Can you remember the joy of first receiving Christ? Why is it, that as we grow in Christ we sometimes know more, but experience the joy less. It's choice. In any relationship it requires a degree of effort to keep the joy in the relationship. Lord, Please return the joy to us.
This is a study of Jesus as the example of holy praise. Jesus suffered greatly on the cross but after it all He was praising and sharing the good news of His resurrection.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
2. My soul glorifies the Lord
my spirit rejoices in God my
Saviour; He looks on his
servant in her lowliness;
henceforth all ages will call me
blessed.
3. The Almighty works marvels
for me. Holy His name; His
mercy is from age to age on
those who fear him. He puts
forth his arm in strength
4. And scatters the proud
hearted. He casts the mighty
from their thrones, and raises
the lowly. He fills the starving
with good things, sends the
rich away empty.
5. He protects Israel, his servant,
remembering his mercy, the
mercy promised to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his sons
for ever.
6. Glory be to the Father,
And to the Son,
And to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is
now, and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen
7.
8. O God, who bestowed on
Saint David the virtue of
wisdom and the gift of
eloquence, and made him an
example of prayer and
pastoral zeal; grant that,
through his intercession,
we may render you joyful
praise.
9. Entrance antiphon
How beautiful upon the
mountains are the feet of him
who brings glad tidings of
peace, bearing good news,
announcing salvation!
10.
11. …Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy
…Christ, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy
…Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy
Penitential act
12. May almighty God have mercy
on us, forgive us our sins, and
bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen.
Penitential act
15. A reading from the first Letter
to the Philippians. 3:8-14
I believe nothing can happen
that will outweigh the supreme
advantage of knowing Christ
16. Jesus my Lord. For him I have
accepted the loss of
everything, and I look on
everything as so much rubbish
if only I can have Christ and be
given a place in him. I am no
17. longer trying for perfection by
my own efforts, the perfection
that comes from the Law, but I
want only the perfection that
comes through faith in Christ,
and is from God and based on
18. faith. All I want is to know
Christ and the power of his
resurrection and to share his
sufferings by reproducing the
pattern of his death. That is
the way I can hope to take my
19. place in the resurrection of the
dead. Not that I have become
perfect yet: I have not yet won,
but I am still running, trying to
capture the prize for which
Christ Jesus captured me. I
20. can assure you my brothers, I
am far from thinking that I
have already won. All I can say
is that I forget the past and I
strain ahead for what is still to
come; I am racing for the
21. finish, for the prize to which
God calls us upwards to
receive in Christ Jesus.
24. Happy indeed is the man who follows
not the counsel of the wicked;
nor lingers in the way of sinners
nor sits in the company of scorners,
but whose delight is the law of the
Lord and who ponders his law day
and night.
The Psalm
26. He is like a tree that is planted
beside the flowing waters,
that yields its fruit in due season
and whose leaves shall never fade;
and all that he does shall prosper.
The Psalm
28. Not so are the wicked, not so!
For they like winnowed chaff
shall be driven away by the wind.
for the Lord guards the way of the
just but the way of the wicked
leads to doom.
The Psalm
30. Praise to you, O Christ, king of
eternal glory!
If you make my word your home
you will indeed be my disciples,
and you will learn the truth, says
the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ,
king of eternal glory! Gospel
31. The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
A Reading from the holy Gospel
according to Matthew 5:13-16
Glory to you, O Lord.
The Gospel
32. Jesus said to his disciples,
‘You are the salt of the earth.
But if salt becomes tasteless,
what can make it salty again?
It is good for nothing, and can
only be thrown out to be
33. trampled underfoot by men.
‘You are the light of the world.
A city built on a hill-top cannot
be hidden. No one lights a
lamp to put it under a tub;
they put it on the lamp-stand
34. where it shines for everyone
in the house. In the same way
your light must shine in the
sight of men, so that, seeing
your good works, they may
give the praise to your Father
36. The Gospel of the Lord
Praise to you, Lord
Jesus Christ.
37.
38. The Peace of the Lord be
with you always.
And with your
spirit.
Let us offer each other
the sign of peace
We Share God’s Peace

40. Hymn to St David
You who brought faith to the people
of Wales, David we honour you, our
Patron saint today.
Pray for your sons and daughters that
they might be filled with truth and
holiness to follow Jesus faithfully.
41. Pray for your children who languish
today without God, without Christ
who have gone astray.
Bring them back to serve Him, their
Saviour and their Lord.
May they repent and worship Him,
the one true God.
42. From your throne in Heaven where
you remain in peace, call down God’s
blessing on all who seek His grace.
Give to those who follow Christ Jesus
joy in their hearts,
Knowing one day they will reign with
Him, nevermore to part.
43.
44. God our Father, slow to anger,
abounding in mercy,
you find your way to us when we
cannot find our way to you,
you are always faithful when we are
unfaithful.
45. Jesus Christ, you entered
the house of sinners,
you sat at the table of the
poor,
you accepted the Cross,
your throne of mercy.
46. Holy Spirit, you pour your
healing gifts over our wounds,
you anoint us to bring good
news to the poor,
you send us out as
missionaries of mercy.
47. God of Mercies, have mercy on
us, so that where sin abounds,
your grace may abound all the
more,
and we shall become merciful
like you. Amen.
48.
49.
