• Objective
• To provide technical assistance to microfinance staff as well
as community members to take forward the project in a
holistic approach by sensitising the people on the need and
use of sanitation systems, construction of low-cost toilets
using improved technology to develop sustainable financial
products for the poor.
• To promote the use of solar energy in a era of critical
energy shortage.
• To develop the strategies for better community positioning
on the issue of water, sanitation and hygiene with energy
as an embedded component.

Radio Dhadkan: Community Radio
Program
• Management committee formed with a new perspective, out of a list of 100
people from the city a committee of 11 members has been formed, which meets
and discusses the progress of the radio station, once in every quarter.
• New agreements with Sesame Workshop and Development Alternatives for
broadcast of programs on children (Galli Galli Sim Sim) and Climate Change
• Call in, radio broadcast and installation of GRINS software.
• 2700 community members reached through narrowcasting and listeners group
meetings held with over 2500 members in total.
• Increased numbers of phone-in calls
• Letter issued by district collector to all line department to make use of Radio
Dhadkan.
• Increased community participation, over 700 people have visited the radio station.
• Increased number of advertisements and greeting messages contributing to
financial sustainability.
• Participation in Maryada Abhiyaan
• Using radio dhadkan as an instrument to amplify the issues of Sahariya
community.
• Over 8000 people are listerners of radio dhadkan , 5000 (Rural), 3000 (Urban)-
findings by Group M
Sampannata: Right to Food Program
• The project has shown some significant impacts in the past one
year. A major achievement would however be an environment
where people have started to demand.
• People from within primitive tribe groups have started to approach
block and district officials for entitlements.(Boresar Bhata)
• The project has been very successful in assisting over 1200 people
in reaching government schemes through regular memorandums
and applications.
• Activities like kissan sammelan, public hearings have been a
milestone where both the administration and community have had
a two way dialogue.
• Women self help groups formed as a strategic intervention within
the project and some even before the project have been able to
link themselves with government schemes like mid-day meal
cooking.
Integrated Low Cost Sanitation
Program
• Sambhav is in implementing the ILCS scheme
on behalf of Municipal Corporation
Chhatarpur for construction of household
sanitation systems in 124 houses of Rajnagar
town of Chhatarpur District. The program is
being financially supported by the
Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Sanitation System Support
• Sambhav has tied up with Manaveeya
Development and Finance Limited to promote
construction of Sanitation systems , through
credit support.
• So far ever its inception in 2011 over 4000
sanitation systems have been constructed
collectively in Gwalior and Chhatarpur.

marketing

• SHG training of entrepreneurship
• Earthen pot –new design and value addition
• Organization building of Fishermen, carpenters and

• Assessment of clients’ financial cash flow and helping the client
analyze her actual requirement based on household income.

• Determining ways to save money through BC model and SHG

• Determining insurance needs through micro-insurance services
• All information regarding money taken from the client is made
available to client during meetings and also available on the
receipts as well as the application form.
Gender and Social Inclusion In Indian
Urban Water Supply & Sanitation
• This survey is an attempt to bring changes in policy of Govt.of India
in context of Gender and social exclusion .
• A survey has been started in 100 slums of Gwalior on issues of
Gender and social inclusion
• Survey work has been completed in 100 slums
• Data feeding is in progress
• This survey is unique from all other usual survey because issues
touched in this survey are different.
• Main emphasis of the survey is on Gender and social inclusion
• Relation of gender with issues of water and sanitation
• Relation of socially excluded categories with water and sanitation
Jansatyagraha 2012
• On October 8, a Ekta Parishad delegation met
again Jairam Ramesh in New Delhi.[2] An
agreement was reached with the government of
India, therefore the march stopped at Agra. The
two major points of the agreement are:
• the establishment of a draft national land
reforms policy in the next 6 months, which
should be finalised soon thereafter.
• the adoption of a legal provision to provide
agriculture land to landless people and
homestead land to homeless people.
Crompton Greaves Limited Celebrates
AIDS Day with Sambhav
• Chief Program Officer , Sambhav, Nabil SIngh undertool a 1 hour
infotainment seminar for foreman workers at Crompton Greaves
Limited Malanpur. The seminar included performance of 4 songs on
AIDS. Mr.Nabil Singh shared the following with the workers of the
company.
• 1- Ways of HIV Transmissions
• 2- Prevention againt HIV
• 3- Difference between HIV and AIDS
• 4- Difference between HIV/AIDS and STD
• 5- Demonstration on use of a Condom
• 6- Promoting social acceptance of Condom
• 7- Answering queries
• 8 Distribution of condoms.
Candle Light Vigil for Malala
• Sambhav along with about 25 participants protested
against the attrocities on Malala , and also did a candle
light vigil followed by a small march and prayer for faster
healing of Malala. Following were present during the event:

Global Handwashing Day Celebrations
• Deepak, Damodar and Garry visit Tikonia, a slum on the
suburbs of Gwalior to celebrate the Global Handwashing
Day on 15th October 2012. The celebrations started with
games being played with children on the importance of
handwashing and the critical times when handwashing
should be practiced such as:
1- Before and After Meals
• 2- After Defecation
• 3- After playing
• 4- After cleaning young ones
•

Water, Sanitation and Energy Promotion Program • Objective • To provide technical assistance to microfinance staff as well as community members to take forward the project in a holistic approach by sensitising the people on the need and use of sanitation systems, construction of low-cost toilets using improved technology to develop sustainable financial products for the poor. • To promote the use of solar energy in a era of critical energy shortage. • To develop the strategies for better community positioning on the issue of water, sanitation and hygiene with energy as an embedded component.

