8. The Depot Youth Camp is a week-long summer camp for students in
Grades 11 and 12 (ages 16-19).
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Student selection will be based on academic achievement, fitness and interest in a
career in policing. While at camp, students will be issued parts of the RCMP uniform to
wear and will be expected to act as a troop in training. They will be required to wake up
early, keep dorms clean, and behave as a professional representative of the RCMP.

• If you have work experience second semester, see

complete it before starting work experience.

for a career in aviation.
Cost: $1900 + GST (includes course materials)
Duration: 36 hours, Saturday mornings, 9:00 am –

holding auditions in Calgary on Thursday, April 12.

14. The RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program was launched in 1992
to assist Aboriginal students to complete post-secondary education,
and provide an opportunity for RBC® to strengthen its relationship
with the Aboriginal community. Selected students are awarded up
to $4,000 each academic year for two to four years to use towards
tuition, textbooks, supplies and living expenses.
RBC awards ten scholarships in two categories:
• For students majoring in disciplines related to the financial
services industry
• For students majoring in disciplines unrelated to the financial
services industry
They also consider scholarship recipients who are interested in
careers in financial services for summer and post-graduate
employment.

15. You are eligible to apply to the RBC Aboriginal Student Awards
Program if you are a Status Indian, a Non-status Indian, Inuit
or Métis and meet these criteria:
• You are a permanent resident or citizen of Canada
• You have applied or are currently attending an accredited post-
secondary institution in Canada
• You maintain a full course load that leads to a recognized degree,
certificate or diploma
• You have at least two years remaining in post-secondary studies as of
September 2018
• You require financial assistance to pursue your education

16. UAlberta Info Week is back! These evening events on North Campus
feature a campus tour and faculty information sessions. Info Week
is an excellent resource for prospective U of A students and their
families.
• Date: January 30 - Feb 1, 2018
• Time: 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
• Location: Van Vliet Complex, North Campus, University of Alberta
Students will have the chance to: learn more about what they’ll study, find
out what they need to get admitted into their degree program, discover
career paths, and ask all of their admissions questions.

18. Updating Courses & Marks
You can update your high school courses and marks as they become
available. Once submitted, your application will be re-evaluated. Note:
students who have already received admission are not required to submit
updates. The deadline to submit updates online is April 15 for fall
admission.
How to submit updates:
Return to the online application start page, and click on Update courses.
Acceptable updates:
• Add/update final marks for completed Grade 12 courses (mark should
reflect the final blended grade if a provincial exam was written)
• Add/update mid-term marks for full-year courses from ADLC (must
reflect at least 50% of course content)
• Drop previously listed courses if you have withdrawn from them

19. Feature Program of the Month
Complete a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta at
one of three partner institutions! The Faculty of Education’s off-campus
collaborative programs are currently offered at three Alberta colleges. You
can choose from the Middle Years Program at Red Deer College, the
Elementary Teacher Education North program at Grande Prairie Regional
College, and the Collaborative Elementary Education program at Keyano
College.
Students hoping to complete the four-year program may apply after
successfully completing 60 credits of transferable course credit at their
post-secondary institution. These programs are also offered as After
Degrees. Although collaborative students study on the campus of one of
three different colleges in Alberta, they earn a University of Alberta
degree and qualify for teacher certification in Alberta.
