7. If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin;
but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains
8. Sell your possessions and give to those in need.
This will store up treasure for you in heaven!
9. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute
you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven
10. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from
the one who wants to borrow from you
11. when you give to the needy, do not let your left
hand know what your right hand is doing
12. No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one
and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and
despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money;
- Where your money is, there your heart will be also!
13. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those
who humble themselves will be exalted
14. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the
kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of
my Father who is in heaven.
15. What goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but
what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them
16. Give to Caesar(King/Ruler) what belongs to Caesar, and
give to God what belongs to God.
In reference to ‘paying tax to government’ &
‘loving God from (y)our heart’
17. Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal
glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one (i.e. God) who
sent him is a man of truth
18. If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and
throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled
than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.
19. Belief in God & His power
"Don't be afraid; just believe”
"Everything is possible for one who believes.“
“If you believe, you will see the glory of God”
20. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole
world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give
in exchange for their soul?
21. For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens,
but you ignore the more important aspects of the law - justice, mercy & faith.
You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things!
22. Freely you have received; freely give! (of all the blessings &
power that you have obtained from God)
23. While hanging on the cross too, Jesus’ loving words of (a)forgiveness towards people who
persecuted Him & (b)salvation to a repentant sinner at the last moment
(a) Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."
(b) Jesus answered him, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise."
24. Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves, take up
their cross daily & follow me. For whoever wants to save their
life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it
25. Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation
26. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father
or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a
hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life