FINANCIAL INCLUSION IMPROVES SANITATION AND HEALTH • Number of SHGs meeting held : 107 • Number of Animators trained: 72 • Number of Masons trained: 46 • Number of times movies shown, in how many villages and approx no of people have seen the movie : 69 Shows in 69 villages with 1800 Participants. • Other IEC activities : Type/ Nos : – Street Shows: 12 – Women Group Sammelan in Hotel Tansen – Staff Training and Mason Training

Radio Dhadkan: Community Radio Program • Management committee formed with a new perspective, out of a list of 100 people from the city a committee of 11 members has been formed, which meets and discusses the progress of the radio station, once in every quarter. • New agreements with Sesame Workshop and Development Alternatives for broadcast of programs on children (Galli Galli Sim Sim) and Climate Change • Call in, radio broadcast and installation of GRINS software. • 2700 community members reached through narrowcasting and listeners group meetings held with over 2500 members in total. • Increased numbers of phone-in calls • Letter issued by district collector to all line department to make use of Radio Dhadkan. • Increased community participation, over 700 people have visited the radio station. • Increased number of advertisements and greeting messages contributing to financial sustainability. • Participation in Maryada Abhiyaan • Using radio dhadkan as an instrument to amplify the issues of Sahariya community. • Over 8000 people are listerners of radio dhadkan , 5000 (Rural), 3000 (Urban)- findings by Group M
  • 24. Sampannata: Right to Food Program • The project has shown some significant impacts in the past one year. A major achievement would however be an environment where people have started to demand. • People from within primitive tribe groups have started to approach block and district officials for entitlements.(Boresar Bhata) • The project has been very successful in assisting over 1200 people in reaching government schemes through regular memorandums and applications. • Activities like kissan sammelan, public hearings have been a milestone where both the administration and community have had a two way dialogue. • Women self help groups formed as a strategic intervention within the project and some even before the project have been able to link themselves with government schemes like mid-day meal cooking.
  • 25. Integrated Low Cost Sanitation Program • Sambhav is in implementing the ILCS scheme on behalf of Municipal Corporation Chhatarpur for construction of household sanitation systems in 124 houses of Rajnagar town of Chhatarpur District. The program is being financially supported by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
  • 26. Sanitation System Support • Sambhav has tied up with Manaveeya Development and Finance Limited to promote construction of Sanitation systems , through credit support. • So far ever its inception in 2011 over 4000 sanitation systems have been constructed collectively in Gwalior and Chhatarpur.
  • 27. Entrepreneurship Development • Dairy – Economics, demand, animal care and marketing • Health workers training • Marketing of medicinal herbs • Goat Rearing- • SHG training of entrepreneurship • Earthen pot –new design and value addition • Organization building of Fishermen, carpenters and tailoring community • Embroidery, Bangle makers and rural cosmetic venders- group formation, saving, bulk purchases and increasing stocks

Financial Literacy • Assessment of clients’ financial cash flow and helping the client analyze her actual requirement based on household income. • Communicating about financial matters with family or household members • Calculating income • Identifying expenses • Identifying and assessing assets and debts • Reducing debts • Determining ways to save money through BC model and SHG • Keeping records • Determining insurance needs through micro-insurance services • All information regarding money taken from the client is made available to client during meetings and also available on the receipts as well as the application form.

Gender and Social Inclusion In Indian Urban Water Supply & Sanitation • This survey is an attempt to bring changes in policy of Govt.of India in context of Gender and social exclusion . • A survey has been started in 100 slums of Gwalior on issues of Gender and social inclusion • Survey work has been completed in 100 slums • Data feeding is in progress • This survey is unique from all other usual survey because issues touched in this survey are different. • Main emphasis of the survey is on Gender and social inclusion • Relation of gender with issues of water and sanitation • Relation of socially excluded categories with water and sanitation
  • 30. Jansatyagraha 2012 • On October 8, a Ekta Parishad delegation met again Jairam Ramesh in New Delhi.[2] An agreement was reached with the government of India, therefore the march stopped at Agra. The two major points of the agreement are: • the establishment of a draft national land reforms policy in the next 6 months, which should be finalised soon thereafter. • the adoption of a legal provision to provide agriculture land to landless people and homestead land to homeless people.
  • 31. Crompton Greaves Limited Celebrates AIDS Day with Sambhav • Chief Program Officer , Sambhav, Nabil SIngh undertool a 1 hour infotainment seminar for foreman workers at Crompton Greaves Limited Malanpur. The seminar included performance of 4 songs on AIDS. Mr.Nabil Singh shared the following with the workers of the company. • 1- Ways of HIV Transmissions • 2- Prevention againt HIV • 3- Difference between HIV and AIDS • 4- Difference between HIV/AIDS and STD • 5- Demonstration on use of a Condom • 6- Promoting social acceptance of Condom • 7- Answering queries • 8 Distribution of condoms.

Candle Light Vigil for Malala • Sambhav along with about 25 participants protested against the attrocities on Malala , and also did a candle light vigil followed by a small march and prayer for faster healing of Malala.   • 33. Global Handwashing Day Celebrations • Deepak, Damodar and Garry visit Tikonia, a slum on the suburbs of Gwalior to celebrate the Global Handwashing Day on 15th October 2012. The celebrations started with games being played with children on the importance of handwashing and the critical times when handwashing should be practiced such as: 1- Before and After Meals • 2- After Defecation • 3- After playing • 4- After cleaning young ones •
