go back to static passing 
KEY OBSERVATION 
1. Accuracy of Pass 
2. Weight of Pass 
3. Timing of Pass 
4. Type & Quality of movement 
5. Spatial Awareness 
6. Quality of first touch 
7. Body Position to receive - open 
NOTES 
1. Players need to feel relaxed when starting exercise 
2. Encourage movement to and away from in-coming pass 
3. Encourage two footed approach – practice both feet 
4. Use a mannequin or obstacle in middle to create picture of a passive defender
